River Legacy

I love this park! It’s an emerald gem in a city of concrete.
They have a loop around the park that is about 1.19 miles, which I appreciate because it forces me to run the whole lap to get back to my car! LOL. Whenever I try running at the track, I always get lazy after a 400m lap and head home, but here, I have no choice but to finish. I’m pathetic, I know.
I recently rode my bike alongside my boyfriend as he ran here. It was my first time going deep in the trails, and we saw many other runners, walkers, bikers, DOGS, and 2 bobcats! There are moments of shade, of sun, of bridges, of creeks, and of silence. It was just super chill biking and exploring.
They also have mountain bike trails, playgrounds for kids, a workout area, picnic tables, and pavilions with grills. There’s an open area where I’ve seen people play flag football too.
Parts of the park remain flooded for a few days after big storms, so I would double check to see if the park is open after heavy rains.
It’s worth mentioning that I feel safe as a solo female here. I’ve never had a weird encounter or seen anything sketchy occur. It’s a busy enough park to be around strangers if you want, but it doesn’t feel crowded.

Kids play ground and monkey bars need shade kids can’t play during day because it’s too hot to play on. Other than that it is a nice park with trails and nice bench area.

A very shaded area for a run it is all paved and beware the bobcats do come out during the day and don’t wonder of the trail there are snakes. It’s very clean and easy to get to with plenty of parking.

Beautiful trails, pretty clean, great informative signs along the way of different animals/​wildlife you may see. A great escape from city life. Highly recommend!

Nice scenic views. There was a bob cat in our path it was beautiful and not scared of us at all. My husband and I kept our distance but we had to laugh when a father with a small child approach the cat quickly and called to it here kitty kitty. Not at kitty sir. The bob cat ran in to the woods. Be carful of the bikers at this park most move very quickly and do not announce their presence when approaching from behind. Warring this park is very close the sewage treatment plant and sometimes can smell like raw sewage.

Fantastic trails. Good for walking, running or cycling.
Enjoyed the environment, calm but very pretty.
Great for the after work workout.

Beautiful trail for biking or a quick run! Who knew, honestly that this area had such great scenery and nature. I’m not knocking ya, Arlington, but I’m just saying. It’s very shaded and scenic back there and lots of folks frequent this trail during the day. It’s definitely a great area to make a day of it outdoors and have a lil picnic.

I like this park it’s nice well kept and the trails are long. I used to run the really long trail until one day I saw a bobcat and kittens crossing the trail and it scared the crap outta me. I haven’t ran it since I do run the shorter wooded trail cause more ppl travel on that one so the animals won’t really hang out there. I don’t know if the animals on the trail will attack or not and I just can’t take that chance so I have to drive all the way to another park or trail to get my long mileage in. Besides the wild animals the more public areas are nice and they have a really cool kids play area too. If I had a kid I would take them there.

Nice park for cycling the trails. Just don’t stay too late or you will be locked in.

I’m so thankful I live so close to River Legacy. It’s such a wonderful park that everyone can enjoy.
River Legacy has a big 1.5 ish mile that goes around the whole park. It also has two main trails that are easy to miss if you don’t know about them. One of them is 7 miles one way and it has other trails where you can kinda tangent off to. It also has a few creeks so you can really appreciate nature. The other is about 2 or so miles one way as well. The shorter trail has other trails built in so if you’re willing, you can go explore those. Be warned, they’re easy to get lost in.
In addition to wonderful trails, RL recently added some playgrounds and added a work out area. In total there are 3 playgrounds and a work out area.
They also have picnic areas that have places where you can BBQ. When the weather is nice, it will be hard to find a picnic area because everyone has the same idea.
I would definitely recommend this park to anyone who wants to go for a run, find out what kind of future dog you want (I do this while I go for a run), have a picnic, or have a fun family day.

This is a great park! It’s so nice to have a nature area this vast in the middle of the metroplex. The play areas are great. We hosted my nephews 2^nd birthday at the pavilion and it was perfect!
The place is well maintained and the endless trails are great!
We attended Friday Night Food Trucks recently in the park and it was the perfect Friday night! They had 6 – 8 foot trucks and live music. Everyone was out with their chairs eating and enjoying each other — it’s great to have a place like this so close to home!

This is a nice and clean park. It is extremely large. There is plenty of paved trail, along with mountain bike trails and hiking trails. Most of the trails are shaded so it’s a good place to workout in the summer.
The longest trail runs along the Trinity River. You can get about 12 miles on it if you start from the entrance of the park. There are spots along the way that seem very secluded. In fact, east of Collins there is no way to exit the trail except to turn around and go back. That is the portion I would recommend to road cyclists, as there isn’t as much pedestrian traffic.
If you’re looking for something where you can be more visible, or maybe keep an eye out your kids at the park, there is also a loop around two different playgrounds and a pond.
Your more than likely to spot armadillos as the sun starts to set. And occasionally you’ll see bobcats.

One of my favorite parks I have ever been to. The bike trails are perfect. All shaded with plenty of room. They keep it very clean and kept.

This is the best park I have come across in Arlington. They have several areas for you to host a picnic and several playgrounds areas for kids to play. The running/​bike trail is awesome and very scenic for those who love looking at nature.

This is a pretty perfect park. I can’t see how it could get much better, unless you added some scenic mountains in the background and an ocean view. Or maybe if you could guarantee gorgeous weather all the time. But we’re not in southern Cali, folks, we’re in North Texas, and River Legacy is a phenomenal park for these here parts.
I didn’t realize just how big this park is until I finally visited. I drive past it’s Green Oaks entrance all the time, but never really considered it’s size. 1,031 acres! Beautiful trees, a ton of bike/​walking paths, a great playground, picnic areas, and plenty of wide open space as well. It’d be pretty hard to get bored with River Legacy; there’s too much space to explore. I’m kind of scared I’ll get lost here, actually!
You’ll see lots of activity here during the day. A ton of joggers, people pushing baby strollers, cyclists, dog walkers. It’s a nice community of out-​and-​about neighbors.
I hope to spend more time here when it gets a bit warmer, I’m a ninny in the cold. But I’ve been known to be lazy and drive through this park (as far as the road will take me), because I enjoy the view anytime of year!

I have lost count the number of hours that I’ve spent writing my bike walking the trails and just being one with nature in this park. I’ve had the privilege of seeing everything from armadillos two raccoons to possums too dear to bobcat to pigs to you name it and the number of birds owls and the light are countless. I’ve been able to bring my cousins I godchildren and people significant in my life to enjoy the wonders of this park. This is a great park for those that are in average runner walker cyclist or just a group of people looking to have fun on the grass on the trail or in an examination of nature. The trails are kept beautifully maintained and yet avoid disruption of nature. Make sure to go there a different hours of the day as the nature itself changes as does the sun. With each season you’ll find new wonders new colors new trees new plants don’t animals mature animals take shape throughout time which is the beauty of continuously returning to the same parts of the same park and discovering new ones with each adventure.
Don’t forget to take a small detour to the living science center where the pond outback you will discover turtles fish sometimes waterfowl it’s absolutely a stunningly beautiful and well-​kept treasure that is free to the public and I encourage you to donate to such a wonderful institution of learning for young children.

Three days into my trip to Dallas the sun finally came out! After sitting through 3 days worth of lectures and only leaving the hotel to eat, I looked up a nice place to take a walk.
This definitely made me wish I had more time with which to explore. I only took an hour walk, the trail was a bit flooded in some spots (causing me to turn around) and I didn’t get to see one bobcat! It was definitely beautiful though! The paved trails even have lines down the middle for «traffic» — I wish we had that on Houston trails!
Definitely a place I’d like to return to if I’m ever in the area.

This park has everything for everybody and every age. It is big beautiful, perfectly maintained on the paved roads as well as off the pave, on the playgrounds, picnic areas, and along the water, every corner is clean, groomed and been taken care of.
the paved trail is pleasant for hiking or road cycling, and the off road bicycle trails are just awesome being suitable for all levels of riders. Beginners to advanced adventurers can fined their beloved part of a trail here.
this place is a must see/​do for hiking biking or just for a picnic.
They also have a place where you can take a kayak down to the water, but I’ve never seen someone do that, although I’m sure it must be beautiful to pedal up and down that stream.

I have only been to the park once for a picnic and it was nice. There was plenty of parking and it was very clean.
What I love about this park is the trail. I go biking there at least once a week. I like that there are different parking lots to access the trails as I prefer to be away from the families and groups walking on the trails since they don’t really know trail ettiquette. I’ve seen hawk, armadillos and a couple of bobcats.
It’s my go to spot for an afternoon ride.

I went here with my father years ago, it has a beautiful hiking trail and great areas to sit around. It’s a large park, and if you’re not careful, you could easily be lost, but it’s worth it either way.
I believe I’ve already mentioned beautiful, and if you were to take someone on a date, might I recommend this park? Hanging out with a friend, may I recommend River Legacy? Picnicking? Frisbee? Dog Walking? This park is always available. The open fields, the hiking trails, my god this is perhaps the best park in this area. Of course, this is coming from a fan of nature and the outdoors.
