Friendly people, quick and great service :) The food was also delicious but the mango margaritas were the highlight! Can’t wait to come again for karaōke and Sunday brunch!!!

My latest review of Freddie’s: This is a really fun place. I like their nice, all-you-can-eat Sunday Champaign Brunch with omelettes made to order. Yummy. While there, I’ve seen kids and parents, older people and all ages in between, and since it’s the only gay restaurant in this area of Virginia, gay and straight. All are welcome there and everybody is friendly. My favorite is Wednesday Night Drag Bingo. Not only can you win prizes, but they have a caller and MC in drag. They make witty remarks back and forth all night and the MC does a little dance at intermission. Then people can hardly wait their turn to shove money down her dress. Did I mention that she is a large beefy guy all made up and looking lovely? I should look so good — it’s a hoot. They have a Karaōke Night, a Saturday Broadway Brunch, too. Freddie’s is popular and is always full, so go early for the best choice of seats. There is seating in the restaurant proper and seating in the covered, protected and heated area(in winter) in the front patio. In warm weather, I go early so I don’t have to sit in the front area because people have to go outside to smoke and they don’t go far enough down the street in my humble opinion. I don’t like smoke, but it may not bother you. It’s on Restaurant Row in the 500 block of S. 23rd Street, Arlington, so if you are staying in a hotel in Crystal City or the south end of Pentagon City, it’s an easy walk to it. The only downside is that if you drive there, parking can sometimes be a problem — another reason to go early. Check out Freddie’s website:

We had my partner’s birthday here last month! It was so great! The karaōke was fun, the server for our group of 30+ was amazing, the bartenders poor a mean drink, and the regulars are so inviting. Such a blast! Keep up the good work and great service!

Freddie’s is a great place for Sunday brunch, but I’m not sure I’d bother with the buffet again. For $ 19 and 4 mimosas or a bloody mary, it’s a very good deal, but the buffet is rather lackluster. I always find the biscuits hard and tasteless and the sausage gravy congealed and not very hot. The other dishes are okay, nothing stellar. Today they had roast beef on the carving station that was quite good. Next time I think I will just do ala carte. Service is always friendly and attentive.

This is definitely a place to go to for happy hour. The pros: cute bartenders especially one named Joseph who has a such a great booty, but doesn’t like my kind of giblets, so meh. The atmosphere: it’s so welcoming and inviting. It seemed like everyone said hello to me at least once. It is quite colorful and I was geeking out on my childhood memories displayed on the walls. «SHUTUP! Is that an easy bake oven!!» Now the cons, well quasi-cons because they aren’t deal breakers. My friend and I decided to come here for the drag show. I’ve done drag shows before so I’m expecting leg drops, glitter thrown at me or a full number. My stars, Trannyshack SF has really spoiled me. Perhaps it’s the size of the stage and venue. Werq with what you have hunty! It was my friend’s first show and she wasn’t impressed. The lip syncing was on point, I guess we just expected more. The drinks were watered down or I’m just a functioning alcoholic. I can’t tell which one it is, and if I should be proud of the latter. The food was decent and priced accordingly, but nothing spectacular. It was my birthday week, so I got the pink crown. We had fun, conversed with a lovely couple next to us and left with plenty of memories. Oh and thanks to Miss Ashley for the boob grab! I know my top was hard to resist.

Pretty good brunch spot for especially for the price. It is a cute part of town. The waiters are attentive and friendly. The food is good, but nothing to write home about. The buffet was a little colder than I would like. I would go back with a group.

If you cannot have a good time at Freddie’s, YOUAREALREADYDEAD!!! From the moment you walk in, you feel like you are amongst family. All the hate, prejudice, homophobia and all other negativity waltz right out the door. The place is Festively decorated and the bar and wait staff attend to your every need with Big smiles and great memories. I have always liked this bar. It was the first Gay bar I frequented in DC when I first moved here in 05. I recently moved back, and the place has hardly changed at all. The same people still go and there are new additions to the fold as well. You NEVER know what may happen during Karaōke and the Follies are always a treat. I have never eaten anything here that I did not love. SO i will just say the food is AMAZING as well… If your’e lucky, Freddie will come sit and have a drink with you with his warm smile and charm, he will make you feel right at home. I DAREYOU to go there and NOT have a good time

Happy hour from 3 to 7 offers discounted drinks but also $ 6 shrimp(½ lb) which were tasty and full of old bay spice. Wednesdays have ½ price burgers too which were extremely flavorful. Bar scene busy early on so fun to people watch since I’m a business traveler visiting Arlington, VA!

Left in tears tonight. Brought my two daughters and my parents here tonight so the kids could sing karaōke(Yakkety Yak by the Coasters). We spent over $ 100 on dinner, which was tasty, and when they started karaōke at 8 pm I went right up and put their names on the list. There was one couple who signed up before us, and while they were singing the manager came over and rudely directed me to «get those kids out of here now.» I can’t remember the last time anyone spoke to me in such a rude tone of voice. I rushed them all out and went back in to have some words with him. He said that kids aren’t allowed after 8 pm. I find that surprising, given that we’ve been there for karaōke before(and, like tonight, they were the first or second act to sing ad then we left). Nevertheless, there is absolutely no reason to use that tone of voice or to intentionally embarrass me in front of the other customers. I am generally pretty tough(an attorney by trade), but I left there in tears. I can’t remember the last time I felt so embarrassed and so angry. I live in the neighborhood near Freddie’s and plan to post something to our neighborhood listserv so others know about this experience.

Scott the bartender made my experience everything! He made me feel special, remembered my order from the night before, had amazing witty, sarcastic humor that I love. Bad tricks, handsome, strong drinks, did I mention that the bar is beautiful, filled with beautiful people?! One Love!!! The food is great!

Loved the over the top decorations, and the stage lights :-) We weren’t there in time for a show, but we were in time for happy hour. You can’t go wrong with good quality wine and beer at happy hour prices! The service was awesome and there’s a really laid back vibe in the bar, but the food was only«OK.» We started off with the drinks — wine & beer were good quality, but the pre-mixed strawberry daiquiri tasted of whatever«off putting» mix is being used. But fear not, the restaurant was very sweet and took that drink off our bill :-) The appetizer sampler(wings, cheese sticks, chicken tender, house chips) was decent and not greasy, but nothing special flavor wise. We also enjoyed the duck dumplings which WERE surprisingly Good! Everyone in my group just had a simple burger or chicken sandwich. Again, the food was«ok, average bar food» — definitely not bad, but definitely not good enough to get us to come back. I do recommend this spot for happy hour, and hey, a great waitstaff is quickly, like the mighty Dodo bird, going extinct — so I have to also rave over our awesome waiter.

This is a great place to go to with a group. Crazy and fun décor, hilarious karaōke, and a fairly decent brunch. A lot of the food on the brunch buffet were either luke warm or burnt. I can’t really complain for the price of the brunch though. Service was great and the waiter was super attentive. Lots of options for vegetarians.

I want to give this place a 3.5 but hey we dont have .5’s on Unilocal! My brother in law suggested we have a night out on the town and attend a drag show here and I was excittteeed(this being my first drag show and all). We arrived at 8pm and all of the seats and tables were taken, so we decided to go to the bar first then look for seats later. I really apprecriate this place having no cover charge – normally anywhere else in the DC area will get you before you walk in the door. I ordered a frozen margarita(more details about this margarita to come) and my brother in law ordered something on the rocks. This place is decorated with excellant taste in accordance to it’s theme the«Beach bar», I really felt like I was in Florida at a tiki bar! After we ordered a drink, a bachelorette party was nice enough to let us sit at the end of their table. The show started promptly at 8pm and one by one each performer came out to their individual song. The performers were AMAZING– hair, outfits, makeup, accessories— FLAWLESS! The stage for the performers is kinda of small, but each perfomer werked the room to their advantage! Finally, we were re-seated at another long table closer to the bar with a better view. Our server was very tentative and did an excellant job working our tables and the other large groups he had. My waiter also suggested the green monkey drink to me– it was good but I didn’t taste any alcohol. So why the 3 you say? The food and drinks lowered the rating for here. Ok so I ordered my margarita and didn’t think to look at the machine first. When I went to talk to one of the performers, I noticed each frozen drink machine had alot brown stuff lining it, like they had not cleaned in FOREVER. While my margarita did not taste funny, I was scared that I would be sick or something the next day or later because both the margarita and daquiri frozen machines looked disgusting. They really need to clean that! My brother in law also told me his drinks were weak and he didn’t taste or feel a thing. Secondly, we ordered the multi platter appetizer. The mozzerella sticks seemed like they had sat out for a couple of minutes before being delievered with our platter and the wings were REALLYHOT! So hot we could not finish them. The chicken tenders were good and so were the potatoe chips with bacon and cheese. Overally, I’m iffy about the food and drinks here but if you want to have a good this is the place for it!

I’ve been having a touch couple of days, and needed something to lift my spirits. My first immediate thought was I should go to karaōke. My second thought was I should go to Freddie’s! My desire to go here has existed for ages, but for what ever reason it just never happened until tonight. I’ve passed the place a million times when I’m in the area. I frequent the Crystal City Restaurant and Kabob Place mainly. Now I’m going to frequent Freddie’s. I don’t feel the need to talk about it being a flamboyant gay bar… that’s been covered in every review, so instead of discussing that; I’ll simply discuss the overall experience regardless of the crowd it draws. The highlights of my visit – * I had the opportunity to meet genuine, hospitable people. The patrons and the servers were all so pleasant and lively. Since I went alone, I really didn’t know what to expect. People came up to me and introduced themselves and just started talking to me. I was fine with that. * The ambience of this place draws such positive energy. That was exactly what I needed tonight to lift my spirits. it didn’t take long for me to think about other things from what I had been previously dealing with. * I truly enjoyed the food. I ordered the chicken and collard greens and asparagus. Typically I am NOT a fan of collard greens, so I was pleasantly surprised to actually enjoy them. * The vast karaōke selection was amazing. It certainly had a lot more than some of the other places I’ve been to in the Northern Virginia area. I got up and sang a couple of songs. The crowd was digging the first one more than the second one. My suggestion, pick a song that is lively as the atmosphere. You’re safe bets would be show tunes, things from ABBA, 1980s, and you can never go wrong with Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus. I’m not a fan of Miley Cyrus. However, the crowd had different taste from me because a couple of people sang her songs while I was there, and the audience cheered and sang along… *Wreeeeecking Ball… Party in the USA!!!* I’m definitely going to have to come for Sunday brunch. I’ve read way too many reviews who keep talking about how wonderful it is and raving about it. That will have to be in an upcoming visit sometime in the very near future. Congratulations on 15 years of being open. I totally understand why. You have a great product here and I hope you’ll be here for years to come!

We went in for Sunday brunch just as everyone else does… And were greeted with the vivacious and oh so purple décor at the door. The staff was all smiles, super friendly, and even though there was a mix up with our table, got us squared away very quickly. Greg had the mimosas, a bit too dry for me, but I like super sweet wine and champagne. But the Bloody Mary… That was spot on, and boy did it have a bite! The buffet was a mix of sausage gravy, biscuits, amazing pasta Alfredo, chicken, soup, sushi, Mac & cheese! It was all very good, but the Alfredo was by far best. Our waiter was a doll and shared about the burlesque girls that night, so we went back for that and karaōke, and had one hell of a good time! All in all, one kick ass night!

Based on décor alone I want to live here! I came here on a cold Sunday night for a show and luckily was able to sit right away in some extra empty seats at a friend’s table. Since there was a show going on service was a bit slow, but my coconut rum and coke was delicious! I also got to try some chicken tenders, fries, and coconut shrimp. I would order all 3 again for sure! The biggest disappointment was the piña colada. I don’t know what I was expecting but not some slurpee out of a machine that tasted no where near what I hoped to have. I will say although slow, all the staff was all delightful and I really do hope to return soon! Whether that be for another show, brunch, or just a quick drink!

In love! Came here for the second time and boom got Sunday brunch! Came here with the kids and a special someone so we could eat and have fun. The mimosas where flowing and the kids had all kinds of bites of food. The prices are not bad at all because I felt the mimosas where never-ending. The first time that I’ve been here was a Saturday brunch and I must the Sunday one takes the cake. Really they have something for everyone, sushi, waffles, omelettes, roast beef, etc. What’s the word a smörgåsbord! The servers are extremely friendly and super on point with not missing a beat. All I know is that when I’m in the mode for a banging brunch buffet they will be my go too! I so want to come back and try the regular menu! So until the next visit!

Omlettes, waffles, General Tso’s, Fried Catfish, Ham and Cheese doughnuts(xtra YUM), bacon, biscuits and sausage gravy, fried plaintains, delicious desserts and 4(YES4) mimosas all for $ 19.99! Wow! Service was excellent, the food was delicious and I am completely pleased! The brunch buffet was plentiful and delicious. If you leave Freddie’s hungry it is your own fault. The décor is quirky and funky, sort of a blend between 70’s disco, the beach and Barbie TownUSA. It was dark but I liked it. I will definitely be back for more! A tip: make reservations because Freddie’s is rightfully popular for Sunday brunch!
