Enter The Earth is more than a rock shop! We are a rock, mineral, and fossil lover’s dream come true! We specialize in museum and top quality gems, minerals, fossils, jewelry, gifts & home décor from around the world!

Enter The Earth features a multitude of enticing minerals & fossils from Madagascar. From brilliantly colored Labradorite & Ocean Jasper pieces, to intriguing Ammonite fossils. Each piece is absolutely one of a kind. More of our most popular items are Quartz, Rose Quartz, Polychrome Jasper, Celestite, Carnelian, Nautilus, Trilobites, Petrified Wood and our incredible line of mineral & fossil jewelry, including local artists’ pieces! We also sell lovely mineral & fossil tables and lighting, great for home décor.

Enter the Earth also has a Wholesale side to the business. We import new minerals and fossils directly from Madagascar twice a year! So why not Enter the Earth, & see for yourselves!

History

Established in 2002.

Since he was a child, Nader, the owner, has always enjoyed collecting rocks & fossils. He began selling out of the back of his car at music festivals around the country, following his favorite band, Widespread Panic.

In 1998, a friend took Nader to his first Tucson Gem & Mineral Show (the largest in the world!) There, he met Paul Obiniche, the sole owner of the Ocean Jasper mine, only found in Madagascar. Paul became Nader’s mentor in the rock business.

Nader opened the Gallery in 2002 in a small space inside the Grove Arcade in Asheville, NC. In 2004, Nader opened the wholesale side of the business & took his first trip to Madagascar was in 2005, where he stayed with Paul, hand picking each item for the gallery. The Enter the Earth Gallery moved into a larger space inside the Grove Arcade in 2006 & introduced it’s first Online Store in 2007.

Today, Enter the Earth has a Retail Gallery, a 10,000 sqft wholesale warehouse, & 5 websites!

Every time I visit Asheville, I make sure to stop at this store to see what new items they have in stock. I never leave empty handed. They have the best selection of rocks, fossils, minerals, and gems. The quality of their selection is the best. The customer service is fantastic. The staff makes you feel welcome and will answer any questions.

This is a nice shop with lots of variety, but be very careful going in there with kids. During our second stop at the shop, my young daughter pointed at a stone and in doing so knocked over an item which then trickled down and knocked off other items. Management was in a major panic, as parents we automatically knew that we would need purchased any damaged items. We didn’t see the signs and we were immediately reminded to not touch and that «this is why we give kids crystals, they shouldn’t touch anything else», stating all this while focused on our young daughter. My daughter was not intentionally grabbing things, she pointed at something, things happened and again, we were prepared to pay for the damage. I tried to get the manager to focus on me and discuss the damages, but she insisted on dropping to my daughters eye level, get in her face and remind her that all the signs exist for a reason. We paid for the damage and even made an additional purchase, but the way they handled it was unprofessional and focused on scaring kids. As a big supporter of Asheville businesses, this is one that I will need to remove from my list. Every person in there was yelling across the store to let us know how lucky we were that there wasn’t more damage.

Totally rude. Walked in with a child and the worker had to announce to everyone that if she didn’t touch or break anything then she could have a free crystal. That’s a pretty rude way to treat your guests. We were there for her to pick something she wants since she loves gems and we have bought a several things from here before. Guess that’s our last visit here. After talking to the employee she was clueless that she did anything wrong. Everyone likes to touch and feel the stones that they pick out to make sure they get the ones that they like best.

I live in DC and always make this a stop on my way to visit my honey’s family in TN. Enter the Earth has amazing stuff! Granted, it’s not the cheapest, but I certainly find that the quality of their stock is the best. I’ve bought items from them in person as well as their eBay page, and both times I have been super happy.
Their staff is great, too! I inundated them with a load of questions, and they were very patient and answered all of my questions in a very professional manner. It’s definitely a go-​to place when visiting Asheville!
