Quality Inn & Suites Artesia – Cerritos

I understand this is a ‘budget’ hotel but it felt like a grimey ‘pay by the hour’ motel. Much like the pictures on Unilocal,the carpet was disgusting and was full of mysterious stains. The room ceiling had a ton of water damage. All of the furniture felt like it was from 1998. Just by the clientele who roam around this plaza you can tell this is a cheap sleazy hotel used only for cheap sleazy purposes.

After a long acid trip I couldn’t figure out if I was at the quality inn or the comfort inn. Both names are written everywhere. The Jacuzzi is luxurious and hot ²⁴⁄₇. Olympic size pool in the parking lot. Complimentary chocolate covered strawberries were on the bed upon check in. I really appreciated the towels in the bathroom that were crafted in to swans. Fully stocked fridge.
What really blew my mind was the Himalayan bath salts in the tub ready to go.
This was truly a magical experience thanks to the staff here at the quality inn. Or the comfort inn. Whichever name they finally decide to keep.

I am livid. I purchased two nights for my guest at Quality Inn & Suites in Cerritos. The young man I dealt with at the counter on Friday evening and on Saturday morning was wonderful and helpful and I wish I could give him a commendation. But it’s entirely overshadowed by the experience I had today.
I got a call from my guest today saying they were kicking him out because the room was reserved by someone else, and asking me what he should do. My guest has no financial means to just pick up and find another place and if he were dislodged from his room he would have been on the street.
I called the hotel to find out what was going on and had the most unpleasant customer «service» experience I’ve ever had in my life.
CARLOS said that the room was reserved by someone else and when I said that I had purchased the room for both Saturday night and Sunday night he said that his records only showed one night and that my guest was supposed to be out by 11.
I told him that I had been very explicit with the front desk person who had assured me that everything was in place and paid for for my guest to stay until Monday morning, so why was my guest being kicked out?
He said my guest was «not necessarily» being kicked out. I was like, «What does THAT mean? Not necessarily?»
Then CARLOS said that he had reports of unaccompanied minors in the room.
He’s threatening to kick my guest out because he thinks my guest is underaged? My guest is 18 years old and might look young but is on the reservation as the one person staying, and if anyone wanted to know his age they could have asked.
When I tried to address this CARLOS started trying to talk over me. I told him to stop trying to talk over me and he kept going and going talking over me saying the same thing over and over, which was ridiculous. He kept saying that he assumed that my guest was underage for the same reasons I assumed he was kicking my guest out! He kept saying it and it didn’t get any less ridiculous no matter how many times he said it.
I never assumed they were kicking my guest out! I got a phone call FROM my guest telling me he had been told that he had to get out. It turns out that CARLOS had simply ran my credit card again and then never informed my guest that the mistake had been corrected and he was fine. My guest was sitting there worrying that he was about to be put into the street.
CARLOS talked over me, implied he would kick my guest out for being an «unaccompanied minor», tried playing word games «not necessarily» failed to contact my guest to let him know everything had been settled AND revealed the names of the credit card holder AND the guest of the room in question without going through any type of verifying procedure of who I am.
I’m not the kind of person who wants to «get people fired» but this CARLOS has NO BUSINESS in «Customer Service.» It’s all about his ego and trying to talk over and play word games and be a smarmy jerk. And I can’t help but wonder: is ANY of this because my guest is black?!?
I don’t have time to even spend writing this email today. I don’t have time to drive to Cerritos to pick up my guest and take him to another hotel. If I had time to play host I wouldn’t have needed to spring for a hotel.
I will be contacting the hotel management directly, as well as phoning corporate tomorrow when they open.
Oh, by the way: there was a large dead cockroach on the hallway carpet Saturday morning in front of room 369 (the room my guest occupied Friday night) and then room 109 (the room he was supposed to have for Saturday night and Sunday night) smelled dank and musty. That room is quite near the pool and probably people traipse in while wet and maybe the carpet never gets a chance to dry out. There IS no breakfast served but the room keys are supposed to get you a 10% discount at the Denny’s in the same parking lot. There is a coin operated laundry area where you can wash and dry your clothes and buy single serving laundry soaps.

Does NOT live up to the name! Tried to call the front desk, found that the phone was plugged into a jack with no actual phone wiring. Roaches in the bathroom. Shook out the bath mat to put it on the floor, and a roach fell on my foot. Tried to wash off that lovely sensation and had no hot water. Free breakfast was advertised, but is not offered. Got a 10% discount at the over-​crowded and under-​staffed Denny’s next door. Also, they don’t tell you they require a deposit.

WARNING NO HOT BREAKFAST or breakfast at all is included anymore like the website says. This hotel is older and some rooms need maintenance, there were a few things that were broken in my room, a tile in the tub and striker plate on bathroom door was missing. I also had two ciggarette holes in my sheets! One of the main factors that helps me choose a location is if they provide hot breakfast which the website said this location did, but when we checked in we were informed they no longer did and they only provided a 10% discount at the Denny’s next door if you showed your room key. I couldnt cancel or change reservation after that so that was a huge disappointment since I don’t like Denny’s and didn’t want to take that much time for breakfast.

Good value &good location. Convenient to Buena Vista attractions. We come just to eat&shop in this multi-​ethnic area. We love all the «Indian «stores just around the corner. Clothes, jewelry, groceries, great restaurants — we love it. The bedding is clean and crisp. Big rooms. Plenty of well-​lit parking. Dennys restaurant in the same parking lot, means 24hour access to whatever, so that’s nice. Minus one star just because it is a bit older, but good value.

I understand what a budget hotel is all about, but I suppose I assumed Quality was just a little bit better. Not this one, not by a country mile.
*safety bar on door broken off and door frame cracked. Clearly someone kicked their way into this room.
*no alarm clock. Well, there was a battery operated alarm clock, but the battery was missing.
*not an outlet in sight to charge your phone or laptop. Found an old Belkin plug strip behind the head of the bed, you don’t want to know what was back there when I moved the mattresses to get at it.
*bed was like a soft fluffy canoe.
*“hot breakfast” was sausage pucks and miniature styrofoam yellow frisbees referred to as eggs. Tasteless but not odorless.
*front desk earned a C, maybe even a C-​. I’d say below average on efficiency, attitude and presentation. The night manager guy was trying very hard, he would do well at a better hotel. The ladies there in the afternoons couldn’t be bothered by guests.
*if you like your halls smelling of 420, this is your place. Welcome home.
*one ice machine on the property works, the others are there to mock you.
*if this is the only hotel left on the face of the earth, make sure you request the side NOT facing the freeway. Cars and trucks make noise ²⁴⁄₇.
*very efficient A/​C. Not only does is cool the room in seconds, the droning white noise drowns out the cackling Asian tourists heading to breakfast at 6am to load up on pucks and frisbees before a day of outlet shopping. Is volume not a thing in other cultures?
The rate is not so great that you can’t pass up this place. The price is wrong for a dump like this. Keep moving.

holy crap! lol… the pictures they used on the website must have been when they first built this hotel… it looks so clean on the website. they charged me one dollars for a deposit which they didnt mention that when i made reservations. what if i need that one hundred dollars? idiots! we checked in and was given a room on the third floor. we get to the door and door does not open. key card didn’t work. go in and i needed to plug my phone in and couldnt fine a wall outlet… wth? only one behind the small ass TV. dirty phone in our room. used coffe still in the coffee maker. this place sucks

Water damage on the ceiling and drapes, coffee pot missing filter holder, cockroaches, hair drier blows out sparks like a fire work! Paint cracking In Bathroom. Definitely not a QUALITY INN!

Disregard that single star this is a Roach Motel with no hot water and terrible wifi. They really! really! need to get it together

beware… allowed under age kids to rent a room and throw a drinking party. then charged outrageous incidental fees to their debit card. when a complaint was attempted the manager would not come to the phone.

Clean room, nice service shower water only warm not hot. 3 min late to breakfast wasn’t allowed to get any (my fault though I was late) I would stay here again

Bottom line up front: You are getting what you pay for.
If you’re just looking for a place to sleep when passing through without breaking the bank, you found it. If you’re thinking you’re going to get Las Vegas style treatment here in Artesia/​Cerritos/​Norwalk, you’re already an idiot.
This is my third time staying here and it’s always because I’m going to be busy all day and night but need somewhere to sleep without driving all the way home in San Diego. The rooms aren’t dirty but some of them are a little beat up. The A/​C is colder than most hotels I’ve stayed in across the country.
Overall I will stay here again when I need somewhere to sleep. If for some crazy reason I’ll be vacationing in Artesia, CA with my whole family then off course I’ll upgrade to a nicer hotel.

Purchased room with Expedia and was falsely advertised for jetted tub suite. Paid for and told upon arrival the room was incorrect. Would not refund and tried to charge me another $ 30+ for the room I had already purchased! Terrible customer service from onsite supervisor Melissa. If I could have received a refund I would have walked away and stayed elsewhere. WILL MOT STAY HERE AGAIN!

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Basically sums it up. We were looking for a cheap place to stay and this was it. I’m hoping our room was special, but in case it isn’t I’ll let you in on all the little amenities we got for no extra charge.
1. 3 door knob size punctures in the wall (not near the door)
2. A broken card key reader that literally took 5 minutes and some luck to get in.
3. A squealing shower head that can be heard quite clearly in the room (and possibly next door)
But before you go running, here are some good things about the place
1. Proximity to Denny’s and a gas station convenience store
2. Working AC/​heater
3. Cheap (kind of. We ended up paying ~$ 140 including taxes for 2 nights, so not exactly my cup of tea.)
4. Free WiFi (I tested .18Mbps down/.12Mbps up)
Overall I would not go back with so many other places to stay in the area. Might as well try a new one. I couldn’t be much worse.

I want to rate things higher, but darn it already, I just can’t.
The lobby was off to a great start on arrival, even if it was full of non-​English speakers on holiday (though no giant bus outside; they’re in a caravan of unmarked white club vans). Clerk was quick with check-​in amidst the pushy pleas for wi-​fi troubleshooting (never found/​connected theirs, by the by).
The room was, well, a room. The A/​C and heat worked well enough, though the one light bulb hanging from two wires from what was once ane of those eye-​ball-​looking surface-​mounted light fixtures was a bit of a let-​down.
The pool and spa/​hot tub looked… well, they had water in them. Both open 10am-​10pm or so, but the gate was propped open (no card key needed); happy I’m not their insurance agent. But the pool had a golden sort of crust on the bottom edge of the far side (nearest the 91 freeway), and the spa was more of a whirlpool: no heat. Disappointing to the little swimmer who really enjoys water, but not when the water is less than the air temperature (and it wasn’t that warm outside).
If your room is on the freeway side, you’ll definitely hear it, and every semi-​truck, motorcycle and ding-​bat revving up the onramp there at Pioneer and 91. Not sure about the opposide side that faces the residential area.
Buffet breakfast seemed reasonably well-​stocked, though get a chair first… not many of those to go around (bear in mind the caravan of vans and tourists, see?). And the hotel staff was keeping an eye on the supplies and guests, too; they were even quick enough to stop the one guy from trying to warm up his English Muffin in the waffle maker. (Funny, though as I was waiting to make a waffle, I’d have been less wait-​my-​turn if I knew that was his intent.)

We stayed here last night. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.
1. Pressured us to pay cash.
2. Carpet in our room was filthy. My white socks were black.
3. Double charged on my debit card and told me it would take 7 days to remove 2^nd charge!
4. Really seedy area with seedy people coming in to breakfast room. You had to give your room number and check in with the «Breakfast Police» for a minimal continental breakfast. Just not worth it. There is a Days Inn down the street that is a safer bet.

The Interior Rooms are nice, but the outside rooms are small and not that great. I was unhappy with my last visit because I phoned ahead to reserve an interior room specifically and was told okay. Surprise, when I checked in (kinda late at night) they said those rooms were not available with my corporate discount… funny since I used it the previous times, then I offered to pay full rate to be done with it and surprise, they were all booked?! Right. They need a better guy on the night shift. The area is sometimes bad, sometimes okay.

The room had gang tags in the directory book, and got charged 100 $ unknowingly for my small dog. sleep tight!

Not bad for the price from a travel site.
Clean (albeit the coffee stained carpeting — maybe should not offer coffee maker in room for those who are clumsy or don’t care) over all. I had a non-​smoking room. TV offered lots of channels. Unsecured internet available. So, far better than one of the Las Vegas strip hotels I just stayed in.
Breakfast was offered, but I did not partake. I overlooked the pool/​spa, it was empty since it was cool during my visit. Freeway close — little too close since I could see it from my room window. Parking was good on that side of the hotel and the freeway noise drowned out my noisy neighbors. Yep, the walls are a little thin. Close to Cerritos Mall and Little India. Not far from Knott’s Berry Farm.
I’d stay again, as the price was reasonable, decent parking, clean rooms and close to my needs.
