The Maxwell

First and foremost, the staff is fantastic here. Very helpful and very nice. They (Ms. Jamie and Ms. Allison) are the only reason this place gets 3 stars. Really the staff here deserves 6 stars but the overall score is a reflection of the building (construction).
But the building is an absolute piece of sh*t. Its all wood frame so unless you have a loft on the first floor (cement ceiling), expect to feel like you live under a bowling alley. You hear everything. When walking down the hallway you can literally hear the people above you in the same hallway walking too. When I use the bathroom, I can hear my neighbors talking, not yelling, but talking. They went as cheap as possible on the insulation and it’s reflected in the fact that my upstairs neighbors can’t go to the fridge without it being like the T-​Rex scene in Jurassic Park. I talk to various neighbors in the elevators all the time, same problems for them too. Not exactly what you expect from a place that’s $ 2800+ a month. So long story short, get a loft on the first floor or get an apt on the 6^th floor. Otherwise, get your earplugs ready. The parking garage sucks too.

I guess I shouldn’t be selfish and keep the Maxwell all to myself!
I recently moved here and love everything. The best thing I like is the modern style and how new it is.
I also like saving money and noticed a dramatic difference in my electric bill compared to my last place! Whoohoo! They have NEST and energy saving appliances that are saving me at least $ 100 bucks a month.
Staff and maintenance are really friendly and there’s free coffee all day everyday!

I’ve lived here since April, and I absolutely love it. From the upscale, modern apartments to the amazing staff who manages them — it truly doesn’t get better. The building is clean, safe and conveniently located near Ballston Metro.
I can’t stress enough how friendly and amazing the staff is! Jaimee, Kara, and Alison are very customer service oriented, extremely PROFESSIONAL, and willing to provide assistance when needed. The maintenance crew is fantastic and prompt! Xavier and Adnan ALWAYS go above and beyond for their residents.
Without any doubts, The Maxwell is one of the best places I’ve ever lived, and I will miss it very much when I leave.

No navigation to assist with parking to view the units. Cross roads are permit only. Had to park in Ballston parking deck and walk across. was referred to this housing facility from one of their sister resorts as a pet friendly option. They discriminate against breeds of dogs regardless of their training and behaviors. Would not even consider my dog based on his breed.

I have been using Unilocal!a long time. I don’t write many reviews unless a place truly deserves it. The Maxwell truly deserves it.
I have been a resident of The Maxwell for about 3 months now and I absolutely love it. The building is extremely new. It opened in January of 2015.
First off, the 3 ladies who work in management (Jaimee, Alison and Kara) are incredible. They are so friendly, funny and extremely helpful. They always say hi and always answer your questions. I always enjoy having conversations with them. They also help get all of the residents engaged. They set up resident events like free food and drinks at a restaurant nearby or they have free food and drinks at the apartment complex. They aren’t afraid to interact with you. They want to make sure you really love your apartment and have no problems.
The maintenance men (Xavier and Adnan) are the same as the management staff. They are so friendly, funny and helpful. When you have something that needs fixing (or just an issue with something) they fix it right away. They are always saying hi and asking how you are doing. I always enjoy having conversations with them.
The management and maintenance staff definitely make my stay more enjoyable.
The apartment itself is absolutely beautiful. The building is brand new. Each unit has quartz counter tops, beautiful dark cabinets, stainless steel Energy Star appliances and nest system thermostats. You get your own front loading washer and dryer, which are incredibly quiet. The entire place is LEED Gold Certified!!! Not only that, but you barely ever hear your neighbors. I have only heard my neighbors when they were moving in. The gym has everything you would need for a great workout. A beautiful kitchen and gym were a must for me and I couldn’t be happier with this gym and my beautiful kitchen. There is a patio with a sink, grill, tons of counter space, bar-​like kitchen island with bar stools and plenty of places to sit. There is also a fire place outside. There is a lounge with beautiful furniture, big TV, a pool table and plenty of comfy places to sit. It is just an amazingly beautiful building.
One of the best things about this place is the location. It is less than half a block from Harris Teeter and it is open ²⁴⁄₇! Not only that, but there are tons of restaurants nearby. It is also across from the Ballston Mall. Also, it is only 1 – 2 blocks away from the metro (about a 5 minute walk).
If you are looking to move to Arlington I would highly recommend checking out The Maxwell.
