Gateway Park

I pass by here almost everyday, it’s like a small island in the road and so pleasantly decorated. Love it.

Pretty park close to the water. They hold events here and there are often great food trucks right outside the park. My favorite is the crepes truck on weekday mornings.

If you’re not an Arlingtonian, you would’ve never guessed where this little park is hidden. It’s located literally across Continental Lounge, next to the Key Bridge. It’s been slightly renovated from the past years to make it commuter/​pet/​family friendly but extended it with bridges, modern architect and gardens. It’s like a mini zen away from the busy «city-​life» of Arlington. You can meditate here, relax and have a picnic, workout, bike/​walk/​run through, and people watch. You can even bring your pets here but please be respectful of others, keep the grass friendly for others… ahem.
A nice addition to the park are the public bathrooms. You will spot a few homeless folks. They are usually peaceful however if a problem occurs, report it to the county and police. Other than that 90% of the time, it’s safe. Make sure to also carry sanitizer wipes or hand-​sanitizer for the «just in-​case».
Throughout the summers and mid-​Fall events are held such as Jazz, farmers market, beerfest and movie nights to name a few. All events are usually free to the public but some sponsored events are for a fee. So make sure to check online.
In all, the park is free to the public. It’s a nice getaway for those who wants to pick a place to relax before heading home or work. Take advantage of the events. You won’t regret movie nights– scavenger hunt game, popcorn/​water for $ 1 or $ 2, OR bring own picnic stuff.

Great big park for dog walking, picnicking and people watching! Right by my house and close to office buildings. A good place to come bring a lunch and eat outside. Always exercise classes going on, movies in the park, jazz fest etc. I wouldn’t go at night but during the day it’s great!

This is a great little spot about a block and a half from the Rosslyn Metro station and close to the Key Bridge. I’ve been quite a few times to the free movies they show at dusk on Friday nights.
Grab a blanket and bring some dinner or snacks with you to picnic and enjoy the great summertime movies. People come early and set up to picnic and enjoy the bean bag toss game they have where you can win t-​shirts or tickets to local events in Rosslyn. They also sell water and fresh popped popcorn now. While you can hear airplanes overhead from the nearby Reagan International Airport and traffic going by during the movie, it’s still a great summertime evening activity.

Spent some time here for the Rosslyn Jazz Fest — a decent little space for smaller events and lounging about. It’s mostly concrete paths, and the central green area is suited for movie watching or concert events. Not too much room for sporting activities, if that’s something you’re looking for. Not a bad park, nothing spectacular either.

My purpose for venturing over to this little park in Rosslyn near the Key Bridge was the Rosslyn film festival thing. Every Friday during the summer, they show free movies. Definitely plan to arrive early to score a decent space. But its a pleasant way to spend the evening. Having a picnic in a park with friends while seeing a free movie (and this summer they are all election-​themed movies!) is a pretty awesome way to spend a Friday night.
It’s a nice park. Not too large, not too small. Plenty of places to sit and have lunch or whatever. And there’s even public restrooms.

Gateway, as I discovered during an early morning run, describes the paths that extend from this little garden which connect different office buildings and hotels around the area.
It is here you can stretch, ponder and wonder, even wander.
