SuperShuttle

We paid in advance for a reservation at 7:25 to get to DCA from Rockville, MD. The company called us at 7:35 to inform us that the shuttle would not actually be coming. We had to scramble to find another option since the metro was closed due to the snowstorm.
On the plus side, the company did refund our money within the week. We appreciated that.
Only one star because the company is not being judged on its ability to return payments made to it; rather, it’s being judged on whether or not it actually TAKES PEOPLE TO THE AIRPORT AFTER THEY PAY IT DO SO.
My advice: if at all possible, avoid all of these goofy shuttles and drive, take the metro, or get an über.

I used this service twice, but in two different cities.
Last Saturday at IAD the pickup took a little longer, but I understand that the driver was waiting for other passengers. What I was disappointed in, was the route that he decided to take. My husband and I live relatively close to the first drop off, but he went to DuPont circle instead, which was much further and we stayed on the van for 45 minutes extra, which after a 15 hrs flight isn’t the funniest thing ever. It was pouring outside and the driver drove carefully though, which I appreciated.

I used super shuttle on 12÷24÷15 & 1÷10÷16. First time the driver was early, he was very courteous and his driving was excellent. The second time it took a long time for a shuttle to arrive to Reagan airport. The driver was courteous, helpful and respectful. His driving was good. Cant complain. I also had to call twice to call customer service twice to re-​schedule and the representative was very helpful and didn’t gave me hard time. The whole process was very smooth.

My SuperShuttle experience today (Dec 31, 2015) from my home in South Riding, VA (just southwest of Dulles airport) to Reagan National airport, was outstanding. SuperShuttle provided a link to track the location of the van so I could wait inside until just before it arrived. The driver was extremely pleasant and he explained that he had one other rider to pick up, so I knew what to expect. He drove carefully. When I’d booked, I thought that an 18% gratuity would be more than generous enough but I changed my mind and added to that amount. I don’t know if I’ll ever need SuperShuttle’s services again but if I do I won’t hesitate to use them!

My driver’s tardiness when picking me up was as a result of an accident on the road. The accident was posted on television news. Not his fault.

I booked a reservation for an exclusive non-​stop van service. It was $ 129 and booked for 5:20PM. I was trying to get to BWI in a hurry, hence spending the extra cash on a non-​stop ride. At 6:20 I was inside a van owned by Premier because SuperShuttle still didn’t have a van for me. What does reservation mean to this company? What did we reserve? Their excuses were weak, and if I ever find myself in this area again, I’d rather walk.

You really need to hire drivers who don’t treat customers poorly. Where do you find these crazy people to drive for you?
Time to clean house re the drivers at Dulles.

The pickup at the airport took a little longer. I think the driver was waiting 4 more passengers — I was the only person. Otherwise I like the sms updates & even the map showing where the shuttle is.

On the busiest day of the year, Black Friday, I needed a ride to a major airport. Super shuttle showee up 10 minutes before the scheduled time range, and the driver Matt called me to inform me that my transpotation would actually a car due to the busy ness of the day. Great service with a smile!

I had a great experience with super shuttle. I scheduled a pickup for my husband and I from our residence to DCA. The driver came right on time (beginning of the window) and was helpful. I think it helps that only 7 people rode instead of the allotted. I saw complaints about the number of people in other reviews but it says 10 people max, maybe everyone doesn’t read. People also don’t seem to consider traffic fluctuations. We were picked up at 4AM so obviously there was no traffic. All In all I would book super shuttle again to be picked up. Taking super shuttle home from the airport… TBD

I booked a pickup for 12 PM but the driver was there at 11:30AM already. He told me that he had informed me by SMS but i didn’t get one. However the service is ok and it’s a comfortable way to get to Dulles Airport.

We scheduled for pickup from Dupont circle to Dulles at 3pm. We finally got picked up at 3:35pm. Even accounting for the 15 minute pickup window, that was very late and added unneeded stress to our trip.
I would recommend against SuperShuttle. Although they can save you cash, is not worth the hassle of risking being late.

I took super shuttle from Reagan international airport in DC this week. I cancelled my return trip to the airport and am happy to be paying twice as much for private sedan.
My dissatisfaction in short: Rude, unhelpful, and disinterested drivers. Uncomfortable, dirty, smelly vans. Unsafe drivers.
The drivers at the curb weren’t helpful when I hadn’t yet received a text with my van assignment. When I found my van I couldn’t buckle the seat and the driver took off without ensuring we were all set or asking if we were comfortable. I was ignored when I tried to inform the driver that I could not buckle my belt. I was never asked for my name or reservation until we were out of the airport an hour later. If they had picked up the incorrect reservation I or someone else could have been sitting at the shuttle stop being ignored by other drivers who only answer your questions by telling you, «This isn’t your bus!»
The van was full of garbage from fast food joints and various personal items of the drivers. It smelt awful and was without sufficient air conditioning.
It took us over an hour to get out of the airport because we picked up so many people. We were so squished together which was worsened by the hot humid weather and a whole lot of carry ons that didn’t fit in the back. My knees were completely squished/​jammed into the driver’s seat such that my feet were actually under his seat! I have arthritis so this was a particularly painful position but there didn’t appear to be a an easy solution as it would have entailed making another rider give up their minimally more comfortable seat to squeeze into mine AND about five people and all their stuff would have to have gotten out of the van to make this switch. I just hoped it wouldn’t take too long to get to my hotel.
Well it did take a long time! My twenty minute drive took an hour. I admit that I knew it might take longer as its a shared van, but I didn’t anticipate a nearly two hour drive with all the pick ups at the airport. Two hours mind you, in a hot smelly messy van squished into the person next to you and the seat back in front of you as you make a bunch of stops to drop others off.
Last but not least was the dangerous driving. Our driver ran two lights and failed to stop completely at stop signs. He drove too fast and hit the breaks too hard.
So I’m happy to pay 35.00 for a clean exclusive direct ride with an attentive driver instead of 18.00 in a dirty shared van with an extra hour or two en route. I found a great driver during my stay and cancelled my return ride with Super Shuttle. It’s a beautiful big black SUV with proper air conditioning and comfortable leather seats. The driver had cold water bottles waiting for me and was pleasant and professional. Completely worth the extra $ 17.
I liked a few things including that they send you a lot of info about how to find your shuttle stop including a little diagram. That was really helpful. There was a gal that helped a woman from the Southwest terminal with ten pieces of luggage and baby things. This employee was friendly and working hard to help.

Had a great super shuttle experience my last time around. I took a red eye flight from San Francisco to Dulles and I hardly slept. I didn’t want to pay the full taxi fare and i decided to go with SuperShuttle. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I was put in the van with people going to my direction, the Capitol Hill area. I was the third and last group dropped off, and my ride from Dulles was less than an hour. All things considering that was incredible time and the service is great for the price ($ 29). A regular taxi fares between $ 75 to $ 90.
Lastly, the driver (I forgot his name but the vehicle number on ⁷⁄₂₆ was 994) was amazing. Great guy, easy to talk to and incredible.

The only reason to use SuperShuttle is if you do not have a smartphone and therefore cannot Über.
It will only cost $ 5 – 10 more unless you hit peak demand times, and you will not have to wait for them, whether leaving from the airport or getting a pickup. If you’re getting a pickup, Über will actually show up near its ETA, rather than SuperShuttle, which seems to miss its pickup window more often than not (I’ve been concerned for making my flight before after arranging a WAY early pickup window). Once, SuperShuttle up and cancelled on me in the wee hours of the morning and told me to call a cab. They reimbursed me for the cab but it was a mess to deal with because I had put the initial charge on my corporate card.
Also, you will not have to wait through everyone else getting picked up and dropped off. Straight to or from the airport!
Tip: If you’re taking Über home from Dulles go to the departures level. Due to the monopoly of the other ground transportation carriers they are not allowed to pick up at arrivals.

Worst service ever!!! Do NOT use them unless you want to flush time, money and your sanity down the toilet.
We made a reservation 9 days in advance. We arrived at Dulles at 12:28 am with our 4 kids under the age of 10 expecting to have a shuttle waiting because we had reserved and told them our timing 9 days ahead of time!!! The guy at the counter was actually calling drivers and getting them out of bed… with no luck!!! No drivers, no vans… how do you operate a business like this?!?
I called corporate… no apologies from the reps there and my calls were repeatedly dropped. Seriously!!! No apologies!!! This is nuts. So we went to their next door neighbor, supreme shuttle– who had drivers and 5 vans waiting. Then the super shuttle rep had the gall to get mad at supreme for stealing his business. Ridiculous.

I find Super Shuttle a quaint artifact in the era of Über and Lyft. It comes at arbitrary times (mine arrived 15 minute BEFORE the beginning of the confirmed 15 minute slot — but hey, at least the driver had the courtesy to call me at 1am to confirm) yet does not provide a meaningful savings ($ 29 per passenger to airport vs $ 34 – 39 for Über; if you have a party of two or more, Über is a no-​brainer).
At least, SuperShuttle’s policy is liberal enough that the lady sitting next to me had a cat sitting in her lap. There are worse ways to start your day than hearing car sick feline growling.

The service is convenient, but I may start using Über moving forward because the last two times we used Super Shuttle, the van arrived 25 – 35 minute in advance. I understand that you’re given a 15 minute window and we’re always ready that far in advance, but it’s pretty annoying when you think you have at least another 10 minutes and the driver calls asking where you are.
In my experience, the drivers are usually pretty nice and recently one of the drivers apologized for showing up so far in advanceI after realizing that our pick-​up was scheduled for a later time.
If Super Shuttle can’t adjust the way they schedule their pick-​ups, they need to start notifiying their customers that their driver is en route. I used Super Shuttle for years in SF and I always received an automated call when the driver was approximately 5 minutes away.

Two stars because we got there — eventually. Seriously you’re better off paying for a cab or walking.
We waited 40 mins then finally got loaded onto a van where the driver used both a gps and Google maps in the hope that he’d find his way to our hotel.
They are fairly disorganised to say the least.
