Law Office of Michael Ephraim

After reading reviews on both Unilocal and Google I must admit I was nervous at first about using this law firm. I had been separated with my spouse for two years and was actually looking to remarry. I needed a quick finalization of my divorce so I went with Michael Ephraim.
I filled out and submitted my intake on March 12^th. I received a personal call from Mr. Ephraim himself to go over the specifics on my case and what I needed. Mine was a little more complicated than most due to having my son involved, however my now ex husband was willing to sign all waivers and consent to my primary custody. My custody and property agreements were worked into all the paperwork.
After a week or so delay I became nervous and thought back to these reviews. I wrote in a harsh email explaining that I would seek out other counsel. I soon found out that David Grey would be handling my case and he called me personally to introduce himself and put my mind at ease. Once David had control of my case the process was smooth. I received all documents which were returned signed and notarized in a timely fashion. I was kept up to date on my case including the court date and all proceeding details. I explained I was shooting for the end of April and as of the 30^th my final divorce decree was signed and completed!
While I understand others frustration with this law office, that simply was not my expirience. I would recommend this law office to anyone and I am very pleased!

I had no problems with Ephraim Law. Michael Ephraim and David Grey were both friendly, helpful and on task!
Honestly, I read these reviews and was put off at first. So, I called Attorneys in the city I live in and NO FRIGGIN Attorney returned my call!!! Maybe my divorce case was so cut and dry that they KNEW they were gonna get much $$$?
Anyways, after my frustration with my Local Law Offices, I submitted my intake info to Ephraim Law on 2÷12÷15 for an uncontested divorce (no children, no alimony and provided a separation agreement already written and notarized/​signed). My Wasband and I got our paperwork done following Ephraim Law instructions and the final decree was signed 4÷2÷15. DING!!! — There’s the DONE bell!

I chose this firm through word of mouth for a divorce. A couple friends had used them and had good things to say, primarily saying that it was fast, but my experience was long/​drawn out and frustrating.
My divorce was clear cut with no kids and our finances were already settled. I hired them in March and the case didn’t settle until August. Six months. Throughout this ordeal, the communication was the most frustrating. They did not respond to emails and when I tried calling during business hours, it would take me to voice mail and they would never follow up. They said they were in the process of «upgrading their systems» but again… six months. The communication was consistently non-​existent the entire time. A reason this was so frustrating was because they would send me instructions (i.e., notaries) and after I completed them, I wouldn’t hear from them. At one point, I didn’t hear from them for almost two months after repeatedly leaving voice mails and sending emails. It seemed like they kept forgetting or losing my file and I had to call/​email every month to get it moving again. I can’t tell you how frustrating this was…
Also, their clerk, Emerson, tried scheduling my hearing and provided me with a date/​time and location. I showed up that morning and I was not on the list. He did not inform me that I was not scheduled. My brother, who was my witness, took his morning off for this. Again, communication issue and now my brother was affected by it.
As another reviewer noted, I also had to resend documents because they were insufficient (because of their ambiguous instructions).
I cannot recommend this firm to anyone… you get what you pay for. If I had to do it all over again, I would pay a little more for better service. This firm is low cost high volume and is risky.

I can swear to you that any positive review on this site for this law firm is fake. This is the worst service I have ever received!!! If for any possible reason you can’t find another lawyer and choose to go with these idiots please save all your paperwork because they will SCAM you and give you the run around for weeks!!! 1 year and $ 500 later I’m still not divorced. It’s a constant battle with these idiots to get them to do their job. I can go on and on but just writing about it makes me angry!

my husband and I needed a separation agreement done. it’s been amicable (as amicable as divorce can be), and we had already agreed on support, custody, etc. just needed someone to draw up the papers. I did a few consultations and everyone required at least a $ 2,000 retainer fee! just to draw up a document! I was hesitant to use this firm, but I’m so happy I did. I emailed them everything in the morning, had my agreement an hour later. Asked a question/​requested a change, had my agreement by the end of the day. If you have issues to argue out this may not be the place for you, but I was very pleased with everyone I spoke with and the quick turnaround time.

No issues for me… Just as promised fast and hassle free!!! I had a court date within 2 weeks of signing all the paperwork!

It has been over a year and I’m not divorced yet. I choose this place specifically for convenience and said it would take only several weeks.
I don’t even know where to begin with my frustration: lack of communication, they don’t log phone conversations, and don’t keep track of payments which makes me the angriest.
I sent a check and notarized document (for the third time because apparently the other two documents weren’t sufficient). May I add that I’ve had to send my signed papers three times as well?
After 6 – 8 weeks they don’t even bother to ask, oh we didn’t receive your final check… Did it get lost? No! I had to call. And of course I shouldn’t have to ask because I figure they are professional but I ask anyway,“should the lost check magically appear, are you going to cash it with the new one I’m sending?”

Stupid asses. They cashed both checks. These aren’t small change checks, otherwise I wouldn’t be so pissed. And the law office wants me to send my bank statement as if I did something wrong. No. No, I WONT. Check your genius record system and you will see YOUR mistake. Why didn’t the girl on the phone make a note that another check was made so don’t cash the «lost one»… I didn’t think I would have to cancel or void my lost check because GOD knows I can trust the law offices to have their shit together!!!
It just adds to the many mistakes and issues I’ve had over the year, this one just pisses me off the most.
I should have just filed in California. Having it done slow is better than full of misunderstandings and mistakes. Save yourself the trouble, choose another law office.

I’m not even sure there are «law offices.» I suspect that Ephraim’s paralegals work from home. The last time I called, I spoke to someone who sounded like a teenager, and who knew nothing about my case, could not contact Ephraim or the paralegal. I was told I’d be called. That was days ago. I don’t need hand-​holding, but I would like to know that I’m getting what I paid for. This was a big mistake. DO NOT send Ephraim a dime.

One week and it was DONE. Seriously, ONE WEEK. Fast, efficient service. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, especially the young men and women who were at the court house (paralegals? attorneys? not sure). They made a painful experience as painless as possible. Worth every penny — even though I was not the one who paid (he left — he paid). Still, if I had been the one to have paid — WORTH EVERY PENNY.
I will say though, if you’re looking to speak directly to a lawyer every single time, and have a lot of hand-​holding, this is NOT the place for you. If you just care about getting stuff done and can handle working through intermediaries — go for it. All I cared about was getting things done, and they got it DONE — in a WEEK. Amen.

Not money for nothing but very close. POOR communication. SLOW repsonse time. ERRORS in the paperwork. NO help.
Emails took 1 week to 2 weeks to get a response. Never received the same person more than once. Phone calls unreturned.
Hired a local attorney for $ 200 more and he was finished with my case in a matter of minutes.
