Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan

5 day and 4 night stay. Great high food room and the service was very prompt and friendly. The room was made up very nicely and in between our staying in and going out.
Beds were nice and the bathroom was a little
cramped for two people but hey… get cozy or wait your turn.
We did not go to any of the bars except the coffee shop in the morning.
Plenty of tourists and high school groups which were a little off the chart annoying but I was a crazy HS’er once too.

I arrived here after 1:00 AM due to a flight cancellation at IAD and a very long shuttle ride here since I was rebooked on an early morning flight out of DCA. It was apparent by the number of people standing in line to check-​in that my flight wasn’t the only one that had issues. I understand hotels try to operate with a smaller staff at night but with only one employee trying to deal with this influx of stranded passengers it was a little frustrating standing in a line that seem to move at a snails pace at this hour. At some point during the extremely long wait a second employee stepped in to help with the check-​in process but seem to be constantly distracted by valet parking issues which seemed to take precedence over those of us holding airline vouchers.
So as far as the amenities and the personal customer service goes there aren’t very many positive things I can comment on given the very limited time I spent here so I’m giving just an okay rating.
Pros:
— The shower worked well with plenty of hot water and decent water pressure.
— The first shuttle to the airport leaves at 4:40 AM
— Wake up service — I request at 3:30 AM wake up call at 2:00 AM and it happened.
Cons:
— No food available after midnight
— No coffee available if your catching the early shuttle (no 24 hour coffee options)
— Lacks the resources to deal with late night check-​ins (with the close proximity to the airport I would think the surge of late night check-​in request is fairly routine)
I think there are plenty of options close by that can perform at this level, it was rather a disappointing experience even being a HYATT GOLD PASSPORT — Diamond Level Member doesn’t help in this situation.

More or less what you would expect from a Hyatt hotel. One thing that bothered me is that the hotel has a designated smoking area right at the entrance. It’s nasty and I can’t imagine that’s the first thing the hotel wants its guests to experience.

Horrible staff and service. If you don’t have to stay here, go else where. I don’t like giving bad reviews but this place was nothing but a headache.

Really disappointed for the price. Event with the discounted rate for the event I attended it was not event close to being of value at over $ 110+ a night average. This place is structurally questionable. Seriously everything feels like it is on a slant. I don’t know if they ground settled or there was some sort of sink hole subsidence issue or if the magical device called a level was unknown to the contractors who built the thing. Nothing in our room was level. The entry way closet doors would not close and would just slide back open because it was not level. The show floor was not leveled when tiled so it just pooled water instead of draining. The head of our bed felt lower than the foot. The table in the breakfast restaurant was slanted and questionably mounted. Aside from the Tower of Pisa slanting issues the room just looked and felt dank. Dark curtains, purple velvet chairs & couch, dingy carpet & wall paper all made the room dark. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible and again dark tile, black counter top all making it dank. No mini fridge, which I thought was standard anymore but apparently not. The toilet broke the last night we were there and the pool was being renovated so we couldn’t use that facility either. We were given odd conflicting information about parking when we arrived so we ended up doing valet the first night which was $ 32/​per night. Just a heads up that parking on the street is free overnight after a certain time — check the signs because I think it was after 8pm but could be wrong — and there is a PMI surface lot next door that is only $ 10/​per day (as of the writing of this review — it may change so no hate mail if it does in the future).
All in all the place needs a major face-​lift. The rooms need to be brightened up with more lighting in the bathrooms where people dress, put on makeup etc and attention given to trying to leveling some things like the closets so they are functional. I would not choose this hotel in the future as I don’t feel like I got value for the money spent.

I am not impressed. I can hear the babies in the room next door and the hotel is overbooked so I can’t change rooms. It took forever to have the front desk answer the phone and I had to tell the person the number of my room and had to tell him twice that I had a double bed room. He should have listened the first time. There were no outlets near the desk so I couldn’t use my phone and work at the desk at the same time. I had to unplug the fridge so I could plug in my laptop. The business center gives you 15 minutes free only after you put your credit card number in and you have to pay to use the printer. The only reason they are getting two stars is that I am not sleeping with cockroaches.

Shout out to this hotel for getting me a very early check-​in to my room since I flew in from California on the Red Eye overnight for a meeting in the afternoon. Staff was pleasant and the room looks to be recently renovated.

I am so pleased with my experience here. As others have mentioned, the initial impression is that all the staff that I encountered is very friendly and welcoming. I had a drink at the street level bar and then went upstairs to the restaurant which represents that it is locally sourced. I enjoyed my braised romaine salad appetizer followed by a delicious duck confit roll — also an appetizer but I prefer appetizer-​sized portions. Good selection of wines by the glass. I enjoyed the Petit Syrah offered. Entrée prices seemed high but I assume that they would be the same outstanding level of flavor so that might justify it. All in all, much higher quality food than one would expect from a hotel of this level. The pleasant surprise trend continued with the room. Just a more thoughtful design, lighting, finishes/​fabrics and toiletries — far above what one usually tolerates for an «airport hotel.» I can highly recommend this hotel!

Near DCA, if you planing visit downtown DC. Shuttles are provided every 20 minutes to metro or airport.

If it wasn’t for our delayed flight and missing connection We would never stay here. The room is sub par for a Hyatt. The room is gloomy, dark and uninviting. Especially coming from staying at a Marriott in the city for our trip. American Airlines gave us a voucher for the night and we still had to come out the pocket $ 93 for this place. The carpet is dirty and pictures are missing from the wall, the beds are like cots. Now I know where not to stay. Oh the lobby is nice though.

Just got back from staying here. My entire group was able to check-​in and receive a king bed, but I was told I couldn’t have one– even though I was the only person (in my group) to request one ahead of time. Desk clerk was not helpful, she seemed annoyed at me. Room was small and cramped, and lighting was dim and very yellow. Bathroom was small and the door opens inward which made it worse. Opened my toiletry lotion and it had dirt in the cap, it obviously hadn’t been checked and replaced before I got there. Called to request just an emery board as listed on their ‘complimentary convenience’ list but of course, they didn’t have any. Curtains were dirty. I was kept awake all night due to hearing our neighbors doors slamming and music playing! Parking was outrageously priced, valet only.
They do have a free shuttle to the airport and also to the metro, which was great.

Very upscale lobby and image. Rooms OK — fairly aged and bathrooms definity old. Beds comfortable and décor modern.
Avoid the convenience store in lobby. Crazy prices — $ 5 water and candy same price. Make airports look cheap.
Bar — good service this time. Last time not so — walked away after 10 minutes no service.
One weird thing — elevators — you have a very short time to board and if people getting off you will get body slammed by doors closing. Happen few times now and sensors are not very sensitive.
Staff very friendly and nice.
Free shuttles to Reagan National and Metro.

This Hyatt is great for conferences and transient convenient stays before or after traveling. We had a conference here last week, had a great turnout. The basement set up was a little bit confusing, we were lost while finding Potomac 1 – 5 while not knowing that there was a tiny little hallway we needed to walk through for the rooms; either the directions were clear. But the GM Derek was extremely nice, he presented a strong leadership in the building. Other than that, everything else was average.

They Hyatt Regency, I have mixed feelings on this one.
Let’s start off by saying that the staff here is absolutely fantastic. The front desk staff were friendly, efficient and quick to answer any and all questions. The valets and the bellmen were also fantastic, greeted you with a smile, asked how your travels were, just top notch friendly people. They get a 5 star in my book!
We had a large room with a king size bed. Plenty of space to move around and a window view that looked out onto Reagan International. Since I am a strange person, I could easily watch planes land and take-​off all day. The room was extremely clean when we arrived and each day the making up of the room was fantastic. Kudos to the housekeeping team! The room itself was nice, though I was not a fan of the shower. The ‘rain shower’ was clunky and in an awkward position. Could not really move it either, but we dealt with it. No real place to hang towels either while showering, which was quite odd, two very small places to hang towels. Not a huge deal, but an easy fix.
The only real negative of the place were the elevators. Not sure what was going on here, but it was nearly impossible to get an elevator between 4pm and 8pm, unless you took the elevator to the top and then back down. You would just wait and wait. Normally I have no problem taking the stairs, but the better half had heals on for dinner and it was not a fun trip down the 14 flights of stairs to the lobby.
I would definitely stay here again basically because the staff was fantastic.

The facility is pretty big, and the staff doesn’t get lost in the size of the hotel. My last stay with Hyatt in Atlanta was a disaster… (see my other review) so it was refreshing to have a nice, comfortable stay here. Room service was on point whether we left the room early or not. The days we slept in, we requested to have the room cleaned as we left and it was always taken care of by the time we returned.
This location is perfect. Its extremely close to plenty of food and shopping (Pentagon City Mall). DC is just a hop away and Reagan Airport is literally a 4 minute drive because they have a back access road that leads directly to airport. There’s also a shuttle. The hotel has a restaurant, although I didnt eat there and I also saw a Starbucks in the lobby which I believe opens at 5:30. Also had Free Wifi.
Hyatt valet is about $ 27 per night, but theres lots of street parking and the meter is free after 6pm, so I parked around the corner behind the cabs and walked 1 – 2 mins to the front door. I have the parkmobile app, so I just set my alarm to remind me to pay for 2 hour parking by 8am so I wouldnt get a ticket. This worked out great!
My only pet peeve was the half glass shower partition. I prefer to have a curtain because I hate to feel cold air as I shower. I’d definitely come back.

I stayed at this Hyatt for two nights this weekend. I landed at DCA at about 11:30 p.m. on Friday night and called to find out if the shuttle was still running. They told me there would be one shuttle at 11:45 and another coming around at midnight. I went to the place they told me to stand and waited for about 3 minutes before the shuttle magically arrived. The ride was extremely fast and easy. They had complimentary bottled water for passengers. It was great.
For check-​in, I decided to try one of kiosks in the lobby so I wouldn’t have to stand in line to check in. I’ve never done a kiosk check-​in, but it was extremely simple. I just walked up, swiped my credit card, and the machine printed out my room number and gave me a room key in about 5 seconds. I was actually in my room and getting ready for bed before midnight when my flight had landed at 11:30!
So now let me tell you about the room. Because the prices here were so cheap, I upgraded to a king suite for $ 134/​night. The room was beautiful. Large bathroom, living room, two big screen TVs, giant king bed, and outdoor patio with a beautiful view. Everything was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. When I woke up in the morning, I discovered that I had forgotten a toiletry item that I needed. I was about to head down to the little store in the lobby when I happened to notice the sign on the desk telling you that if you forgot any of about 20 different items, you just needed to dial 0 and they would bring you complimentary replacements free of charge.
The breakfast buffet served on both mornings was amazing. It is a little pricey, but totally worth it. The custom-​made omelettes were delicious and the employees there seemed to be in such a good mood! The omelette maker was singing and having a good time while interacting with customers. I don’t think Diet Cokes were included as part of the buffet price, but they didn’t charge me extra and kept my drink constantly refilled!
Happy hour at Lobbibar was another stunning discovery for me. It goes on from 3:00 — 6:00 p.m. and they have amazing food specials for half price during this time. I ordered a $ 6 cheese and fruit plate and nearly fellow over when they brought it out. Seriously, I order this all the time on American Airlines flights and was expecting two small pieces of cheese, 5 crackers, a handful of walnuts, and a bunch of grapes (which I typically pay about $ 10 for on airplanes). This happy hour plate was a giant dinner plate heaping with grapes, 5 – 6 generous portions of cheese, delicious warm & buttery bread slices, candied walnuts, and two jams. For $ 6??? That would cost you $ 20 anyplace in my home city!
While I was at it, I decided to order a little vegetable plate too. Same story. For $ 5, I got a beautiful plate with fresh carrot sticks, celery sticks, sliced radishes, sliced cucumbers, pita bread, black-​eyed pea hummus, and some kind of ranch dip. It was stunning. I had so much food in front of me that it wasn’t physically possible to eat all of it, but it sure was beautiful and cheap for a hotel dinner!
I would like to give a special shout out to Asim, the bartender from Bangladesh. He was quite entertaining and very customer-​service focused. I had a very fun night and stayed there much longer than anticipated since I was enjoying myself and the travelers I met.
The restrooms in the lobby also go above and beyond normal hotel lobby restrooms. They had a basket on the counter in there with complimentary individual hand lotion bottles and toiletry items for guests to take. Again, very thoughtful.
When I got back to the room later, I found an envelope under the door where Hyatt was inviting me to fill out a very short 5-​question preference survey so they could record some notes in my profile in case I stayed there again. It was optional, but I would be entered into a contest to win extra 2,500 hotel points if I turned it in when I checked out. Seriously, they just wanted to know my favorite drink, snack, hotel room preferences, and hobbies so they could make my next stay even more enjoyable. I have no idea what that means, but I swear that if they had a complimentary Coke Zero and bag of pretzels in my room next time I came back, I would never stay at another hotel chain again.
Finally, I checked out this morning and there was no line. Checkout took 5 seconds. I had to wait about 5 minutes for the complimentary shuttle. And the shuttle driver was so extremely courteous, helpful, and happy that I can’t help but wonder what this hotel is doing to make their employees love their jobs so much. Good job to Mr. Billy, the driver, and to Asim, the two omelette chefs at Cinnabar, and everyone at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City staff for really going above and beyond to make this one of the most enjoyable hotel stays that I’ve had in years.

Hyatt Regency Crystal City is located near Reagan National Airport. You can take a free shuttle from DCA or take Metro to the Crystal City Metro Station (why?) and pick up a shuttle from there. An Über would take about 6 minutes after they pick you up. I drove in and valet parked, which took a while since it was busy when I arrived. There were several people checking in, and from what I heard, a storm earlier in the afternoon knocked out the power and hence, the computer system.
The lobby area was spacious, registration looked sleek and updated; I saw a coffee bar in one corner, the concierge in another corner, plenty of places to sit, and it appeared the banquet/​ballrooms/​meeting rooms were below.
I was given a corner king (Room 1700) which had an airport view; it was quiet being in the corner room; I could watch the planes land and get ready to take off all day, well, not really, but it was really cool. The room was tidy and well-​kept.
I was here briefly but plan to return for a conference and will update my review after a longer stay.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times throughout the years. I don’t usually stay at Hyatts. I will start this review by saying what I do like about this hotel. Being that I have stayed here one week every year for the past four years.
What I like about this hotel is the staff is very friendly and accommodating. There have been multiple times that I was just walking back to my room and a staff member at the front desk would say hi to me as I was going by. The bellhop is very quick to grab your luggage upon arrival. The guys at valet are very friendly and funny it helps if you slip the guy five dollars he make sure you get any type of vehicle you have stored there immediately.
The location of this Hyatt in Crystal city is great you can walk to probably 30 to 40 different restaurants from this hotel. The restaurants that you can walk to range from McDonald’s all the way up to Morton’s and Smith and Wolinsky’s.
The lobby at this Hyatt is very big and open they have Glass elevators. There are three floors in the basement that are all reception areas set up for conferences. there is also fully operational Starbucks inside of the hotel. As well as a restaurant and a bar called the lobby bar the bar actually has a good selection of alcohol they have everything from regular beers all the way to McAllen scotch. We ate at the restaurant I do not recommend eating here it’s more on the expensive side and the food was not that great
The rooms at this hyatt are very spacious and clean. just be careful they charge six dollars for the water bottles that are on the dresser, next to the televisions. The views that you get from the rooms vary. Sometimes you get a view that looks over the airport and sometimes you get of you that looks over into an office building.
What I do not like about this hotel is the price they have charge $ 500 a night on multiple occasions. I know that this is a Hyatt but at $ 500 a night I think that’s extremely high for a hotel period. I travel to some serious hotels across the country and the rooms at other hotels were nicer and cheaper than this Hyatt. I mean I understand that it’s a prime location and there is a lot that you can do around the area but it $ 500 a night I don’t Think that it’s really worth 500 a night
Overall it’s a good hotel if you like to go to different restaurants and shopping it’s right across the river from Washington DC and it’s very close to the airport I do think it’s a bit pricey at $ 500 a night.

I love that the posted maximum rate for my room is $ 489. …Mmm-​kay…
I came to the Hyatt Regency for a conference (hosted by the property). I came a day early and expect to stay a day after.
On the positive side, I got a room on highest floor (18) just below the «Chesapeake View» dining room. that’s nothing to complain about. The front desk clerk said the top two floors are business floors. Not sure the difference but I guess I should feel privileged.
I didn’t have to wait to check in and it didn’t take long, less than 5 minutes.
Odd arrangement of the room, a small entry way once you enter the room, fogged glass doors to the closet and the bathroom to your left and right. A piece of art immediately facing you as you walk in the room. A strange shelf below the art. Then around the art/​wall and the ordinary room is before you.
The bed is okay, not spectacular, but passable. I have two «double» beds in my room… I’d rather have had a King. The TV is 32″ and dated but again, passable.
The window is great, facing the Potomac and Reagan National Airport, to the ESE. I enjoy having the roman blinds open and watching the traffic on the nearby George Washington Memorial Parkway as well as watching the Metro come and go.
The room is clean, but not spotless. Strange stains on the porcelain in the bathroom puzzle me… don’t they see it? I understand housekeepers have so much to do (and they do a good job) but I am always surprised how… dingy the corners get. I guess many don’t see this dirt. But then I guess it doesn’t really
most folks. Maybe I am too picky. But I just expect that my room will be clean.
This hotel room is in good repair, everything works, nothing appears to be broken. The service is, on the whole, good. I am enjoying my stay.

I got a REALLY good deal on this hotel & for the price I paid, it was than adequate.
The lobby is very nice & we immediately felt out of place in our running clothes after driving 9 hours from GA. But the staff was very nice. They have automated check in… which is my cup of tea. I prefer not to talk to people as often as possible.
I was very disappointed with parking. Yea they have a garage but it’s $ 27 a night! With no self park option. It’s all valet. And this is the price for everyone. No discount if you’re an actual guest at the hotel. So we chose to park our car on the street. Which is sparse & we were very lucky.
The room was nice. Very comfortable long sized bed with a nice and surprisingly comfortable couch. Too bad we had a pretty horrible view
Internet was $ 12.95 per night. Sucks.
They did offer a shuttle right to the pentagon for the race we were in town for. I thought that was pretty awesome. As the hotel we stayed in last year did not.
The hotel is a short walk from Crystal City which has lots of food places. Pentagon city is a short metro ride away as well.
