Creekside Taphouse

Very poor service. Always ask if they want a glass with can beer. Is it really that hard to split an order of wings.
I figure you last $ 15 on a two top. We didn’t order wings and didn’t have a second beer because it got warm waiting on the glass.

First off I love the atmosphere of creekside and that’s what brings me back everytime. The service is always polite and fairly on top of things. The downfall of this place is definitely the food. As a BBQ joint you should have something you can cook other than wings. The ribs are overcooked as is the brisket, the pork is dry, and the sides have always been inconsistent (they rarely taste the same). And as a fellow cook I find it to be very sad that they can’t cook a burger properly. Maybe it’s because I’ve only gotten it on burger day and they are overwhelmed in the kitchen. But on days like this don’t ask how someone wants there burger if it’s not gonna be cooked correctly. Just don’t ask on the special day just have them all be well done unless you order one of the menu priced burgers. I hope they can turn it around because I really want this place to be GREAT.

We visit Asheville as often as we can staying in different areas. It is not uncommon for us to look for ‘where the locals’ frequent for our nights out. We drove past this corner several times during our visit, consistently viewing families gathering out on the decks, along the creek, volleyball going, kids playing outside, and kept our promise to head here for an evening before we left town.
We were not disappointed in the least. After reading the latest reviews we prepared ourselves for a corner bar with mediocre everything… what a pleasant surprise we encountered! The atmosphere was entertaining inside and out with plenty to do for all ages. The drinks were above average and served with team efforts from the staff, timely, and well poured.
Our food was perfect, the brisket/​turkey combo was moist and better than any we had throughout Texas; the pimento cheese sticks were everything and more than the description lead on (the homemade ranch dip was worth it!) Sweet potatoe fries to perfection, not a bad representation of a patty melt at all-​the burger actually tasted like beef burger even smothered under carmalized onions and cheese… and the mac n cheese was like home made… we couldn’t have eaten more!
We relaxed, well fed, well served, creekside, in a pleasant and clean, divided, outside atmosphere watching more and more locals fill the parking lot, inside, and out, even begin to play volleyball… kids having fun, pets too! Like a big family reunion. There is something here you don’t just find everywhere!
Many may be thinking… this reviewer doesn’t get out much… oh, but we do! All over the country, and back home you will find us appreciating all kinds of great places that serve great food with memorable evenings. We hung out long enough to know there were some favorites people asked for no longer available, but the reactions were great with the new suggestions they chose. I will lastly state the less than great reviews we read shouldn’t keep you and yours from missing this place. This owner has got something going here!
No doubt, we will make a trip to this side of town next time we are around!

Love the place, great outside area with a deck and games and of course the creek running beside it. I went with several other people, we were greeted quickly and out drinks and apps came out on time, but it went down hill from there. We waited for an hour to get our food, during this time out drinks weren’t refilled and when we did get our food it was wrong, several things were incorrect and stuff was cold.
After a number of things going wrong she comped one meal and gave gift cards to everyone which was nice.
This was my first time going and I always like to try places a couple of times because I understand sometimes people or places are just having a bad night. I’ll give it another shot and we will see how it goes.
Again, the location and set up were perfect for a fun chill night so that alone will bring me back at least once more to see if I have a better experience.

The food is still pretty good, but they now often don’t have ANY BEER SPECIALS, got rid of brewery of the month, and all the rest of the beers are expensive now… Unless you want a 3 dollar pbr. This used to be my go to place in the neighborhood, now the new management is killing what I feel people have grown to love about this place. I’m boycotting even getting beer here now. The only redeeming quality right now is the food is good. It’s not my go to bar anymore. I know lots odds people refusing to go here now because of this. Used to be five stars, now two.

I would seriously drive out there just for their Cheerwine wings. Their burger was DAMN good too! good drink specials, tv’s, and a covered patio area. It is definitely in need of some lovin’ as far as aesthetics go but if you are looking for a good bar with good BAR food and good deals on drinks this is your spot! This place has sooo much potential! It needs to be cleaned up a bit but if you just finished playing recreational softball or you family just spent all saturday at a fall ball tournament… this is the place. It is ideal for large groups, I would stay away if you are looking for a date spot.

Wow, what great rustic hidden bbq gem this is. Liked the bbq sauce bar (8 options, self-​serve). Pulled pork was out of this world, greens were fantastic. Lots of good beer choices. Ribs were tasty but very very tough. The pork is as good as I’ve had.

This place was reccommanded by the hotel, maybe its the same owner. My wife could not cut the slab of ribs with a knife. My brisket was dry. I ordered a beer, i’m still waiting for it. The atmosphere was pleasant television no sound. The best thing about is on the way back to the hotel we found a whole foods and had some gelato.

I am here far too often not to love it. The food isn’t extraordinary, but it hits the spot. The staff and atmosphere keep me coming back.

Happy to have discovered, via Unilocal,this really fun place. Our dinners were terrific, the people were nice, and the place actually felt local and authentic, not a designed imitation of what a southern BBQ restaurant is supposed to be like.

If you like slow, apathetic service, bad food, dirty parking lot (piled up rotting trash bags that had been ravaged by animals and nobody bothered to clean up, and my kids got of our car and almost stepped on a used condom), and dirty picnic tables next to a filthy creek, then you may want to give it 4 stars. I don’t like those things, so I’m not giving it 4 stars.
I wonder what their health rating is– I happened to glance under the deck and crawlspace as we walked up the side of the building next to the creek and was frightened by what I saw there.

Oh Creekside, I love you so but your food is absolutely terrible. Why? We finally found something somewhat edible-​the Mac n cheese; but the next time I ordered it-​it was Mac n cheese soup. How do you mess that up? I love the service, beer selection, games and atmosphere but we honestly eat before we come or don’t go at all anymore. You have so much potential to be awesome, maybe get rid of your food and just be a bar-I’m sure the food trucks would love to park in your lot, or hire someone that knows how to manage a kitchen. I hate giving 2 stars but something needs to change. Sorry Creekside.

After 30+ years my favorite sandwich has been replaced. I have debated this for some time now, but after today I have to say the club sandwich here at Creekside is simply heaven on a bun. How they thought to but a grilled cheese sandwich in the middle of a club sandwich, add fried green tomatoes THEN add smoked pork… I will never know. This is an amazing sandwich guys. For those with smaller appetites it is a good sandwich to split. There are just so many flavors and they all compliment each other so well.
I will say their barbecue is simply amazing, it really doesn’t need «sauce». The sauces they do have are pretty amazing as well. A nice range of flavors from the vinegar based to mustard and everything in between. The mustard has a nice little kick which, in my opinion makes the sauce.
I would feel remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible beer selection here, always a new craft beer to try and a few standard favorites.
The staff here is always nice, friendly and make sure that you are taken care of.
I highly recommend to anyone who likes a little barbecue and a beer. For those with families, no worries there are video games, cornhole, volleyball, and many other activities!!!

We visited Creekside on a trip to Asheville. We had just gotten finished with a backpacking trip and we’re looking for some barbecue to eat as our first out-​of-​the-​woods meal.
The place was comfortable and service was great. It was pretty empty when we were there. Being beer fans, we were glad to try some local NC beers with our dinner. Our food was good. Neither of us were amazed but we did enjoy the choices of bbq sauces!
Unfortunately, when we returned home (to Ohio) a few days later and I saw my card statement I realized we had been overcharged. It looked like a simple type-​in error so I gave them a call. The person who answered took my information and said he get back to me after the dinner rush (totally understandable!). They never did so I called again a few days later (leaving a message this time). I also emailed the restaurant. I repeated these a few times over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately I was never given any response. So, despite the nice time we had at the restaurant, I am giving 2 stars for the poor service after the fact.

I love coming here to hang out and truly enjoy the beer and the atmosphere. It’s a great spot. However, the food is inconsistent and it’s a crying shame. It’s got to the point where we have to eat before we go.
Take for example the simple hamburger. It starts out with the best locally-​sourced meat Asheville has to offer, yet half the time the kitchen destroys it. Why would you ruin such beautiful product? It’s an insult to the animal that sacrificed its very existence to feed us.
Please owner… please make sure what leaves the kitchen is at least as good as what came in through the back door.

A taproom with a playground and a creek for kids to play in while parents are enjoying their adult beverages — genius! Food is mediocre but the beer selection is great. And like I mentioned in the first sentence, what more could you ask for?!

I like this place, although I often forget about heading out to Haw Creek to go there. It’s a fun atmosphere… a really good place to go on a beautiful Friday afternoon to have lunch and then skip the rest of the workday!
There’s a small outdoor area, which can get crowded. They have cornhole and a volleyball area outside, and pool inside, so if you are one who likes to hang out and play, you’re go to go with that here.
If you don’t want busy, then head there on a weekday. I was there last on a Thursday for lunch and it wasn’t crowded at all. We had a nice lunch outside.
The food is good — not amazing great — but good. I like the pulled pork sandwich. Make sure you grab some sauce from the bar though! They have several beers to choose from too.
When I think about places to go to just hang outside and have some food and grab a beer, Creekside Taphouse is on the list. Definitely a fun place when in a group. I’ve certainly seen families there with kids hanging out. And they do a lot of events and fundraising events for the locals which I love.

Love the food here. The fried pimento balls are oozing with yumminess. The pastrami sandwich is piled high and a super soft pretzel bun. the rubs and brisket are awesome! !! Love the outdoor patio. Funusic playong. Cool nreeze. small babbling creek in the background. Folks bring their chill dogs to hang out. It’s really a nice little local place to come.

I love this place, I used to work there! It has a great atmosphere and outdoor seating area. Two bars on busy, summer days. They also hold a ton of events from volleyball leagues to reggae music night. Everyday there’s a great special, too. Wing game is on point! Swing by for some good company.

Food was very good. Pork BBQ sandwich was tasty and not dry. Collard greens cooked in IPA were yum!!! BBQ club was DELICIOUS… Probably best item of the night
Chicken club was also tasty
Service was great but took a while to get the food. Overall great place and I will return!
