I don’t do a lot of reviews but I’ll make an exception for this. Why do I like this restaurant so much? 1. They serve ORGANIC spinach salad as a side item. Nobody else does that in any BBQ restaurant in St. Louis. 2. They serve smoked turkey Thanksgiving dinner with home made stuffing every week. Where else can you find this around town? 3. Smoked Corned Beef and Cabbage is a special every Tuesday. I don’t see Irish BBQ on anyone else’s menu. 4. The big fat cap is trimmed off the beef brisket right in front of you BEFORE your meat serving is weighed. Wow! What a value. NOBODY else does that in St. Louis! This is NOT typical! Whoever says their brisket was very fatty never ate at Smokee Mo’s. 5. Home made Italian smoked sausage AND Smoked Meatballs are on the menu at Smokee Mo’s. Are there any other BBQ restaurants around town doing smoked Italian specialities? This is average? I don’t think so. 6. Green Bean Casserole made from scratch, not soup from a can, is a rotating side. Who else offers it at all, much less made from scratch? 7. Desserts at Smokee Mo’s? Three words. Blue Owl Bakery! Find another restaurant that serve the undisputed BEST cakes and pies in the whole St. Louis area. How can anyone who eats at BBQ restaurants in St. Louis call this typical? 8. Rather than plain white bread, or no bread at all, they serve real Italian Garlic Cheese Bread with all their plates. What other BBQ restaurant does that? I LOVE the ethnic variety of their menu woven with the common«smoked» theme you would expect in a BBQ restaurant. I also like that everything is made fresh as needed. It’s deliciously fun, creative, and different right down to The 3 Stooges shows playing on the big screen all day. Try the Mangia Bene sandwich if you go. It’s a half pound of brisket on Italian garlic cheese bread with a creamy white BBQ sauce. It is big and it is delicious!

In town for work and came upon this gem. As soon as I hit the door I was greeted nicely by two employees one of which gave me a free sample since it was my first time there. I purchased the pulled pork and two sides(Mac and cheese and beans). The food was great, service was quick and I was asked by more then two employees if the food we was good and if I needed anything else. It was nice to sit down and have hot meal and to be treated well while being away from home. Also the for what you get the price was spot on.

I recently wrote a review, and its now gone– so I am putting it back up. I recently got a chance to enjoy the food Of Smokee Mo’s– I had a variety of meats– The smoked ribs, literally feel off the bone, the ribs had flavor, spice and just plain damn great!, I got to try the brisket. I have not had brisket, like this since, stopping in a road house in Texas and until the time I had Smokee Mos, it was the best, not I know I can go to Arnold and get some brisket that is better!- I had a sample of the pulled pork, the smoked chicken and their sides! Those choices were unbelievable– flavor tenderness and just great. now lets talk about the sides– the smoke potato salad– had me set back by the name? however once I tried it, I was amazed how great it is. The coleslaw– I was told this is an Imo family recipe– it is great, It reminds me of my Aunt Margaret’s, who until this day, I thought made the best– smoke Mo’s has hers beat now for the crème de la crème– the smoke beans– I was chowing down on the pork and beans and my wife said Hey you don’t eat pork and beans– I said I have never tasted any like this!, she took a bite and and then we fought over the last portions of the beans– great stuff lets talk about portions– I have a very hard time, believing anybody will leave Smokee Mo’s hungry– you get your money’s worth– I wish I would have had room for more garlic bread and the deserts– I just could not hold anymore Smokee mo’s is definitely worth a drive and you get your moneys worth at Smokee Mo’s

Definitely deserves 5 stars in my book. First off the theme of the restaurant with the Three Stooges had me sold. Then I tried the food and wow… blown away. The meat had enough flavor by itself, whether it be beef or poultry. The sides were yummy, and the bbq sauces were out of this world. I will definitely be back.

Went back and had the Mangia Bene, folks this is one killer sandwich! Juicy, tasty, nice smokey flavor, excellent sauce(Mo’s) on cheesy garlic bread. Had the side spinach salad with the vinergarette(sp?) so good, mushrooms and pieces of bacon on salad. What a meal, you. gotta try this sandwich. I brought half of it home for dinner tonight! Yum!!!

Another great BBQ place! I had the Mangia Bene. Brisket sandwich on their homemade cheesy garlic bread. Great sandwich but it could be a little cheesier. The brisket was nice and tender and I came with their white sauce on it but, I added the Hot which has habanero. It really wasn’t that hot. The BBQ is awesome but the sides(I had potato salad) were a little plain. It’s a really good joint and I will be back!

I will begin with the PROs: Tasty sides — most of the side dishes are made fresh right there and are flavorful: great potato salad, baked beans, yummy slaw etc. Meats — good tender ribs, pulled chicken. I haven’t had the pork but my guest did and said it was tasty. Sauces — good variety of smoky and sweet sauces CONS The help — good manager but below avg cashiers, and help etc. A girl maybe the age of 14 ran my credit card which is just a bit odd for a place like this. The next time it was a cashier with no smile who acted like she hated being there. Some of the other help was similar. Little things mean a lot — the cheap paper towels, the styrofoam cups, the flimsy boats for the sides. Obviously trying to save money but gives it a roadside civic bbq feel. Over all, decent BBQ for lunch etc but don’t take anyone you want to impress.

Went here for lunch and the food was great and the service was amazing. I brought my baby and met a friend for lunch with her kids and some restaurants aren’t exactly thrilled when you bring 3 kids under the age of 5 to sit down for a meal. When I walked in I was greeted, the staff asked if they could help walk me through the menu, they gave me their own suggestions, and constantly gave my daughter attention. I got a brisket platter and it was great! I love brisket but I only love brisket if it is done right and it was! Half way through my meal one of the staff members brought out applesauce and a spoon for my daughter. She’s 8 months and she was acting fine, but he said his daughter loves it and he wanted her to give it a try if it was ok with me. She loved it. Smokee Mo’s was great and I will be recommending them to friends based on the food and the great service! Keep doing what you are doing guys, we need more unique places like you in the Arnold area!

We drove by this place a few times and saw the good reviews so we popped in. We enjoyed the brisket and pork. The sides were also delicious. Glad there’s a good place to go in Arnold that isn’t a chain or filled with grease.

I was impressed at how well the dining area was decorated. The owners didn’t skip the extras turning this space into their own restaurant. The chalkboard menu is reminiscent of some of the more well known St. Lois City BBQ joints. There is a large $ 12 sandwich called the Mangia Bene. It is basically well sliced beef brisket on cheese garlic bread with flavored mayonaisse. I don’t want to sell it short, this gargantuan sandwich was great. They cut it in half and for me at service. After I got through the first section, it was all but a foregone conclusion that the second half would also be eaten. I had a twice baked potato as the side dish. There were several other choices but the two bake was recommended. As a side, i was able to sample both the smoked chicken and the smoked turkey. Both were good but the turkey was borderline fantastic. The food was good. The restaurant was nice. But the staff really made this a five star review. The woman slicing the meat took my order, made recommednations and was very friendly. The staff all could be found smiling and really appreciateing their jobs. When I ordered the big sandwich a chorus rang out«Mangia Bene!» from the entire staff. That was a nice touch and made everyone in line smile. It also was a great marketing tool because the next three people ordered the same thing. FInally, the polite girl at the counter got everything ready and amde casual conversation while the meal was boxed up for take out. This friendly red head ended a nice meal in Arnold and sealed the fifth star for the restaurant.

Dang boys!!! Who knew JeffCo barbecue could be so amazing?!? Seriously… Found the place through Unilocal(no surprise) but the experience went over the top with the food. Walk in and it looks about like any one of everyone’s favorite smokehouses. Run through the queue that follows the far wall, past the soda machine and then you’re standing in front of the guy carving most of the meat. In my case, they were busy constructing some odd-looking sandwich that seemed to involve brisket for the people in front of me in line. I asked and its called the Mangia Bene. It basically breaks down as smoked brisket on house-made garlic cheese bread with a mayo-based sauce. Why not? I ordered one and the guy cutting meat yelled out«Mangia Bene» and everyone(the guys on the line, a few guys in the kitchen and the girl at the register) all echoed«Mangia Bene» as well. That was enough for my dining partner to decide to get the same thing. In all fairness, I had them go really light on the mayo-based sauce because I wasn’t feeling that part of the sandwich. What I was feeling was pretty damn happy when I took my first bite. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring and was juicy, tender and smoky all at once. They go a little lighter on the rub than a lot of places so the flavor of the meat really came through nicely. The slices were average thickness and piled up nicely on the sandwich such that it didn’t suffer each time I decided to pull one out and eat it solo or with one of their sauces. Garlic bread was toasted under the broiler so that the cheese both melted into the bread and browned. I don’t get to Arnold very often but this place just shot to the top of my list for the next time I find myself in the area.

First time here and so glad we stopped here! My coworker and i are out of Illinois for an off site. We actually Unilocaled to find this :-) we both got the same exact thing… brisket and pulled pork, broccoli casserole and twice baked potato. The employees were super nice and helpful as we asked questions. I was shocked when i was asked if i like fat on my brisket and when i said no the top layer was cut off before slicing. This was awesome because i actually always pick fat off of my meat so this is definitely a plus for me! The pulled pork was lean and smoky as well. The sides were delicious! The twice baked potato was so light and fluffy and oniony. I liked eating it with the broccoli casserole. You get a nice pice of cheesy garlic bread with your meal which is good too. They have 6 styles of sauce to choose from and the restaurant itself was very clean and industrialized looking(cool). There werent many people here at 11:00 so hopefully it picks up. If you are in the area, definitely stop at this place!!! Ps…their sweet tea is actully sweet!!!

It’s been quite a while since Imo’s and I have seen eye to eye in regard to pizza, but alas someone in the Imo’s family has learned to put out a great bbq. We’re really getting spoiled here in St. Louis — so many really good places to choose from, now here’s another one. We tried the burnt ends, pulled pork and ribs. The pulled pork was as good as any I’ve ever had, but really I think that’s the easiest one to pull off. Burnt ends were a special on the day we visited and it’s always been one of my favorites, so we tried it. They were very good, but might have benefited from being cut into smaller pieces. They were a tad dry and really needed sauce to work well. The good news is all the sauces were excellent. My wife didn’t like the«BBQ» due to the beer taste. I really liked them all. The ribs were very tender. The only complaint was the outer crust was pretty solid, so they needed to be cut apart. I’m getting nitpicky here, really — they were very good. For sides we had baked beans and broccoli casserole. Both were excellent. Maybe my favorite thing was no wait, unlike Pappy’s and Bogart’s, plus it’s a LOT closer to home. For me, Smokee Mo’s ranks between those two, not quite as good as Bogart’s. But that’s only on one visit. We’ll be back.
