Description

Specialties

Since the early 1980’s, Weaving Southwest has supplied the fiber world with beautiful hand-dyed yarns — weaving, spinning and dyeing equipment and supplies — looms and spinning wheels — locally woven tapestry, rugs and apparel — custom area rugs — and a year-round tapestry weaving classes.

History

Established in 1982.

Weaving Southwest was founded by Rachel Brown, author of The Weaving, Spinning and Dyeing Book in the early 1980’s as a weaving supply store. Shortly after, WSW expanded by representing local contemporary tapestry artists, becoming the first gallery in the country to solely feature tapestry artists.

In 2008, Teresa Loveless, Rachel’s granddaughter, took over the business. Teresa and her husband, Joe Barry, moved WSW to its new home in the Village of Arroyo Seco (just a few miles north of Taos) in 2012. There they continue to carry on the tradition of weaving, spinning in dyeing in the fiber rich region of Northern New Mexico.
