TSA PreCheck Enrollment Center

Excellent experience. We decided to enroll so we completed the pre-​enrollment application online and then tried to schedule an appointment. All the appointments are more than 45 days out at each center within 70 miles of us!!! So we took a chance to walk in because the Unilocal reviews showed a wonderful experience at DCA. We arrived a half hour after opening (730am) on a Wednesday. We were there till 840 or so. It was fairly busy but the experience was very reasonable. Parking costs $ 12 for that one hour but it was still worth it. There are chairs there for you to sit and wait but only about 7 – 8 chairs. If someone has an appointment, they will prioritize them before any walk-​in which is fair because they only take them at their designated appointment and not any earlier. Once they call your name, the process doesn’t take more than 5 – 10 min. They verify your information and they scan your fingerprints. It’s super quick. I received approval with my status less than two days later. Woohoo!!!
If you want TSA precheck for both global and domestic, do not sign up for this. You will need to sign up for global entry program which is $ 100 and gets you both domestic and global TSA precheck status. If you do the domestic one first, you just lost $ 85 because they won’t refund it. You should sign up thru the US border protection website.
If you’re never planning on traveling global or aren’t interested in it, then definitely sign up for this for most domestic flights. I’m so excited to use it !!

Holy smokes this was easy. They’re down near baggage claim on the ground floor. I pre registered online, didn’t have an appointment and walked in, and the place was empty at 930 on a Thursday and I was in and out within 15 minutes. Everyone was polite and efficient and I was happily out the door. Now I just await my known traveler number.

When I pre-​registered, it was hard to get an appointment. My appointment was at 2:15 and I was in at 2:09 and was out by 2:13. I received my TSA pre-​check number the NEXT DAY. I can’t believe how efficient this whole process was. It took me longer to park. Everybody was professional.

TSA gets a bad rep so I felt obliged to give them a shout out.
I got dropped off at the terminal, I was in and out of the enrollment center in six minutes. I received my traveler number a week later. Apologies for being so concise but that’s about it. There’s an $ 85 fee but your PreCheck lasts for multiple years.
Government meets efficiency, I was shocked.

After my last trip to the airport and after waiting forever in line at security at BWI, while the TSA PreCheck line was empty, I decided, I’d pay to enroll in the TSA PreCheck program. This meant that I needed to go in person to an enrollment center. Luckily, an enrollment center recently opened at Reagan and this particular center is pre-​security so I wouldn’t need a boarding pass in order to go. I filled out the pre-​enrollment questionnaire out online for the PreCheck program and then tried to book an appointment. All of the appointments for the next 45 days were already booked, so I decided I would try my luck as a walk-​in. This enrollment center is open Monday — Friday 9 AM — 5 PM, which may be a little difficult for the 9 – 5 work crowd, but there is also another pre-​enrollment center located in Alexandria that’s open 8 – 6. I took the Metro to Reagan and then headed to the baggage claim area as this particular enrollment center is between baggage claim areas 6 and 7, across from the Information Center. There’s a small waiting area with a couple of chairs, but I was able to walk right in. To the left there’s an interview room that has a chair and a computer screen facing the individual who is being interviewed. I had to look on the screen to verify that the information I filled out during the pre-​enrollment questionnaire was correct. They then digitally captured my fingerprints, I paid the fee via credit card, which they accepted, and I was on my way. For walking in, I was done in less than 15 minutes, which was great, considering I figured I would have to wait at least an hour given that I didn’t have an appointment. I went on a Friday morning around 9:15, thinking it’d be less busy and it was perfect. I highly recommend filling out the questionnaire online in advance so that you can just verify your answers when you go to the enrollment center, rather than have to answer them there. Overall, it was a much quicker and smoother process than I had originally expected.
Update: I received my Known Traveler Number in less than a week!
