History

Established in 2002.

Siné (pronounced «Shin-áy) Irish Pub and Restaurant in Pentagon City in Arlington VA opened in 2002. Modeled after authentic «city pubs» in Ireland, parts of Siné’s rustic interior were actually designed and built in the mother country then transported across the Atlantic. The result is a comfortable and traditional Irish pub accessible to all next to the Pentagon City Mall and just off the Yellow and Blue line metro stop. With cozy snugs, a huge bar and spacious dining areas, patrons will agree — Siné lives up to its Gaelic name — «This is it!». Large Parties welcomed!

Pubs in Ireland are a community gathering place — a comfortable place for family and friends to spend some time together. At Siné, we’ve tried to create the same atmosphere with great food and plenty of cozy areas to sit and relax. Our menu includes traditional Irish pub fare as well as American food served with a Celtic flair. We serve lunch, after work specials, dinner and Sunday brunch.

The entrees were meh but they had a great HH & the server was so sweet.
Pros —
— Large patio with nice sunlight & umbrellas when it’s too hot
— HH until 7 PM with $ 5 apps & $ 5 rail/wine/beers
— Quick patio service & very friendly server
— Good crab dip with toasted pita
— My friends enjoyed the fish & chips (huge serving — easily split between 2 people) & the quesadilla
Cons —
— The steak salad was pretty terrible (I know, who orders a salad at a pub — my bad). The steak was chopped up into little nibbles so definitely not cooked to order — medium rare. The raspberry vinaigrette was terrible so I went without dressing.
I’ve also heard they have live music on Thursdays so I’m sure that’s fun!
Solid spot for HH & some apps but I’d personally skip the entrees.

I recently moved across the street from this location and love it as a quick go-to dinner or happy hour option.
The food is solid, pub fare — nothing too complex, but great if you’re looking for something meat-and-potatoes-y. My favorite menu options are the fish & chips and the chicken & waffles.
Note: Also a great brunch option; offering $ 1 mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Great place to spend a Thursday afternoon drinking cold beer and eating nachos. It’s located in the vibrant pentagon city area with ample outdoor seating if the weather is nice. They have an excellent selection of beer and a decent food menu. The staff is usually very attentive and professional. This is definitely one of my favorite pubs in the area.

4 stars for the best waitstaff! Menu is limited, but thoroughly enjoyed my Shepherds Pie! We ate outside on the patio, near the fire. Really nice atmosphere for a Spring evening. And great for kids, who can get rowdy. tip. if you are under the trees, cover your drink, birds tend to poop over the tables.(but that’s not the restaurant’s problem, so I don’t fault them)

I got the Shepherd’s Pie because I heard it was good. It was delightful! I don’t think most the people I was with enjoyed their food as much as I did (different dishes-mostly burgers/sandwiches), but the salmon salad looked really good too.

Just hosted my promotion and reception here last week in Siné’s back fireplace room. Incredibly flexible on arranging large groups and setting up food for the event. Reasonable prices (no room charge) and the Shepard’s Pie and Irish Nachos were stand-outs. The manager, Amy, did a great job accommodating our growing group, while service staff… especially Hernan (?) was outstanding in making sure everyone kept a drink in their hand! They do a great job catering to the needs of the nearby Pentagon community/workforce and earn the informal moniker as the Pentagon’s O-Club. Keep up the good work!

It’s five stars if Kelly is behind the bar. She starts a Guinness for me the second I come through the door. Unfortunately, for some reason she actually has a couple days off each week. Most of the other staff is good, but Kelly is the best.
In most ways, Sine’ is the epitome of the American version of an Irish pub. The food is outstanding. Of course they have good fish and chips but the Blarney Salmon is top notch. The pub salad and «beggar’s banquet» are also noteworthy. They also have some excellent desserts.
Fresh Guinness on tap (although served a tad too cold.) And for some reason, several other beers, too.
Brunch on weekends is good, especially the eggs Benedict. However, the weekend service can be lackadaisical.
One of the top choices for a «pub» in the DC metroplex.

I frequent Pentagon city restaurants a lot. I’ve only been to Siné once. I wasn’t too impressed. First thing that turned me off was I ordered a pint of Guinness. The Guinness came in frozen pint glass and had strange bubbles on the inside of the glass that I’ve never seen before, especially when ordering at an Irish themed restaurant. I then ordered an appetizer of calamari and maybe had just a couple bites, it was not good. Was very dry, and this might be the first time I’ve ever not eaten a whole order of calamari. After that I cut my experience here short and asked for the check.

Here is another pseudo-Irish pub that is part of a chain that started down in Richmond. The place is laid out nicely with several sections, but it is the action in the back room that brings me back often.
Siné plays its weekly pub trivia game on Sunday nights, so every week I brave the tourists and/or football fans and meet my team for a trivia throwdown with 15 other teams or so. OK, we are one of the better teams, so it is two or three other teams we are playing really playing against most weeks, but it is still a pitched battle to secure one of the two prizes ($ 40 and $ 20 for first and second place). Siné has one of the better trivia hosts in the area, so that is a plus as well.
Unfortunately, after so many visits, I am really getting bored with their decent, but undistinguished food. The previously-frozen soft pretzels with runny beer cheese, watery hummus, and a gross barbeque chicken sandwich are to be avoided. But entrees of Fish & Chips, Beef Stew and Shepherd’s Pie are decent, at least. My favorite items are actually a lean and meaty hamburger, a light turkey burger and their Cuban Sandwich.
No, I probably wouldn’t come here just to eat. I might not even come here to drink unless I lived across the street. But for Sunday nights at least, it’s a good place to be to play some fun trivia.

The food is overpriced and extremely salty. The service was mediocre. You don’t have to be bubbly but at least don’t act miserable.
The Shepherd’s Pie was oily and extremely salty. The chunk of bread that came with it was dry and stale.
The cabbage on our second dish wasn’t even washed throughly.
I don’t recommend and would not visit again.

A friend and I ended up here on a Sunday morning, in need of some good hangover food. Apparently, this place doubles as a Minnesota Vikings fan club bar, there were a couple of folks in jerseys waiting in anticipation of the upcoming game.
We both ordered the shepherds pie. Didn’t take too long for it to come out… maybe 10 – 12 min. The pie was really good, and HOT. the mashed potatoes held the damn heat in so I couldn’t gobble it up as fast as I wanted to. Regardless, it had the mashes potatoes on top, ground beef, some vegetables that I can’t remember, and an excellent gravy. The gravy is really what gave the flavor to the pie. Spent about 13 bucks, so it wasn’t too bad on the price. I do wish the pie would have been a little bigger, but It was good as it was (im a fat kid, I can’t help it).
I would def go back to this place.

I lived in this area in spring 2014, and was at Siné twice for lunch with my fellow interns. I don’t know if it was because we were always a large group (north of eight people every time), or if this is just the way of the place, but service was terribly slow both times. Our waitresses would always mix up orders, and the food would just take forever to arrive.
I got the Guinness stew my first time in here, and I distinctly recall being disappointed by how thin it was. Having traveled in Ireland before, one of my favorite things about Irish food is how hearty it is – perfect to warm you up on a rainy day, which that day happened to be. My sad, poor stew was nowhere near up to that task.
The bright spot here is that they have a good selection of appetizers and beers on tap, as well as ciders.

The place was good, not great. Overall it’s what I would consider a typical Irish pub in the area, but what makes it unique is the deals, menu and service.
They have a great happy hour with all appetizers costing $ 5 and lots of great beers on tap and in bottles. The service is very attentive, bordering on too much, but you’ll certainly not want for anything.
Seemed to have a good bar scene, but the booths near the bar were particularly cozy and nice for a private conversation while still being in the action.

This place was a solid three stars.
The restaurant was very clean, much cleaner than some of the pub style places that I have been in, and was well lit. We came during lunch and I had the chopped club wrap, which was quite tasty. I had sweet potatoes on the side, which were crisp, but not overcooked. My meal was perfect – I may have gone for four stars based on this and the service.
My friend had a salmon BLT. She was excited for the spicy jalapeño remoulade, which was not as spicy as anticipated. The salmon was also a pale pink and lacked flavor, so it was probably farm-raised, which is okay, but something that folks might want to reconsider.
Overall, a decent lunch spot. As we left we were given cards for an outdoor summer concert series. Thursday nights, 7−9pm, 7÷16−8÷20. You can pay $ 10 and «taste local brews and sample some of Pentagon Row’s favorites with all VIP proceeds donated to SCAN — Stop Child Abuse Now of Northern VA.» Details:

This place definitely isn’t authentic Irish and it doesn’t really try to be. They have pretty good Irish classics but also have pasta, burgers, and other items so most anyone could find something here.
They have a decent selection of beers on tap, though the waiter took the drink menu before I had a chance to peruse so I had to snag it back. I had the Beef and Guinness stew and it wasn’t bad. It was basically beef stew with mashed potatoes on top, my first piece of beef was mostly gristle but it was all good after that. Nothing spectacular but a solid meal. Goes well with a Boddington’s. The fried pickles appetizer (okay probably not Irish) is worth a try as well, they are spears rather than chips and are sliced. They were very fresh and hot without being greasy.
This isn’t a place to trek across the DMV to check out but a solid option if you live nearby or find yourself at the mall.

Had dinner here and ordered the fried pickles and the cuban. Food is what you would typically expect from a sports bar. The only hiccup was the server ordered me a reuben versus cuban, which he worked quickly to resolve.
