First of all, thank you Nicole. you are amazing. this was my first time there. my hairstylist was Nicole. she knows what she is doing. she gave me a beautiful haircut and hair color. my hair hasnt looked this good in long long time and i just keep touching my hair because the texture of hair is just so so soft. i already made an appointment in 6 weeks from today and cant wait to for another amazing hair day.

I only have good things to say about Horizons! I have been going here for over 13 years and have been happy since the first day I walked in. One of the reasons I have continued going back is not only the great service I’ve gotten from Barbara, but I love that it’s a local, independently-​owned business where I’ve seen many of the same faces (customers and staff) through the years. I love the grandma’s that visit for their weekly «hairdos», brides and prom-​goers looking for the latest style, men, teens, women, and kids. Horizons can service them all!
I highly recommend Horizons. I know they’re bringing in new services, and I’m excited to see what the future has in store.

I have been going to this salon for years. Barbara is spot on with my hair, I don’t have to think about what I want, she is a true professional! All the stylists continue their education with ongoing classes for the most up to date hair care and styles which is great for those of us who enjoy looking current! Can’t say enough good things!

Don’t have Spa in the name if your not a spa! Hard to complain if I’m a last minute booker but this is not a spa. Came in for a facial. Person providing the service made it clear she worked for other places and I didn’t know what I was talking about regarding my products. Not to mention there was no cover up and I was asked to put my bra straps down, doesn’t scream spa to me. The table was the hardest table I’ve ever been on. I tipped the girl well as my skin felt good when done. But no spa experience for me.

2 months ago I called for a cut and was told that my longtime stylist was gone and they would not tell me where. Way to go!
The excellent wax lady Adrianna is still @ Horizons so I still will be popping over despite the fact that I have managed to hunt down my hairdresser.
I have been told that there is new management so I will reserve judgement and wish them well!

I had my hair done yesterday by Marie. She was gentle with my hair, pleasant to talk to and very accommodating. My hair turned out great, she did exactly what I asked for. I will definitely be returning to this salon.
Note: The salon accepts credit cards — but make sure to bring cash for the tip! There is no option to tip on the card receipt.

Cassandra has left Horizons! She has been doing my eyebrows and also my daughters for years and we don’t know what to do now.
If anyone knows where she is working now, I would love to hear from you.

Wow! Amazed at the wonderful mini-​facial given by Adrianna Friday! I booked as last-​minute «me» time, they fit me in within an hour’s notice.
You are not paying ‘Intercontinental Spa’ prices so this is not that type of lavish setting, yet it is tranquil and relaxing and private none the less.
Adrianna was very sweet, assessed my sensitive skin on sight and went right to work pampering my dry red blotchy face. The ½ hour felt like hours and I can’t wait to go back. My skin is glowing and the products were very gentle and moisturizing.
I am do glad I was able to fit in– what a treat! And it’s right in Mass Ave so easy shopping and lunch after!

I have never been insulted, cursed too, or rushed like I was here. I had whip lash from my head being whipped around during a haircut… I was called an alcoholic because I work with children, I was given a haircut that did not fit my hair, and on top of that this hair dresser cursed like a sailor!!! I am never going back… Save yourself the poorly executed S&M experience.

Most salons have a coffee station where you can make yourself tea, hot chocolate or a nice cup of coffee or they offer you a a nice glass of water. There is nothing like that here except at Christmastime. Coffee is a must. I have considered going elsewhere just because they don’t offer coffee. I pay so much money on my hair I could mortgage a house. I should at least be able to have a cup of java. I don’t like to have to wait for 45 minutes while the hair dresser is doing someone Else’s hair either. Décor/​atmosphere is fair. A bit tacky at times.

I would drive from NH and sometimes from Boston to come to this salon for the exceptional eyebrow extraordinaire Ms. Cassandra Vazquez! She is worth the drive and does fantastic work. Not only does she keep my brows in tip top shape she is a great person to chat with making the whole experience seem like you are simply relaxing and catching up with a good friend. Highly recommend anyone looking to get their brows done needs to see Ms. Vazquez A.S.A.P!

When I first moved to the New England area I searched high and low for a decent brow person. I am very particular about my eye brows due to some very bad experiences I’ve had in the past. I went to maybe 7 people over the course of a year and a half until my step mom introduced me to Cassandra. Before her I’ve had experiences where I had to draw my eyebrows on for over a month due to the over waxing. Cassandra is a perfectionist and that is my favorite thing about her process! It takes a little bit longer than other estheticians, but she does the job right every time. You know exactly what to expect after each visit. Because of this reason she is the only one who touches my eyebrows aside form myself.
I moved to San Francisco, CA over a year ago and still haven’t even looked for a person here. I fly back to Boston periodically during the year and you better believe booking an appointment with her is a high priority on my list. I would recommend her to literally anyone. I swear she’s a magician!

Not a lot to say about this salon– they’re really good, in my experience, at highlights. The woman that has done my hair, Meghan, is good and very friendly. I haven’t had a bad experience at this place, very consistent. Bonus– they sell Bare Minerals mineral makeup by the register, so there’s no need to order online (& pay shipping~) or head out to the dreaded mall to purchase!

I’ve had a couple of experiences with this salon.
I used to get my hair cut and highlighted here with Mona, but unfortunately her part time schedule here no longer works my own work schedule, so I had to move along. Her work was pretty good.
However, I recently had my brows shaped two days ago by Cassandra and THEY LOOK AMAZING! I had heard about her through a former co-​worker and am thanking my lucky stars that she is in Arlington! I was formerly in the beauty business, and I can say as someone with experience that she knows what she is doing. She has a special room in the back, separated from the hub-​bub going on in the salon making the experience a bit more private and quiet. Cassandra is an experienced professional, whipping out her ruler and pencil to draw the ideal shape and ensure that your brows are symmetrical. She was a great conversationalist, and most definitely looked the part of the artist with her own brows and make-​up beautifully done. Not only was the service and end result exceptional, it’s a steal at $ 20!!!
The reason I took off one star was for the front desk experience. There is a woman at the front desk (I know her name but am trying to be nice) who seems to be the unhappiest woman alive. She is gruff and rude on the phone, talks over and interrupts you, as if calling there for an appointment is an annoyance. While you are waiting she does not make eye contact and huffs about, I did not see her smile once. Even speaking to regulars she seemed absolutely miserable. I would also point out she ignored me for approximately 10 minutes before I forcibly checked in. There is another receptionist, Paula, who is a pleasure to speak with. She’s kind, more softly spoken, and you can HEAR her smile over the phone. I was happy to note at the end of my appointment with Cassandra that the desk was empty; Cassandra competently checked me out, saving me from an awkward and anxiety inducing experience.
I will come back for the service, but I will also make sure I always have exact change so that I can drop it off and scoot out. I don’t want to have spend more time at the front desk than I have to.

I moved right after Thanksgiving (early Dec 2011), and I have yet to find a hair stylist as good as Colleen at Horizon’s.

Always had trouble with my sons haircuts ash for some reason barner cuts did not look good on him. The staff at Horizon’s worked with me and he was able to get an awesome haircut. I believe Horizon;s is a family run business and it shows. Everyone was super nice and will definatley be going back.

Called on Christmas eve day… OMG they had an appt. barbara cut and colored my thick hair with really nice blond high and low light. Awesome cut awesome color. Went back for eyebrow wax by Cassandra probably one of the best shaped brows I’ve had since I lived in NYC… I will be going back to this salon.

I went in for a cut and had a wonderful experience. It was a very comfortable and relaxing environment. I received exactly what I asked for and am very happy with it. I will definitely be returning.

Cassandra is such a gem. I really cannot over state that. I’ve been to every expensive salon up and down Newbury street, and NO ONE gets my brows perfect like she does. And I’m TOTALLY obsessive about brows, mine and other people’s.
Naturally, when I decided to start getting facials, I went to Cassandra first. I’m 23 and I STILL get acne (wtf, skin gods?!). Cassandra has done for my skin what no dermatologist and no Proactive ever could. I have gone from having at least two or three zits at ALL times and acne flare ups with my period, stress, long runs, etc to having skin that people actually compliment me on.
If, like me, you have actual gunk in your skin (I have oily skin AND my skin turnover is really bad), no amount of oral antibiotics or harsh chemicals will help you like a good facial will.
On top of all that, the prices here are great! $ 70 for an hour facial that WORKS.

First of all the haircut and color I got were a weak «ok» at best. Nothing great.
The décor is depressing. The stylist I had was really quite unpleasant to deal with. Kept dropping the «F-​bomb» during conversation which hello? I’m not your pal, we’re not in a bar hanging out. I’m paying you WAY more than this hair style was worth so please be professional.
Also and most egregiously she kept arguing with me about what I wanted. I was super duper sure about what I wanted and not only was she insulting about what I requested she wore me down and I ended up too exasperated to keep arguing so she did what she wanted anyways including using a product I told her not to use on me because it would irritate my scalp. THANKS!
