Prior to establishing the business, the Head Coach was leveraging her managerial and recruiting experience to help family members and friends transition careers and land that dream job. Word of mouth spread, and after 5 years, the Head Coach decided to establish the business and scale up to customer demands.

Listening to her entrepreneur spirit and heart, Gelila wanted to find excitement in her job again. What started out as a mere helpful hand slowly blossomed into a business that motivates and challenges individuals to reach their full potential. Her Fortune 500 consulting, managerial, and recruiting experience gives her clients’ a different perspective from others. She has found fulfillment in her work, and she hopes her clients find the same passion or job satisfaction. Gelila Sebhatu was mentioned for her career tips in the Washingtonian Magazine December 2013 issue. She is also a contributing author for intern​match​.com.

Gelila holds an Executive Master Business Administration (EMBA) degree from Virginia Tech University, in additional, to various certifications.

I’m very grateful for GPS Professional Coaching’s help with my resume and interview preparation. I don’t think I’d have my new job if it wasn’t for their assistance. So first, I decided to start looking for a career coach because I was so dissatisfied with my job. I thought talking to someone face-​to-​face to discuss my options would be a good place to start. I booked a free consultation through the website. I learned they only provided phone and Skype sessions as of this year, so I was kind of bummed to hear that, but after speaking with the coach over the phone, I felt so comfortable that I really wanted to work with her. Especially since they seemed to have a lot of experience helping individuals with the Federal Government.
From there, I sent my resume to the coach and we scheduled a Skype session to go over my very resume. She was soon helpful! I learned so much about how to present myself on paper and I realized how many skills I have that I didn’t think to put in my resume.
Once I upload my new resume online, I definitely saw an uptick with recruiters contacting me. In fact, I was scheduling phone interviews left and right. I decided to use GPS’s services again to prepare for my interviews and WOW that was really fantastic! I didn’t realize how nerve I get while explaining my experience, but Gelila really helped me get more confidence and the best way to convey my story. I highly recommend Gelila and her team. They are so nice and if you want something done quick and easy, I’d recommend reaching out to them.

I used GPS Professional Coaching’s services to help with writing cover letters/​resumes for my job search in Washington D.C. I worked with Gelila, who gave me excellent suggestions and really re-​vamped my cover letter for a job I was quite nervous about (in the international sector — although it doesn’t matter, she can help regardless of your sector). When it came to the interview for that job (which was extremely tough — day long with panel interviews and a 4 hour supervised group exercise — by far the hardest interview I’ve been through to date), she prepped with me, coming up with potential interview questions and going over my strategies for answering them. This, in addition to help with preparing the application documents, was tremendously useful and really helped me think through and prepare for the different types of questions I might get on the day of the interview. And a lot of those questions DID come up during the interview, and I felt much more confident on the day having gone over them with Gelila beforehand. I really can’t praise Gelila enough for the work she did with me! I highly recommend GPS Professional Coaching. Two thumbs up!

I usually don’t write reviews, but my recent experience with GPS Professional Coaching is one that I would like to share with others. A close friend of mine introduced me to Gelila of GPS and I was blown away by the services and assistance she provided me during my recent career search.
Gelila and her team are excellent at what they do. Her consultation, resume/​cover letter feedback, and company research were vital in preparing me for my interviews. I’ve used services similar to GPS in the past, but what sets Gelila (and GPS) apart from others is her great customer service, passion, and expertise in the area of career coaching.

I’ve been using GPS Professional Coaching for many years. They’ve been able to provide resume building services as well as interview feedback. They successfully helped me apply for my first job out of my masters, and were able to provide timely feedback on resumes I was sending out to different prospective employers. They helped me customize each resume, and assisted me with a lot of preliminary research for pre-​interview meetings. I liked how easily accessible they were and always responded to my correspondences in a timely manner. I was interviewed for every positioned I applied for, and offered positions by all. I literally was only in the job market for a week, before I accepted my position. 6 years later, I still work for the company and have been able to expand on the programs I oversee. I probably would have found a job on my own, but Gelila and her team really helped me with my long term goals and took every piece of information I provided them seriously. As opposed to just finding me a job, they really helped me find a career path and a great organization to work at.

I must admit I arrived a bit unconvinced how much help I could get out of another workshop after having attended a few job search seminars and networking events. However, it didn’t take long to see this is not just another run of the mill event. It started from the warm and efficient reception. They even had home made refreshments provided free of charge.
The presentation was tailored to cover all essential points in the job hunt process from how to inventory you skills and effectively communicate them on a resume to winning the interview and negotiating a worthwhile compensation package. The class size was optimal to let every attendee receive individual attention and review of each exercise.
Finally, I have to commend the coaches on their professionalism and superb knowledge of the subject matter. Overall, I found the workshop very insightful and encouraging. I left with clarity of purpose and a new understanding of how to better pursue my desired goal.
Icing on the cake? They charge a ridiculously low price for the outstanding value they offer.

The workshop was two-​hours long, interactive and incredibly informative. The information was concise and relevant to the current job market. The material presented was beneficial for mid-​experienced level job seekers.
GPS Professional Coaches shared their experiences as human resource executives. They shed light on why some applicants get the interview and why others do not.
Topics covered included,“How to format a resume to a particular job posting”, «How to customize your ‘About You’» interview-​pitch and «How to negotiate salary once you land the job.»
The number of attendees was limited so the coaches could provide personalized attention to each attendee and their particular career concerns. Each attendee received one-​on-​one time w/​a GPS Professional Coach and left with individual feedback on how to best tackle their particular career obstacles.
GPS Coaches also provide Individual Coaching and Career Planning. They can help implement the steps discussed in their seminar into a larger life and career plan.
