Shirlington Cleaners

Do not use this dry cleaner! The customer service is horrible and seems to never change. I continued to bring all of my dry cleaning to this location despite the high prices, but after being told that they misplaced one of my favorite shirts I will never use them again. I live and work in Shirlington so this is more of an inconvenience to me, and honestly after reading so many poor reviews I am shocked that this business is still running in the Village. They misplaced an expensive blouse that I had dropped off with other items, told me to come back in 2 weeks in hopes of it being found, and when I returned it was clear that they had not located the missing item and were not holding themselves accountable for the mistake. I was told that the article was «old anyway» being that it was purchased a year earlier, and the cashier laughed about it saying that it was just a shirt. This was a $ 350 silk blouse that I really loved. It stills makes me cringe to walk by this place and see the same faces working inside.

I dropped off my clean North Face jacket for a zipper repair. It was returned with a new zipper pull, for which I paid $ 20. The repair was adequate. However, while in the care of Shirlington Cleaners, my jacket was damaged. It was returned with what appeared to be a dark burn stain. I was told to return at a specific time, my work time, to speak with the manager. My girlfriend went on my behalf and was treated very rudely. The manager accused me of burning my own jacket. We posted a review after that, but it was removed. I’m upset about having to pay for a zipper pull on my favorite winter jacket, that was returned unfit to wear, as well as having to purchase a replacement for close to $ 300.

I would not recommend anyone going here. The cashiers are very rude. They have 0 customer service.
Often times I drop clothes off with notable things that should be cleaned. When I get my clothes back its all looks the same, not cleaned or anything. I often wonder if they just press it and done.
Anyhow, I really would stay away. They damage clothes, take no responsibility and provide no customer service.

Terrible customer service! My partner dropped off a $ 200 North Face white soft shell jacket to have the zipper repaired. After we picked it up, we discovered a huge brown stain (or what appears to be a burn mark) on the sleeve. We went back the same day to show them and the woman working behind the counter said we’d have to speak to Mrs. O, the owner/​manager. Since Mrs. O wasn’t working, we asked for a phone number. It was weird, the employee wouldn’t give us any contact info. So then we badgered her to find out when Mrs. O would be working next. She told us to come back on a Saturday morning, that that was when Mrs. O was typically there. Took the jacket back on a Saturday and Mrs. O told us she would have to do some investigating and that her daughter would call us on Thursday regarding the outcome. Not sure why the daughter would be calling us and not Mrs. O herself. Bottom line: they said the stain was there when my partner dropped it off. Why would we pay to have a zipper replaced on a jacket with a huge permanent stain on it??! They basically said we were liars. I suspect someone in their shop thought we wanted it cleaned in addition to having the zipper fixed. Then, they went to press it and realized the fabric burns under heat. Of course they are not willing to take responsibility. Looks like others have had the same issue with this dry cleaner… clothing becoming lost or damaged and the customer accused of being dishonest. Do not trust them with your clothes!

I have always thought that the personnel that work there have been courteous and I have always had my clothes on time. But I do feel that the quality has decreased a bit over the past year, which I overlooked as it was so convenient. However, it has now passed where quickly after putting it on, it does not even look pressed, so I do not feel it has the professional look for how much I have been paying for it. There are much better options in the area. They charged nearly $ 20, for a small throw blanket, and I am not even sure if it was cleaned.
The main negative of this dry cleaners is the price. Must be close to 4x more expensive than other dry cleaners in the area.

This dry cleaner is awful. Read all the reviews below– they are consistent and the truth!
My husband was using this dry cleaner because his apartment was in Shirlington, so it was convenient. I gave him a designer cashmere sweater to dry clean. A month later, he told me when he went to pick it up they could not find it. He put me in touch with the manager, Kathy. I called Kathy, and since it had now been two months, how could they continue to look for it? I expressed my disappointment. Kathy asked about the sweater. I had forwarded her a link to the same sweater online (just different color). I told her I had bought it last season, but, it was only the second time I had dry cleaned it, that it was in brand new condition. Really, Not much I could do here. I specifically asked her, «have you gone onto Unilocal!to see your reviews? They are not good. Does that matter to you?» No. Apparently she, and the owne, do not care. She took it upon herself to ‘depreciate the value of my sweater over a year’s time and account for use. So, for a sweater I paid $ 300 for, they sent me $ 50.
Bottom line… if you have a piece you don’t care about, then you probably don’t care about talking a chance. But, if you have a piece you don’t want to take a chance on, RUN… don’t walk… RUN for the door. These dry cleaners are a dime a dozen. Take your business elsewhere. These folks don’t care.

I have been bringing my clothes here for over a year. It is super convenient as I currently reside in Shirlington Village. The morning staff lady is really nice, courteous and welcoming. The staffer that works afternoons and evening is extremely rude. She yelled at me one evening when I came to drop off clothes because I hadn’t separated my blouses from my husband’s shirts. Apparently, they are priced differently and must be separated so that I can pay more for my blouses than his shirts. It’s all in her tone. All she had to do was calmly explain her preference and I would have heeded her warning.
Today, I pulled out a freshly dry cleaned shirt out of the plastic to wear to work. It wasn’t 5 minutes until I noticed that the shirt is torn near the elbow and marked with a red piece of tape. It wasn’t torn when I dropped it off. If it was, wouldn’t they have called prior to dry cleaning to let me know. Either way, I was never told that my shirt was torn. So now my $ 75 blouse has a tear near the elbow. I’m over it.
So, now on the hunt for a new dry cleaner. Though it may not be as convenient, I don’t have to deal with bad customer service and less than quality work.

Horrible place. Rude workers who are very inconsiderate. I decided to take my uniforms there because it was the most convenient. Every week the price went up and the quality sucked. I asked for heavy starch and I consistently got no starch. I honestly did a better job at it doing heavy starch at home. This place has misplaced and ruined several of my belongings.

I will not go here again. They destroyed an article of clothing of mine and insisted that I gave it to them in that condition. I asked to speak with the owner and the first call back I received was from a very rude employee who sought to fight with me about the situation. I did not argue with her and again asked to speak with the owner. The second call I received was from a manager who was polite, but also suggested that my article of clothing was destroyed when they received it from me. The only reasonable recourse I have in this situation is to do business someplace else and warn all of you to be cautious when using this cleaner. As I sat to write this review, I did take note of others who have had similar experiences to mine. I also noted a pattern in the reviews showing that this cleaner has employees who are rude to customers and that they have previously destroyed or damaged clothing and then disclaimed responsibility. I hope this review helps.

Price is a bit higher than other location, but convenient since I work in Shirlington. I never have problem with not having my clothes ready for pickup. (As of 5÷15÷12) .
The only problem or issue I have is that I don’t like it when they staple the tag onto my tag or my clothes. It happened too often now. I rather them loop around the tag then staple, so I can just tore off the tag instead of having to use the stapler remover (not mentioning overtime it will ruin the tag… I just like to keep my clothes intact, including the tag, hence that’s why I chose to dry clean).
There is a 15minutes «express» parking for you to park and drop off/​pick up so you don’t have to drive around to look for a regular parking space.
Would I come back here again? Only if I really have to.

The poor reviews should have been my first indicator. First, it is way over priced for the quality of the cleaning received. Secondly, they promised me my garments the next day but they weren’t even ready when I showed up to pick them up!!! To add insult to everything they still charged me full price after being rude and arguing with me. PLEASE do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

Do not go to this dry cleaner. They are consistently rude AND do a terrible job. They ruined a brand new shirt and then fought with me about it — insisting that it was somehow my fault. It’s unfortunate because if you live in Shirlington Village the locaton is very convenient but I would rather drive than give them any more business.

this is the worst cleaner ever. too $$$$ for the quality of work. i dropped my shirts off and they assumed that they were not cotton shirts, and hence need to be dry cleans. which is $ 5/shirt…when i went to pick them up, the shirts had stains on them!!!
go anywhere else but this place

Convenient, they are bit over priced and I believe they incorrectly pressed my collars — which really pisses me off. Open from 7 am to 7 pm, the hours are fine for the pre-​work drop off and the after work pick-​up. And they offer same day return before 10 am.
Although, an employee whom allowed me to drop clothes off 5 mins after closing was a lifesaver.
