History

Established in 2005.

The Portuguese Community of Artesia had always had a place to call their own. A place where the residents were able to buy traditional breads and products they missed from home. In 2003, Portazil Pastry (a business that had been the heart of the community for over 15 years) baked it’s last piece of bread. Fortunately, in 2005, a new generation opened Portugal Imports. It’s taken new-ownership since 2007, but just as the longing to keep tradition alive continues, so do the breads, pastries, and products.

Meet the Business Owner

Marco and Melissa C.

Business Owner

Marco and Melissa are first-generation Portuguese. Both sets of parents are from the island of Terceira, found in the archipelago of islands known as the Açores (900 miles off the coast of Portugal). They bought the business in April 2007, in fear that the community would, once again, be without a bakery. They strive to provide their customers with the most traditional products, at the freshest quality possible.

«To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart»

(Thomas Watson, Sr.)
