We are based in Arlington VA but our clients have weddings all across the United States and some even have them abroad. We are happy to travel and even have reduced travel fees for locations near our families in California, Florida, and North Carolina. In addition to weddings and engagements we take on commercial projects for a range of clients from big corporations to small businesses.

History

Established in 2007.

Nick studied graphic design in college and started working as a graphic designer while building significant interest in his photography from friends and clients. Two years later he had completely shifted his business focus to photography. In 2014, Erin joined the team and added video expertise to help expand their abilities to serve clients well. We now primarily focus on portraiture, weddings, and architectural photography.

Hi! We are Nick and Erin. We are a fun-​loving, adventure-​seeking, and creative husband and wife team and we are passionate about storytelling through photography. We care about our clients and work really hard to make sure that their wedding day is the best day of their lives – and that they have photos and films to preserve and share with all the important people in their lives – for the rest of their lives. We do this by finding out what makes each bride and groom special and what they care about and building authentic connections with them. Then we create a custom piece of art that reflects all the relationships, emotions, personalities, and moments of a wedding celebration.

So, let us start by saying that we loved Nick & Erin so much during our engagement photoshoot in DC that we asked them to join us 3,000 miles away in California for our wedding weekend! We cannot say enough wonderful things about these two. They truly go the extra mile to ensure your day is incredibly well-​captured in their photography. Their passion, creativity, artistry, and skill shine through with every shot. They are extremely well-​prepared, and it is very clear they have thought hard about each and every shot that needs capturing that day. Not to mention, they are just super fun people who will make you feel at ease on your special day – I honestly don’t know if I would have held it together without Erin’s and Nick’s laughter through it all. We look forward to hiring these two for all of life’s future milestones!

Nick and Erin were recommended by friends who said they loved their wedding photographer. We checked out our friends’ photos, and we were impressed by the clean but artistic style. When we met Nick, we liked his laid-​back personality and professionalism, and we were so happy to have Erin join as a second photographer for our wedding. Organization & Planning: Nick was organized and responsive throughout the wedding planning process; he made sure to keep us on track with providing shot lists and timelines in advance. He even met up with us a few weeks before our wedding to scout out photo opps at our venue. Day-​of: On the day of our wedding, Nick and Erin had the perfect combination of keeping us on track, getting people organized, capturing great shots, and being fun to spend the day with. They captured a great mix of formal and party shots. We especially appreciated that they good-​naturedly included «Steve,» our cardboard groomsman (because the real Steve was deployed), in both important and fun shots. Photos: We were so, so pleased with the quality of Nick and Erin’s photos, and we’ve gotten more compliments on them than we can count. Since our wedding, we’ve been dying for other friends to get engaged and plan local weddings so we can recommend Nick and Erin. We were pleased with all of our wedding vendors, but Nick and Erin were definitely at the top of our list!

Nick has been taking amazing pictures of friends and friends-​of-​friends for awhile, and they’ve always looked too good to be real, almost like they were shot and then sent to a Hollywood studio with terabytes of computing power to be reworked a few times. So, it was a no-​brainer to have him do our company pics. (The second time, actually).
I couldn’t be happier. Nick (and now Erin, who is also great to work with), are just freakishly talented. They showed up early in the AM to our new world HQ, site-​unseen, and set up quickly. I had a couple of ideas for shots, he had a couple of ideas, and we threw things together as fast as possible.
Then, naturally, none of the employees showed up on time, so we really didn’t have the «group photo» thing we wanted. There was office park traffic weaving around their equipment. One of my guys, who appeared in probably 50 photos, didn’t smile once (ironically, he’s one of the nicest, most gentle guys on my crew). Somehow, he gave me a cornucopia of awesome photos to use in our marketing efforts. Seriously — these make my little blue-​collar type of company look like an epic story. Or maybe a feature in Entrepreneur magazine.
Price: affordable and probably undervalued, actually. They could charge twice as much and it would still be less than the real value here. Don’t look anywhere else. Hire Nick & Erin.

I hired Nick because we needed professional-​quality photographs for our business, Captain Cookie and the Milk Man.
Nick impressed me off the bat with his resume and communication leading up to the shoot, and his rates were more than fair — I’d shopped around a bit before settling on him.
Nick showed up early and had an impressive array of equipment available — I honestly don’t know what everything does but the end result were absolutely knockout photos and video. We did a four-​hour shoot in several locations and Nick was flexible with traveling around based on the day’s conditions. He also was able to get in all the shots I wanted while suggesting many creative angles that I wouldn’t have thought of. This series of photos has already been used in several media stories about my business and I’m so glad I had them done, rather than relying on a home camera or something off facebook. In short, I was very happy with the rates, the service & communication, and above all the end results. Highly recommended!

My roommate and I make an annual Christmas card that we send out to friends and family. It’s one of our favorite traditions! This year, we stepped up our game and hired Nick to take some fun holiday-​themed photos for us. We brought several changes of clothes, but it was Nick that came up with ideas to use props like deer antlers, garlands, and Christmas lights to help us make our shoot much more fun and creative. He’s so easy to work with and we were both very comfortable. I know he’s done a lot of weddings and engagements, but I’d highly recommend him for a fun shoot like this! We’re so pleased with the photos and know our friends and family will love this year’s card!

Using Nicholas Donner at our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. He made us feel so comfortable and really made our day so special. He took amazing photos and captured so many special moments that I didn’t even know happened but I got to see later. You can tell Nick is very passionate about his work from the way he treats everyone to the amazing detail in every photo he takes. He sent us our pictures so quickly and having them on two flash drives made it so easy to download them and print them off. I would recommended him to anyone. I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer.

Nick was a wonderful catch! We met him early one Saturday morning on the National Mall for our engagement shoot. I wanted four outfit changes and thought it would take longer than the 2-​hour session, but he worked with us and made sure to get all the shots we wanted with all the outfits. Our pictures turned out wonderfully! He was open to our suggestions, but helped us look comfortable in front of the camera. We really wish we hadn’t booked our photographer for our wedding, because we would have seriously considered flying him back to Chicago to have him do our wedding!

We used Nick for both our engagement and wedding pictures. From the first day I met him I could tell he was going to be the perfect photographer for us. He is very professional, kind, fun and made us feel comfortable which made for great photos. I agree with the other review that he is easy to get a hold of, very proactive and accommodating. Nick was more than willing to meet us when it was best for us and even in Maryland where we live. He was very attentive to our needs for our engagement pictures and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome. We just had our wedding on August 3rd and already Nick send us a «Wedding preview». I was absolutely blown away at how he and his co-​worker were able to capture everything that went on at the ceremony and at the reception. They clearly captured all the good moments and all the photos we requested. I dont think I ever saw them stop taking pictures. There is so many things to say about Nick just trust me you wont regret using Nick for you wedding, special event or for a family shoot. He is a true artist and natural at what he does you cant learn that. My husband & I 100% recommend him.

I’ve attended several events which Nick has been the photographer for and was able to see his work after the fact. Amazing! His ability to capture the moment is second to none. Eventually, I asked him to take promotional video and pictures for a large-​scale event I plan every year and could not have been happier with the results. I’ve since referred him to several friends from everything from weddings to head shots and they’ve all been blown away with what he’s produced. Additionally, he’s extremely friendly, easy to work with, and still very professional. Can’t possibly say enough positive things about his work.
