The food is good, it’s Popeyes! However, the service is always pretty slow and the cashiers can be difficult to understand. I love their dipping sauces, but it’s hard to convince them to give you more than 3.

Halal meat at a Popeye’s?! Okay, I must say there is a first for everything. I have been to this location several times in the past and was in disgust with the food and service, but there seems to be new owners now and the place has been completely renovated. The new look is bright, airy and semi-clean with tons of New Orleans relics and Popeye’s branding all over the place. One thing I can say that hasn’t seemed to change for the better about this location is the service. It still seems to be the same… subpar, super slow and in need of bilingual cashiers badly! The food on the other hand is definitely a step up! I always order my favorite — 3pc Spicy w/Cajun Rice. The chicken was crispy… crunchy, hot, well seasoned and so fresh tasting. The biscuits are the best… soft, buttery with crispy edges. Ask for strawberry jelly… and a large throat burnin’ coke to wash it all down… heaven! Call it what you want, I think serving Halal meat makes a difference in the taste of the chicken. Not to get all deep into it, but how an animal is handled, cared for and slaughtered does make a difference in the tenderness and taste of the meat. Anyway, I digress. The rating is more of 3 ½ stars! The food is great but the customer service needs work. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to clean up every now and then in the dining area… it shouldn’t be a mess hall… literally! HONORABLEMENTION: This location is the only Popeye’s that I think actually have spicy fried chicken that taste similar what I have experienced and eaten at both the 1st Original Popeye’s in Arabi, Louisiana and the location in the French Quarters, New Orleans! The recipe seems to be toned down(very mild and vary) at most other franchise locations around the U. S; especially in the DC area.

Only giving 2 stars because I like the food. Customer service is garbage. I placed an order for the halal meat and I really couldn’t understand what the lady was saying so I’m trying to have patience but she wants to have the nerve to give me an attitude. Then when I asked if there’s anyone else I can speak to she says no I’m busy then hangs up! When I came in a time before that the guy who took my order never smiled and including the manager and all the other staff there looked like they hated their lives, bringing such negative energy in there.

Food is good but every time we have gotten takeout they have forgotten something. First time it was the extra biscuit we paid for, second time it was all the sauces. When I called they said“if you had asked for it we would have given it to you” thereby making it my fault. Clean but a little shabby — veneer peeling etc

A few months ago, I would have given this place a five star review. I always came here if I wanted Popeyes because the food always tasted fresh for what it is and it was spicy like it should be. The soda is also not as flat as other places. But I have had two separate bad visits now. Last time, I picked up my order to go and I found out that I was missing an entire side of fries! This time, I go and order my usual. The three piece chicken combo with fries and mashed potatoes. Guy tells me they have to make mashed potatoes and that it will be five minutes. I said no problem and waited. Ten minutes goes by and I notice other people getting mashed potatoes. Then he finally sees me and asks what I ordered. I reminded him three piece chicken with mashed potatoes and fries and that he had told me to wait. He said sorry but then had to ask what my order was again. Then told me that they are out of spicy chicken and that I will have to wait. Again. Then he finally says my order is ready. Just mashed potatoes side right? No I had fries too. I told him my order again. Obviously someone was not listening. Then I check the box, the chicken did not look right but he said it was spicy chicken. It is but I found out after I left to eat it that he had given me tenders which is NOT what I wanted. To his credit, he said sorry for the wait but it was a 30min ordeal for still the WRONG order. They had a few other customers but not a huge crowd so I do not get it. Will be trying the other chains for my Popeyes craving.

Since I order halal the chicken I get is always fresh, crispy, and juicy at the same time. The spicy flavors are awesome. Well worth a drive and my only wish is that all the sides would be halal as well. But I cant complain when the main attraction is that good.

Location is something that I will use my 5th Amendment lol… My in-laws 1st meal while visiting from ATL was here because of their Halal Chicken option. Always call and order in advance for Halal as it really does take around 30 minutes if you just walk up, I just save their number on my phone and call them when i have the cravings. One criticism I will give is to add more Halal Combo menu not just the large family option, some times it’s just my wife and I and we can only eat 4 pieces of chicken combined and getting 8 – 12 pieces is not worth it so we skip from coming here. I do wish more and more restaurants adapt the Halal option especially based on their location and demographics, it only helps their business and of course people like my in-laws who only eat Halal, me on the other hand… as long as it’s cooked, it goes down babayyyy!!!

HALALPOPEYES?! YESSSSIIR! Everything is cooked perfectly. Often see other Muslims in the restaurant and you do need to tell them at least 15 minutes before that you need halal chicken. But their food is SPOTON and even though its SO far away, I go their once a month!

As always, the chicken is fresh and up to Popeyes standards. Be on the look out for specials on the store windows because they don’t always advertise it on the store monitors. Popeye’s usually cycles through promotions so those are definitely the best deals. I consider Popeye’s to be a little more premium than KFC so I only get it on weekends to relax and unwind, but on Mondays and Tuesdays, they also run special deals. The service is slower than other fast food restaurants but in the same sense that you can’t rush creative genius, you can’t rush tender crispy fried chicken. The restaurant has a TV that’s always on CNN and tends to be pretty empty, so it’s perfect just enjoy some chicken while you sit there and ruminate over the news.

They seem to produce one piece of chicken every two minutes. So if the guy in front of you orders a family meal, you’re f**ked.

Poor service, staff isn’t familiar with the menu, and they leave stuff off the order. If you order to go, check everything they do, because you will walk out without at least two items you’ve paid for.

For some reason, this location has two listings, so posting on both to be sure. Foregoing the usual formula, because one thing sticks out as a major sore thumb here and that’s TERRIBLE customer service. The reviews on the other listing pretty much have the same recurring theme: (1) shady location (2) bad parking (3) incomprehensible employees and bad managers Stopped in on the way to work to pick up a 2-piecer plus mashed potatoes. Upon walking in, the two up front(looked like cashier and manager) looked up. I smiled; they DIDNOT smile back. I wasn’t even greeted. Manager went back to looking at his paperwork or whatever(I wasn’t in there long, I don’t remember) and the cashier went back to putting papers on trays. Cue few awkward minutes until I say«Hi, how you doing? May I order?» Seriously dumbfounding. Is it because I look like someone who doesn’t eat halal meat? It’s basic customer service to acknowledge. Topping on the cake, got the wrong mother*%#)$ side. Never coming back again. Seriously, make the drive to the one at 7 Corners; it’s cleaner, spacier, has seating, people greet and smile at you.

Customer service is unsatisfactory. It’s kind of a dull place too. I’d recommend carry out orders only. However, place is clean and has plenty of parking spots. If you’re looking to order HALAL chicken, call in at least 30 minutes early, halal chicken is only available upon request. This is the ONLY Popeyes around that serves halal chicken. Just make sure to order on the phone to prevent waiting. The chicken served here is halal and I’ve spoken to the owner myself(halal food are foods that are permissible for Muslims to consume). For meat(chicken, mutton, beef or lamb) to be halal, it has to be hand slaughtered in the name of God with good intentions, if you’re wondering what halal meat is. Muslims are forbidden to eat foods that aren’t halal. Other non-halal(haram) foods include but is not limited to alcohol, pork, food gathered in non-halal ways which could be with stolen money or simply meat from animals that were not slaughtered according to the Islamic rules. This place is the only Popeyes I know around that serves halal chicken. For Muslims it can be hard to find halal fried chicken at fast food joints like Popeyes. So if you found this, congrats!

Firstly, all of the chicken is halal at this Popeyes. Trust me, I have spoken to the owner. The only issue is the oil in the deep fryer. If requested, halal chicken is deep fried in a seperate fryer which does not contain beef fat. It’s made to order per request. And only if you are buying a large sized order 8 or more pieces. Except to wait or call ahead. The chicken is very tasty and when cooked in veggie oil, the taste is fresher, in my honest opinion. The located is little cramped for parking. I don’t mind slow service as long as the food is good and hot. Which is always the case when you request halal.

Positive: Only Halal Popeye’s in the USA with fresh, tasty food that the chain is known for. Negative: Everything is made to order — meaning there is a long waiting time. Only chicken pieces and sandwich are halal, everything else is not(chicken tenders, etc) Overall: Hey its the only Halal Popeye’s in the USA!

If I could give this place a negative rating I would. Now I normally go to the popeyes in seven corners where it is cleaner and the chicken is only kept for 30 minutes. I stopped by this popeyes cause it was closer to work. Boy, DO I REGRETIT! First this popeyes isin a shady location, second the parking here sucks. But what really upset me was that I ordered a 2 piece dinner, I get back to work and the chicken is not only dry but BLACK. I called to speak to a manager but the person on the other end who barely spoke english(not to say that its bad but I had to speak to her in spanish to get my point across) said he was not there. I explained why I was upset, she said that I could bring it back and exchange it. Im sorry but I only have 30 minutes for lunch and will not drive back and risk another shoddy piece of chicken. Then she proceeded to argue with me and say that she doesnt sell old chicken… um. I told her«Hello, I am looking at the piece of black dried out chicken in front of me» I asked for her managers name, she then said«oh he is here but busy, oh nevermind he is not here you call later» I finally got his name and will be calling back. But TRUSTMEDONOTGOHERE!!! Save your money go to another location.

The service is horribly slow, but I can’t resist Popeyes. It always tastes so good! I wish it had a drive through and a bigger parking lot.
