Wendy takes the time and probes till she understands what it is that you actually want to have happen to your hair. She takes the time needed without being a slow poke wasting your time. Very knowledgeable. I was very happy with the outcome; highlights done gently and a trim, no big change, as requested. –Definitely good value for the money.
Try to ignore the rest of the place as it is a bit rundown…

UPDATE 8÷21÷13: Wendy left Hair Reflections about a month ago and has since moved on to Edge Salon in Clarendon. Seems like the folks over at Hair Reflections refuse to give Wendy’s contact information to her clients, and with Wendy’s permission, I’m posting her cell number for clients to reach her at – 571−278−2463. Additionally, I updated my review of this salon to 1 star, which is what it deserves for the complete mess and not very hygienic salon that it is.

The only reason I’m giving this salon 4 stars is because of one of their stylists, Wendy. After reading rave reviews about her on Unilocal,I made an appointment with her. I was in dire need of a bold cut and style, and after listening to my rant (and the fears that came with it), Wendy gave me just that. She was professional, charismatic, and very knowledgable. The salon itself leaves much to be desired, but with a stylist like Wendy, you’ll find yourself putting that aside.

Wendy does a great job of making hair look how it should look. The salon itself isn’t glamorous but the cut will make you feel like you just stepped off the cover of a magazine.

I live in Nevada. I frequently visit my son and his family here in Arlimgton, Va. I read the previous review about Wendy. She is absolutely amazing! I. Highly, highly recommend her. I have been to hair salons all over the world. My husband and I travel frequently. Wendy ranks right up there with the very best of them. She is truly committed to her clients. You can be sure I will be returning to her. She listens to the client; offers her expertise; and does a magnificent job! Think you so much, Wendy!

OMG! RUN away from this place! This is the most horrible place I have EVER been to! I specifically created a Unilocal account to tell people how horrible this place is. The salon was absolutely filthy with boxes and trash everywhere, along with hair all over the floor! I specifically told the stylist I had a brazillian keratin treatment and I had to use shampoo with no sulfates, she didnt care and put a huge glob of regular shampoo on my head. She and Wendy then fought over who would take me right in front of me, completely rude. A man who appeared to just hang out there all day was sitting in the chair eating a sub and spilling it all over himself and the floor. When the lady did begin to cut my hair she kept pushing my head up! Not asking me to move it or gently tilt it… she literally poked and pushed my head on several occasions… needless to say this was the worst experience and I would reccomend any haircuttery over this place! DO NOT GO HERE!

A few years ago when I first moved to the city, I was poor and happened to be at the Ballston Mall and needed a haircut. I figured I would go to one of the mall places since they are cheap and I only needed a trim. On a whim I went to Hair Reflections and found THE best stylist I have ever encountered. Her name is Wendy, she has blond hair and she is in the back left station.
She is great because she knew exactly what to do with my hair. She actually listens!!! Most people try to give me layers, which never turns out good. She suggested growing out my layers, which was the greatest advice ever!
I still go to her every 3 mths. and she does a great job. She has never butchered my hair. And she charges me fairly $ 20 for a hair cut, what a value!
It is usually luck of the draw at these places and she is a diamond in the rough. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else there, my roommate tried one of the other women and ended up getting a butchered hair cut.

I needed a quick, no frills haircut and figured this place would be a half step better than my usual Hair Cuttery experience. Why didn’t I leave mediocre enough alone?
The place is in general disarray. My stylist, Wendy, insulted my hair when I sat down in the chair. I should have walked out then. She proceeded to spend half the time with me not cutting my hair but yelling at her coworkers, complaining about the music, the tv, and complaining about the woes of being a single mother. After the way she was rough with my scalp, I experienced some schadenfreude when she managed to cut herself with the scissors.
The haircut itself wasn’t terrible but the lack of service, respect and professionalism ensures I won’t return there.
