The food was decent, but definitely understaffed and the restaurant itself was relatively clean and nice, but wasn’t good enough to keep me from coming back. We were probably 1 of maybe 10 families there that night and it wasn’t a busy night whatsoever. We were a party of 20BUT in our defense this is not just a «normal» sized restaurant, but more of a banquet sized one. Which means you should be used to a particularly large party OR should be equipped to handle a busy night. BUT it wasn’t busy and we weren’t even demanding as a group. The whole night when we were dining here they didn’t even bother to refill any of our waters, didn’t clear the table when new entrees/dishes were presented… even though they were right there AND it was clearly visible. The only time they would remove a dish or refill is when we had to specifically asked… AND even then they would«forget» and never refill. We asked for new bowls probably more than 3 times and they«forgot» each time. And there was maybe 3 servers the whole night manning what seemed to have been a 5 – 8 server night. But whether or not they were understaffed they didn’t bother to check up on many of their customers, we heard the same thing happening at other tables which was really disappointing to hear. You could clearly see the 3 servers standing aloof talking to one another while customers are looking visibly annoyed. Knowing this I would never arrange a large event here… EVER. The hot pot we ordered they gave us extremely large serving spoons, which was annoying because the circumference of the pot was probably 2 inches while the spoon was meant for 3 inches or larger. The entire night we asked for a new serving spoon and did we even get it? Nope… not ever. We ended up using our own spoon to scoop out the soup… Overall, I didn’t enjoy the service so much. The food was good itself, although nothing too special compared to the multitude of Vietnamese restaurant in the area. I wouldn’t bother coming here with a large group even though it was made for large parties.

Don’t be surprised by the corner grocery — store like fascade! The doors open to a snazzy hotel style lobby complete with water fountain and shiny tile floors. My roommate and I had no idea what to expect, especially after all the contrasts we’d just experienced. We showed up around 7pm to a pretty empty restaurant — guessing that we were shy of standard Vietnamese family eating time. Families started trickling in a bit later. The inside is gorgeous! Definitely nice banquet– style ambience complete with a separate-retractable-screened off space, most probably used for weddings. TVs flanked the walls. The dining experience was pretty ordinary surprisingly. Curve ball, after curve ball, I know haha. The waiter’s English was pretty weak, but again no problem. He was a nice gentleman. With no idea what to order, I flipped to the shrimp entrees page and asked the waiter what his favorite was… he suggested lobster with a sheepish smile. I decided to be smart and save my pennies and go with something cheaper. I wanted to try the bean-curd wrapped shrimp but was told«they don’t have it.» The waiter suggested shrimp with mixed veggies. The portions were amazing, EASILY divisible for 2+ people for $ 13. BUT, it was a little bland for my palate :(The sauce was pretty standard stir-fry type soy sauce with corn starch. Nothing extraordinary or strong. The crunchy, freshness of the veggies did help make the dish enjoyable. The shrimp oddly enough did not have a fresh crunch. It was a bit rubbery and«muddy» smelling but large in size. My roommate ordered the much-raved-about(via Unilocal) Bo luc lac(shaken beef). Not very many people actually described the taste of the dish but just described it as «good». The beef chunks were perfectly chewy and browned. It had a very strong peanut flavor, so if you have any nut allergies, probably not a good idea. Again, I was hoping for something with a bit more umami. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and definitely wouldn’t mind coming back for another try!

We got a wedding reception here recently and it was exactly what Sammy H mentioned and worst, completely unacceptable. Understaffed led to bad services as result. Dishes were horrible and unbelievable overpriced with small portion. They promised for the compliment beer and soda but you will learn an embarrassing lesson about it. They barely brought them to guests unless being asked, which not many people aware of. After all, people will assume and blame on you for a bad reception, which was spent a lot of money and was supposed to be fun. Think it twice and seeking to other experience with those kind of people before making your decision. Seriously.

This place was just okay. Coming from NYC where there’s not a lot of good viet food, I really craved for bo la lot and ended up here to attempt to fulfill the craving. Bo la lot $ 12 for 12 pieces is a pretty good deal, but the meat was too sweet for some reason. They give you the rice wraps and veggies to wrap it and dip in stinky fish sauce(mam nem) if you like. I advise going here for other dishes like bo luc lac instead.

Came here with my wife for lunch. We got the shaking beef and calamari… Both were very scrumptious and we ate all of it. Servers were great and ambience was peaceful. I’m surprised this place is only rated 3 ½ stars… we’ve come here several times in the past and return about every month or so.

The bun cha Ha Noi didn’t exactly use the right noodle, but it was ok for lunch. We were just stopping by on our tour in Dallas, and the place didn’t look too crowded, which was a plus for us. Probably will check out another Viet place next time we’re in Dallas.

This was my first time here and I went two times in one day for lunch and dinner. Customer service was good. I had the pork chop plate which came with fried rice for lunch. The pork chop was really good and moist. Usually I eat it at phở 95 cause of the flavor, but here, it was so moist that I ordered it for dinner too but it came with only white rice. Also tried the bun no hue. It was okay. I’ve had better which was homemade but this place it was decent. It just didn’t have the pig feet and blood in it. Wish it did! It has a kicked flavor which made it taste better. The prawns in cheese sauce was not good. It was made from real shredded cheese. He told me it was a dry ingredient but I thought a powder mixture with something to make or dried cheese. I’ve had better at many other restaurants. I wouldn’t recommend ordering this. It wasn’t worth it. I’ll be going back to rose different plates.

I went to this place because it was my first choice for a wedding. Only because my family wanted an Asian wedding and I knew this was a popular place. I set up an appointment and came ready to book a date and tables. However when I came there I waited 30 minutes to have someone to talk to after I made it clear that I made an appointment for a wedding. The owners finally came over and said Judy is not here… WOW really maybe you can tell me the moment I came. These people are snobby and arrogant and I mean they fit the true definition. Her mom then took over the appointment. After I told her it would be a small intimate wedding of about 140 – 150 guest. She basically thought I was a joke and said that its a small wedding so you would have the small room. The room they wanted to give us was a joke! It was cramp and dance floor could fit about 5 people. Basically you can use that room as storage. I told her I wanted a bigger room and she said well you need a bigger party your wedding is too small. Basically they rather have a bigger wedding in replace of mine so they can make more money. I dont understand how people would want to do business with these people. I heard many stories from friends how their wedding turned out and its not good. Tables were missing food at weddings, portions are small and arrogant owners. I simply left and booked my wedding at A1 buffet and it was the best people to work with. All my guest told me during and after the wedding how they loved the food and it was delicious much better then Thanh Thanh. This means a lot because Vietnamese people judge your wedding base on the food. Also they only take in one wedding not like Thanh Thanh where they can have 3 weddings at once. A1 space is huge and you can do amazing things with decorating your wedding. You have one special night and you don’t want to deal with these people. Most importantly the owners/management at A1 treat you with respect and caters to you.

SERVICE * Understaffed [1] * Super slow service for large parties * Not the most attentive [2] FOOD(overall) * Decent menu options * Slightly overpriced for the quantity of actual food * Good, but relatively standard; nothing too standout FOOD(experience) * Ta Pin Lu Nuong Vi [3] * Lau Canh Chua Ca Tom [4] * Ca Xau Xao Lan [5] * Banh Hoi [6] ENVIRONMENT * Convenient location * Clean * Interior is nicely decorated OVERALL Nice place for a casual family meal, but does not nearly meet the level of quality that you would expect when walking in because of all the lavishing decorations ha. Food was standard and nothing to stand out from what I’ve had at other Vietnamese restaurants so, a 3 would suffice. — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - — - [1] For a relatively large-spaced restaurant there was only 2 – 3 workers scrambling on the floor [2] Didn’t bother to refresh our bowls after eating the Nuong Vi dishes for the next part of our meal; had to personally go up to them to remind them to get us new bowls after taking away half the table’s dirty bowls and never returning with more [3] Good good; great option if you’re with a nice group of friends and looking to chat over some good food [4] Omitting the center hole, the pot has an approximate 2-inch radius for a large pot; the spoon they give to scoop is way too large for the pot(lol, oh the struggles to get the actual food); not very much substance; 2 – 3 pieces of mussels, crabs, etc. only [5] More onions were served in this dish than crocodile; might as well have renamed it; then again no one would probably order this; good, but not worth [6] I’m a sucker for Vietnamese Banh Hoi! Decent amount of scallions and roasted peanut toppings

I come here pretty often with my family and it’s been about a four star rating on average. Today’s experience definitely knocked it down to two, but I’ll put three for past decent experiences. We ordered the soup, some bun entrees, and one banh hoi entrée. The soup was sour from not being put in the fridge fast enough the night before(according to our server) and there were dead flies in the lettuce accompanying our banh hoi entrée. Our server made lame excuses and had a very sarcastic personality that just came off to be plain rude. He did, however, not charge us for soup, so there’s at least that.

I went to Thanh Thanh recently for a wedding. The last time I came to Thanh Thanh must have been at least 5 years ago. I don’t remember the food being horrible or if my taste buds have changed over the years, but the food at the wedding was less than average. If you are Vietnamese or have been to a Vietnamese wedding, you should very well know that most people have very high expectations for the food. Thanh Thanh was certainly a let down. Everything that came out was either lacking in flavor, too greasy or the portion size was small. A majority of our table was still hungry after dinner was over. There was a lobster dish that came out and you could tell that the lobster was frozen(for who knows how long) because it was difficult to eat and rather chewy. They also forgot to bring the sea bass dish to our table so we didn’t get to try that. The fried rice was decent, but how can anyone mess up fried rice?! I may have to attend another wedding at Thanh Thanh later this year and not looking forward to it…

I was recently in Arlington and craving for some bo luc lac! We came for late lunch and most of the wait staff was eating lunch at this time so we didn’t get attended to for a while but once we ordered, they cooked it very fast. The meat was tender and flavorful. The portion size was good for sharing too! I’m sure people probably share it with a few people but my husband and I were very hungry so we ate it all! I saw a few tables had the bo 7 mon, I’ll probably be trying this out the next time I visit! It seems this place is used for weddings as well, it is spacious and can be decorated to look like such a pretty wedding venue.

I had the bo 7 mon and the lemongrass squid and shrimp with my parents. The dishes were excellent and the«bo la lot» and beef salad were my favorite dishes. The portions were right and there were plenty of side vegetables and herbs to go along with the main courses. The porridge wasn’t too good – it was served cold and there was barely any beef in it. The squid and shrimp were excellent, as usual. Food was served quickly and everything was fresh. The environment was pretty nice, there was a Vietnamese wedding next door so we could hear loud music in the background, but other than that, the decorations were well presented and I would come here again. Plus, the bathrooms are very clean so that’s a plus. So I give this restaurant 4 stars.

Large Vietnamese restaurant. Décor is fancier than your typical Vietnamese joint, it looks like it was purposefully built to be a place for weddings. There are white linens on tables, there’s a dance floor, and a bar. Came for dinner and ordered the Shaking Beef, Bo Luc Lac. It’s amazing here, so tender and flavorful. Portion size is large. BF ordered a typical rice plate which he said was average. For such a nice place with the higher prices to match, service is lacking. I want to come back and try their Bo 7 Mon, seven course beef.

Oh, Thanh Thanh, how you have changed. I visit about once a year. It’d been a while since I returned and I have my favorites from the Bo 7 Mon dishes(you can order servings of your preferred dishes, or do the whole 7 dish spread). My favorites are bo la lot(beef mixture wrapped in a Hawaiian leaf), bo cha dum(beef patty with mushrooms and peas, with rice crackers), and chao bo(beef & rice porridge). On my recent visit, I ordered these dishes and the food quality and taste is just not there anymore. The leaf in the bo la lot was too burnt, which made it bitter and unappetizing with the burnt, black specks. The seasoning in the bo cha dum has definitely changed, and the patties are smaller. The chao was lukewarm, and seemed like a left-over. Based on this experience, I don’t foresee returning. Being that it’s a longer drive for me, I expect the food to be stellar. Thanh Thanh used to be the best at what it did, but the food quality has gone down and it is not worth the drive or price anymore. I’ll much prefer visiting a few places in the Garland area that offer better Vietnamese options.

I ve been to this restaurant so many time, one of the biggest Vietnamese restaurants in Texas. Some busy weekends, they handle 3 – 4 wedding at the same time. plenty of Chinese-vietnamese food to choose but a little bit over-priced. I would just recommend this place to big group/event.

Here for family Easter dinner. My brother always orders the bo luc lac(shaken beef) and fried soft-shelled crab, which both make your tastebuds dance with flavor. The shaken beef is very tender and flavored very well. My boyfriend describes it as «tasty» :). Mom ordered the bo tom muc nuong vi(translation = beef, shrimp, squid — self cook on table top pan). We all get to cook our own protein on the cook top then wrap with in rice paper with vermicelli noodles and various vegetables, which allows flexibility for the picky eaters. Afterwards for dessert we headed across the hallway for froyo. A word of caution though — service is a little rough and the waiter required some prompting for items we’d ordered.

WEDDINGREVIEW– 2.5 stars Came here for my beautiful friend’s wedding reception. I was actually very impressed with the setup for the reception. The walls were completely draped with white curtains and had changing colored lights on the ground. The servers were very attentive and quickly switched out full/dirty plates. I was disappointed in the quality of food. I know weddings have a reputation of having poor quality food, but that’s why people choose their reception at the restaurant so there is no excuse. One of the entrees were fried shrimp balls and there wasnt even enough for the table. The peking duck was not very crispy and the meat was dry. As for the lobster noodles, they were very generous with the noodles. not so much on the lobster. My friend paid and booked the restaurant until midnight. However, around 10:30 restuarant workers were already tearing down the curtains. By 11:30, table tops were cleared and completely emptied. We felt rushed to leave. My friend was not even able to have her last dance with her new husband. I was also told that the menu was set and prices were confirmed a few months prior to the wedding, however the owner requested that more money needed to paid closer to the wedding date due to change in food prices.
