Olde Town Pickin’ Parlor

I came in the early afternoon to see if I could get my old guitar restrung, and the lady working in the shop was really friendly and welcoming. I haven’t picked up that old guitar in a long time, and she was really helpful getting the right strings and getting it fit in to get strung that day. They did a great job and have quite a nice selection of guitars and tons of other stringed instruments. I even put my name in to get some lessons. So, all in all, a great shop.

If you are purchasing a guitar over the internet: 1. Ask for pictures of the guitar’s interior. Especially the bridge plate. 2. Ask for closeup pictures of the bridge. 3. It is not disclosed, but you may have to pay the credit card transaction fee. 4. Make certain that it is understood, in an Email, that you can return the guitar for ANY reason. 4. They do not have Terms and Conditions on the their web page. Ask for the purchase terms and conditions in an Email. 5. Might have been a fluke but it took a call from me to get them to credit my credit card. That by the way was when I learned that I was repsonsible for the transaction fee, because my reson for returning the guitar was not to their liking.

Food here is good. Oh wait, I forgot they don’t have food. Must have been down the street at Breadwinners. But the music is real and the instruments are fair priced and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

This is easily the best stringed instrument shop in Colorado. They have an unrivialed selection of new and vintage Martins and Taylors as well as boutique shop offerings by Collings and even «one off» solo luthier-​built handmade flat-​tops, archtops and classicals. They also have the best of the best if you’re on a budget, too.
It isn’t just a guitar shop, though — they routinely carry mandolins, banjos, lap steel and ukes. I’ve even seen than upright bass in there! The owner Kit is a warm personality and very knowledgable. Try to plan your visit on a day when Toby (his pup) is there. Arguably the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. Honestly, Toby alone is worth making the trip!

I hate to give an instrument store a bad review but… my family and I went there the other day no hello’s looking for anything special. Then we were looking in the guitar area and the lady working came in and turned out the lights. I said I guess we have to leave and she said well its about 6 ’ oclock and we close at 6 but you can look out there but we are pretty much closed. I just think it was rude to turn the lights out on people whole they ate looking around. I wont be buying a ukulele from there!

Sweet music shop. Lot’s of great instruments that they’ll let you pick around on and the employees are really fun and nice. I feel lucky to have a place like this not to far from my house.

I absolutely love this place! I bought y favorite violin here and my husbands favorite guitar in his collection came from here. We love to attend the live shows they put on and are always happy to pick up our strings and others accessories here because they most always have what we need. Friendly, knowledgeable owner who really cares about his customers too!

I’ve not personally had a guitar set up there, but every archtop in there I’ve played was superbly set up and they were all done in house. Surperbly set up. Perfect.
It’s a must hit every time I’m in the Denver-​area.

This is a very nice appearing old-​school shop but BEWARE. They do not deliver. I had a $ 1,700 guitar on layaway owing $ 250, they sold it out from under me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CREEPS.

This is a great old school style shop that focuses mainly on acoustics but has some funky electric guitars as well and even some basses. They cover all price points.
The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and welcoming so even if you are one of those who are typically too intimidated to try out a guitar in a shop under the watchful eyes of the shredder next to you, you’ll find yourself sitting down on one of the many chairs here and trying out some great guitars. This is really where the shop shines, they don’t make you ask for most of the guitars and you can just grab a Martin, Guild or whatever off the wall and try it out.
I think the pricing is very fair as well.

I’ve been in here a couple of times, and I really like the atmosphere. This is definitely a great resource for alternative music lovers and students. I’ve come in here looking for traditional and non-​traditional method books, and both times, have left disappointed. Both visits I was looking for the most prolific violin method book, and both visits they only had the second volume, not the first. I also was looking for Marc O’Connor’s new method book, because this is exactly the type of store that would have it. Sadly they didn’t have it either, and the method books, although organized, do not match the signs posted in the method book section.
The good side is that employees have been helpful in looking for items, and answering my questions. They carry a wonderful variety of string types, and sizes, though only a couple of brands. I think it would be profitable for them to stock basic supplies and methods for instruments that they stock and sell, as they are conveniently located and I’d like to support a local company. They are clearly a guitar/​picked-​instrument centric storm so it is probably best to come here if you plan on studying bluegrass or country on these instruments.

Walkin in to Pickin’ Parlor’s like stumblin into a cellar full a moonshine in a dry county. The selection of high quality guitars, banjos and dobros is at first staggering; but don’t fear. The knowledgeable staff (all of whom are talented musicians themselves) will direct you to your ideal partner.
Besides drooling at the window when I walk by, I’ve purchased two great guitars and numerous small items over the years.
Whether you are an accomplished musician lookin for a new friend, a tune up for your old friend or just starting out on your musical adventure… take a stroll into Pickin’ Parlor! –Chantae

great singer/​songwriters in a great little venue… Show are very cheap for all the music from some of the best in the biz… checkum out online for shows and gear… check with Kit for whats the lastest and greatest in guitars, mandos, and one of a kind instruments… these guys can really help.

This is the best acoustic guitar store in Colorado. Kit (the owner) knows his stuff as well or better than anyone that I’ve met in any store in Colorado (and the dozen or so that I went to in LA too). He is a smart business person as well (watch out) and carries from the priciest high end custom built stuff to the entry level student models of guitars and mandos and most other stringed instruments. If he doesn’t have the one you want, he’ll find one for you. He has an enthusiam for music that carries over into his shop and everyone he meets. (If you need a resonator guitar, this is the place.)
