Excellent office visit (or so we thought) — Absolutely horrible followup, post treatment. Multiple calls and requests went unanswered for weeks.
no internalist currently on staff (punted us off to somewhere else)
bottom line $ 2,000 later we are no closer to finding out whats wrong with our dog.
Don’t spend your money here, go somewhere else.

Many, many thanks to Dr. Bowens for bringing this super facility to Arlington. Spritzer, my cat became a household name at VREHA while he was being treated for epileptic seizures and a urinary problem. The outcome was a success and I’m very much appreciative to all the great doctors and staff who helped in his recovery including Dr. Bowens, Dr. Cummings, Dr. Patino, Francisco, Steven, Saul and I’m sure there are others. A great place and I’m glad I found it.

Our 13 year old «baby», Daisy, came running one Sunday afternoon like she was scared to death. She then started shaking and fell on the floor, her legs jerking and foam coming from her mouth. We thought she was dying on us due to being bitten by something like a snake or maybe ate a poisonous frog or lizard. She got very still and then started to revive. We rushed her to a local pet ER and they did pretty much nothing except say that she was old and we should expect this. After researching what might have caused this event we came across dog epilepsy and that there are neurological vets. That’s how we found Dr. Bowens and VREHA. They welcomed us with smiles and compassion and no one, not the assistants nor Dr. Bowens himself ever called Daisy «dog» or «pet». She was always «the patient» or «your baby». They did a complete checkup and ran various tests. Dr. Bowens spent a lot of time drawing a picture of the brain on a whiteboard and explaining in detail all the possibilities of Daisy’s problem with the accompanying treatment. After the tests it was determined Daisy has late onset of epilepsy (usually shows up in the 1^st 4 years) and the proper medicine was prescribed. Throughout the entire process we never felt we were being rushed nor pressured to have the test performed. Dr. Bowens put us — and Daisy — at ease and his assistants were tremendous. They had to keep Daisy a few days for observation but once she came home, we were called more than once just so they could check up on Daisy to see how she was doing. WONDERFUL after care — better than most human doctors do.
Thank you Dr. Bowens, Francisco and all the rest of the wonderful folks that took care of Daisy for us.

My experience here was nothing but amazing. The staff here was incredibly helpful and informative. The doctor thoroughly assessed and explained to us Helio’s diagnosis. More importantly, they kept us up to date the whole 2 hour stay we were there. I’m so grateful for their reassurance. They even led us to the back where Helio was sedated and showed us the main problem causing Helio’s pain and what they will do to relieve it. They also call you after your visit to check up on the progress!
The service here is very professional. Staff is so welcoming and friendly. I HIGHLY recommend this place, thank you Dr. Bowens and the staff!

Two weeks ago today we were terrified as my service dog, Tanner, who is trained for mobility assist for multiple sclerosis, became completely paralyzed in his hind legs due to a stroke in his spinal column. Dr. Bowens put in a long day (calling us at midnight after taking Tanner for his MRI) & correctly diagnosed and treated him using state of the art therapy over the next two weeks. We were reassured in our fear and worry and knew Tanner was receiving the best of care.
He is now up and walking and will see his many prayer warriors at church today. His recovery has been miraculous to watch, and we are soooo grateful for Dr. Bowens, Steven, Francisco, and all the caring staff at VREHA!
I’ve been telling all my friends about this healing place and hope every vet in the Metroplex knows about these specialists. Our family will be forever grateful and we are certain Tanner, the traveling service dog, will return to his full service dog duties. He’s heading to Houston for an adoption conference next weekend on light duty and loyally by my side where he belongs,

Dr. Bowen & his staff have been treating our little dog Dempsey for 6 weeks.
They have gone above and beyond any group of professionals I have ever dealt with when it comes to pet care. The mere fact she is still with us and again walking is a true testament of their dedication to animals. The entire staff is fantastic with Dempsey and with us.
We can not possible thank them enough for there help in getting our little one back to health.

We were referred to Dr. Bowens at VREHA by our regular Veterinarian due to the possible existence of Neurological disorders in our Great Dane, Apollo. Dr. Bowens, we were told, is one of the top Neurological Vet Specialists in this part of the the country. After the MRI results confirmed what Dr. Bowens had told us upon his initial examination, I now believe he knows what he is doing and feel confident in the courses of treatment he has chosen for our family member. Bulged Discs, Wobbler Syndrome and Arthritic disorders are very complicated to deal with in a large breed animal and we were frightened of potential surgery and related expenses. He treats us with respect and spends the time and energy necessary to answer all of our questions and assure us Apollo will have the best treatment known to modern medicine. Also, his assistant Francisco was very professional and helpful. We were one of the first patients seen at the brand new modern facility they have just opened in Arlington, just south of I-​20 off of Collins and we truly appreciate the care Apollo is receiving and am hopeful he can live out the rest of his life happy and pain free.
