Not bad BBQ but not 5 star. I visited this location on a recommendation, I was told this was in a gas station. but I reserved no judgement because some of the best places to eat are in odd locations. Although in a gas station setting, it’s a franchise chain location. Clean environment, open seating, picnic style. Before I give any review of the food I must comment on the service. Good service can overshadow mediocre food. The service was friendly and welcoming, so we’re off to a good start… I went there for lunch and ordered the regular sausage and pork ribs. Meats are priced by the pound. I had ½lb of the ribs(5 bones) and whole sausage link split in halves. Grand total…$ 14.44, with drink… eh. that’s all I’ll say on that. Both items were juicy and smoky with a nice smoke ring on the ribs. Their house sauce is a Rudy s blend, probably proprietary and a Sissy sauce, also a house blend both can be purchased. Overall, the experience was pleasurable, I would not object to returning again. That’s all… Thanks for reading.

This place is great, great food, great staff. I have had moist brisket, pit ham(very underrated!) baby backs, pulled pork, sausage. Loved all of it. No need to go any further.

sooooo ummm this is a messy, place. Dont wear anything you dont want to get stained or ruined by the fact you eat your pricey dry bbq on gross old school tray from the 70’s. We brought the whole fam here on a day that the rest of DFW had the same plan. Anywho, the bbq was dry, tough, and burnt on the ends. The veggies were nasty cold tasting, beans were 75% juice and 25% beans, they are ridiculously expensive, I think the veggies were 8.99 a pint! OUCH for bean juice and vinegar tasting cole slaw. Not many selections. I ate at the one in Amarillo way better food and service. It was busy that day when we went also. I guess its always that busy. O well ‘nough said.

Grew up in Texas and been away too long. The Moist Beef Brisket falls apart when you pick it up with a fork. Perfect amount of smoke flavor.

Moist brisket, smoked Turkey Breast, cream corn all so so good! Order up front, lime goes really quick and since it was our first time, the server handed us different meat samples to try before we ordered; great idea. Only thing we didn’t care for was the coleslaw; needs a bit more seasoning. Overall great family meal!

Food was good ol BBQ… you have to purchase meats by the pound. Price are about the same as any other BBQ joint. Its good if want a late night BBQ. I didn’t care for the baby back ribs though they had a black pepper rub on them and they were too dry.

Rudy’s is just a place you can never go wrong with. I went to Rudy’s in Denton quite a few times over the years. I just went to the location in Arlington for the first time. They just never dissapoint. I ordered the pork ribs… I think and a brisket sandwich, beans and corn on the cobb. I was so hungry… really all I needed was the sandwich. I took the left overs home. My sister had a potato, sandwich and the ham. The ham was really good. I think next time I would get the ham sandwich. Everything was delicious and I’ll keep coming back. They have a drive thru as well and that’s really convenient if you don’t want to sit inside.

This is my second time visiting Rudy’s. The very first time my cousin took me here I was quite confounded to why they decided to take me to a gas station when we were supposed to be getting BBQ. Being born in Colorado, BBQ is almost foreign to me. So you pretty much go up to the counter, you can grab some sides and desserts from the fridge before ordering. My cousin ordered a smörgåsbord of everything and anything on the menu and a loaf of bread is included. The moist brisket was my favorite. So succulent and flavorful! My second visit I was introduced to their green chili stew which was pretty darn delicious. What makes green chili stew a stew because it pertains potatoes? I pondered to myself as I gulped down a second serving of that hearty good stuff.

So much yes! As it was my first time in Texas I wanted to try some BBQ… I mean leaving without trying it would be a horrible thing! I love the barnyard feel of this place. Also, the way the soda bottles are arranged in the front! Too cute. Beef brisket sandwich: There is a ton of meat which was surprising for how amazing the price was! Whatever you do, don’t forget to grab side of jalapeños/pickles/onions in the front by the drinks. Oh, and that BBQ sauce on the table… Pour that sucker on! I tried both the spicy and the normal one. Cream corn: This is great, because it’s like corn on the cob with butter slathered all over it BUT they have done all the hard work of getting the corn off the cob for you! Goodbye messiness and hello. cleanliness? The sides all come in styrofoam cups. Until next time Texas. You keep showing ‘em how gas station restaurants stay classy. :)

I first tried Rudy’s in Austin and may have been starving or exhausted but I always and still remember it being so delicious. This location does not live up to that but it’s also not terrible, and a decent go-to place for me. The cashiers here have always been helpful and friendly, even during a busy rush. You enter. You order, pay, and get your food in one go. You grab condiments at the condiment station(or a drink/soda if you got one). You find a table. You sit. You pick original BBQ sauce or sissy sauce. You eat. I’ve only ever tried their lean brisket(at all locations) once and it was not the business. Their moist brisket is where it’s at and I usually get a pound or two of it with a side of cream corn or red potatoes. The cream corn is usually good but can be bland every now and then. They give you all of this in a bucket tray thing with some bread. I’ve gotten the sausage a couple times and it’s also good and have different flavors. Again it’s not the best BBQ I’ve had but being a chain, it’s not so bad.

What I have not reviewed this place yet? Well how rude of me. My review is mainly for their breakfasts. We love to stop by on weekend mornings and pick up some breakfast tacos. Your choice of meat with egg and cheese They pack the tortilla full of the good fixens for a little over fair price. They are not cheap by any means but boy are they ever good. See you next weekend.

Good food. Not the best bbq but it’s always consistent. I always get the moist brisket, sausage, potato salad, and cream corn. Tried my wife’s lean brisket, certainly not as tender, but not bad. The cashier was super rude with mega attitude. Threw my food in the basket and gave me the death eye for asking for more than 4 slices of bread. Definitely not as friendly as the Austin locations.

nearly four years later, Rudy’s is still really solid. They’re probably the best BBQ chain in the state, by a very wide margin. They make a solid moist brisket(order it extra moist), great jalapeño sausage(they also make regular sausage which is tasty, too), and an addictive cream corn. I haven’t tried much beyond brisket and sausage, but why would you NOT try at least the brisket at a Texas BBQ place? Lots of space for larger groups, and the atmosphere of the place(picnic tables inside of a garage-looking restaurant with a gas station outside) makes for a laid-back and kind of quirky dining experience. If you want a primer to Texas BBQ, Rudy’s is a perfect spot. Solid, solid place.

How is this place so fast when they seem to have the most inefficient drive through ever?! They have one window and you order, pay, and receive your food all at the same spot but the food came out quickly and was hot and perfect! Ordered the brisket with a side of three bean salad, creamed corn, and potatoes. The corn and potatoes were nothing exciting perry bland. BUT the brisket and beans were super tasty so I will give them another shot. Yum!

I ABSOLUTELY love this place. My brother, who is the biggest BBQ critic in the world, finds this place agreeable too. I have not particularly liked«American BBQ,» but this place has changed my stance on that. I had resisted going here in the past and now I wish I hadn’t. The first thing I had was a loaded baked potato. You can excuse this choice because I got this order the first time I gave this place a chance. BUT hey, there was still bbq meat in it! I got the brisket added to it and it was phenomenal. It was way too filling and a terribly unhealthy meal, but who cares? No one eats BBQ thinking it’s good for their health and well being. Since then, every visit of mine has composed of getting the moist brisket and a sausage. They sell their meats priced per half a pound. If you’re getting the lean brisket from here, then you mine as well get your bbq from Arby’s(Arby’s has BBQ right?)… You get what I’m trying to convey. If you don’t let me spell it out for you(=P) if you’re not getting the moist brisket, you need to be. They cook it so well and the several times I’ve now been to this restaurant it hasn’t failed me. They have a few sausage options and you can get a whole sausage or a half order. Their jalapeño sausage is good and it’s the one I always order now. I can’t remember their other types at the moment because the jalapeño one has become my go to. They have a «condiment» bar which(outside of the normal condiments) has jalapenos, pickled carrots, pickles, cherry jalapenos(I think that’s what they’re called), raw onions, and plastic bags for you to take some home with you if you have a to go order. I normally get a large order if we decide to do family night at home but want outside food. Most large orders come with a loaf of bread and a bottle of their bbq sauce. They have two(2) types of BBQ sauce, original or sissy sauce. The original is spicier than the sissy sauce. I prefer the taste of the sissy sauce better though, despite having a love for spicy things. To go orders don’t take a long time so no need to call ahead unless you’re going at peak hours. One complaint, they have hard paper towels that are in rolls around the restaurant that are like those at truck stops. They don’t work very well.

My family and I really like getting a lot of different cuts to go. I love that after a certain amount of pounds are ordered they give you an entire bottle of BBQ sauce and a loaf of bread so don’t forget to ask for it. The sides are all you can(but need) to get so don’t be greedy. I recommend the moist brisket and sausages. Typically we get 10lbs for the brisket but this time we got 5.5 lbs of the moist brisket and got a bottle of the sissy sauce for free. We normally get the more spicy option but we still had half the bottle at home so we tried this one out and it was still good. They have a non moist brisket option but I’ve never tried it because juicy meat is what people most prefer right? The brisket is so versatile so I think it’s the best option. The moist is $ 7.99 for half a pound and cost varies by each cut and type. I also got a whole jalepeno sausage which was good and much spicier than me or my sister anticipated. I’m normally a whimp when it comes to spicy but I couldn’t stop eating it. My sister prefers spicy and at first because it’s a jalepeno sausage it wasn’t as mild as she thought it’d be but she liked it too. You can get half a sausage if you prefer over a whole one and they have a regular sausage too, if you don’t like spicy. There’s a very large side bar of raw onions, jalepeno mixture with carrots, pickles and a milder smaller pepper. They have paper baskets if you’re eating in but plenty of small plastic bags if you’re taking your food to go. The staff is very polite and they typically get my to go orders out to me very quickly. Although I’ve never eaten inside I think it’d be nice to. The seating is all wooden park like tables and benches. I will be coming back the next time my fam wants some BBQ.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Rudy’s to me the best BBQ is never from a chain. I have been passing up this location for years when chilling in the Arlington area but this time I was tempted to stop. I was also in a hurry so a drive-thru was perfect, I have never been there but I thought the pulled pork sandwich would be pretty safe to order but even better they had a pork loin sandwich so that was my choice. Good pork loin is hard to pull off, more often than not it’s overcooked and dry but this sandwich was moist and tender. I could taste the smoke in the meat as well. I was impressed by the meat and the potato salad was pretty good. What I didn’t care for was the BBQ sauce. Sweet Baby Ray’s is actually better but in all reality good meat doesn’t need any sauce and fortunately my sandwich didn’t need any sauce. I’m encouraged from my recent visit to go back and give some of the other menu options a try. I’m not a fan of chain BBQ places but I could become a fan of Rudy’s if the next visit is much of the same.

Pretty darn good BBQ! We were in the area and decided to finally check out Rudy’s. When we came in, it wasn’t as crowded around 12:30. I ordered the Jalapeño Sausage and a corn on the cob as my side. My hubby ordered the brisket and two ribs. The Jalapeño Sausage was quite tasty. It had the right amount of flavor and it wasn’t dry at all. The brisket was really good and ver moist. The ribs were great as well and easily fell off the bone. The corn on the cob was really good as they drown it with butter. None of the other sides they offered sounded appetizing to me. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in the area.
