OMGCOMEHERE! When I first saw where it was I was doubtful but the food is fantastic and this is easily the best salmon I have EVER had. Recipe for the beurre blanc please? The restaurant is quaint with huge windows, but sit in the courtyard if the weather is nice. They also server half glass of wine, so I could have a red with my beef tartar and white with salmon and not overdo it. Just a fabulous hidden gem!

While back in Asheville, we stopped back at Fig. Overall, the experience as notes enjoyable as we remembered. My wife had the Mac & Cheese which she enjoyed. I started with the mussels which were very spicy. It concerned me that the chef may have been trying to hide old mussels by adding extra spice. But I ate them with no ill effects. We did notice that the portions were smaller than our past visits. My pork did not come with any veggies, just some puff pastry with jam in the middle. Service was efficient but not friendly. I remember our server from prior trips, so maybe she was having a bad day. Overall, this visit was a step or two below our past visits.

Excellent food and even better service. The bacon wrapped scallops are to die for. Shauna was an excellent server. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

After reading several Unilocal reviews I have to say our party of eight were disappointed ! I had the PEI Mussels which were nice and the Tuna salad appetizer which was also ok. A few of our party had the Risotto which I sampled and was overalls citrus and the rock shrimp added nothing to the dish. On the positive side the Salmon and chicken breast dishes were VERY good. Wine list was limited and slightly over market price.

This was our first night in Asheville when we stumbled on this restaurant while we were out and about. Lucky for us that we found this place because it is exceptional. They were having a private party but accommodated us with a table outside in the courtyard. We had the strip steak and the salmon. Both were perfectly prepared. They had a new desert, lemon mascarpone ice cream with blueberries… Oh it was marvelous. The chef had such an attention to detail and we appreciated everything that was served.

Fig bistro is unassuming in an easy to pass location. What it lacks in visibility it more than makes up in flavor. The restaurant is located in the Biltmore village vicinity but off to the side and up some stairs in a building that doesn’t look like it should have a café with a small courtyard-esque area but it does. This restaurant embodies words like intimate, European, cozy, simple, tasteful, and timeless. The flavors are perfectly balanced not too crazy but interesting enough to give it a modern feel. My party of three was particularly famished upon arriving. We started off with perfectly crispy Parmesan truffle fries they very Frenchly call pomme frites. I ordered duck soup and shared the Ruben with one of my companions. My other friend ordered the risotto minus the oyster mushrooms(horrifying I know). When our main dishes arrived we might have put in for a second order of pomme frites. Because why not? The Ruben was damn good. I would say one of the better ones I’ve had in town. Not overflowing with too much of everything and soggy bread. But the perfect quantity that gives enough to taste each element with crisp bread. My friends risotto had parsley oil. How awesome is that? You should say very. Because it gave the dish a vibrant green and a made it a perfectly delightful risotto despite the missing oyster mushrooms. After every last crumb was polished off the server asked if we wanted to see the desert menu. One moment of feigning fullness and we all agreed to glance at the menu. The verdict was bread pudding with a caramel sauce. The chef was kind enough to actually divide the bread pudding into thirds and plate it beautifully. I don’t often comment on the service but that was really above and beyond my expectations. Ten stars for service. The bread pudding was wonderful, I’m glad I got my fair share of caramel sauce and it didn’t come to fists over the last bite. I recommend this place as a simple go to everyday lunch or feeling fancy dinner on date nights. This will be my new fave in town.

Had a great dinner here at Fig Bistro when we visited here from NYC. The service was friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. We can here for the day before Valentine’s Day. The husband got a Moroccan(or was it Tunisian?) special dish, and I got the salmon. The salmon was amazing, cooked just perfectly medium, and great pairing of vegetables. The only disappointment was dessert. pots the crème wasn’t all that interesting and it was a small serving.

A friend & I had went for a pedicure nearby and stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. Several open tables but we were asked if we had a reservation and we said no. We were seated at a tiny table(with 2 four top tables open next to us through the whole meal) and I ordered Mac-n-cheese and my friend had the bolognese. It was fantastic and wonderful service. I’d say that the only downside is that my friend and I started to «catch up» and talking for awhile so they asked us to leave so they could vacate the table because they had«a lot of reservations coming in». First time that has ever, ever happened to me. Clearly you need a reservation and have patience finding parking. Food and service was fantastic though.

Spent the day walking around Asheville and just happened upon this quaint restaurant. With an emptiness brewing in our stomachs we decided to pop in. Although it was packed, they were able to promptly seat us(though at the bar). Service was quick and friendly. We ordered up the quiche of the day, which was amazing! Glad we happened upon this place!

What is happening to Fig Bistro? Fig used to be one of our favorite Asheville places, especially for the steak frites and mussels. We hadn’t been there in a while, and when we back recently for our 6:30 reservation, we were the only customers in the restaurant. Eventually, seven other people did arrive, with a total of four tables occupied, but the restaurant still seemed empty. True, it was a rainy Monday evening in February, but this is at a time when it’s often difficult to get reservations at anytime at spots like Cúrate and Limones and except very early or late at Chestnut, Corner Kitchen, Bull and Beggar, Ruth’s Chris and others. One thing Fig should do is get on Open Table like all the other upscale restaurants in Asheville. Our meal started off badly when we ordered a pre-dinner drink. My vodka martini was cold and dry but very, very watery, and the bar didn’t have cocktail onions for a Gibson. The waitress didn’t seem to know anything about liquors or cocktails and could only offer my companion basic drinks. Apparently craft cocktails haven’t come to Fig. The Old-Fashioned my companion ordered, and got promptly, also was very watery. The drinks were so bad and the atmosphere in the empty room so unappealing we almost got up to go somewhere else but decided to stick it out. Two cocktails and one glass of a Malbec was $ 30; the wine was $ 8, there was no cocktail menu with prices for the cocktails. We split a pork belly appetizer($ 12), which was fine but not memorable. Finally the waitress brought olive oil and bread, good French bread but only five thin slices(later she brought another serving). I wanted steak frites, the standard version of which wasn’t on the menu, but the waitress and kitchen improvised with a ribeye, cooked rare and sliced with a version of Béarnaise sauce on the side, eliminating the vegetables that came with it and substituting a partial order of pommes frites(altogether $ 35). My companion had the appetizer mussels as an entrée($ 12). Again, these were fine but not memorable as some we’ve had at Fig in the past, and my companion didn’t finish the relatively small serving. I ended the meal with an espresso. When we were brought the bill, it was quickly clear the total was wrong. We were being overcharged by around $ 26. This was cleared up(«sometimes the calculator is wrong,» we were told), and we left a generous tip. However, if this were our first visit to Fig we would not return. Maybe it a night off for some of the regular staff, but if you’re paying well over $ 100 with tax and tip for a simple dinner for two, guests deserve better than this. We’ll go back once more to see if things improve, but at this point I’m taking Fig Bistro off my list of recommended first-tier restaurants in Asheville.

Popped in to this quaint little place and they did their best to squeeze us in without a reservation. My wife had the mac and cheese(they dont call it that) and it was very rich and filling. I went with the Reuben that comes with a made on site dressing and it was so juicy and tasty. Prices are reasonable but I would definitely call ahead to assure seating.

Very attractive décor and great food. I had a quiche and baby-greens salad. My daughter had the risotto. Both were excellent. Great service, pleasant and quick. If I lived in Asheville, I would be back frequently. Unfortunately, I am limited to when I visit.

Ah Fig– in a town filled with so many culinary wonders, I was happily impressed. For starters, the servers were fun, engaging, and super friendly. The pork belly appetizer with parsnip purée and pomegranate gastrique was awesome. I mean tender as all hell get in my pork belly, with a slightly crispy outer skin. Everything worked with this dish. The duck entrée was cooked to a perfect med-rare, with October beans in a Sherry jus. Oh, and corn fritters! Those were amazing. The banana cake with banana brulé, peanut butter, chocolate, and honey roasted peanuts was also fantastic. like a deconstructed smoothie or something. Rich and satisfying. Price point? perfect. Totally worth the value. I’d go back in a heart beat. Might go back tomorrow, just to try their poached pears dessert. Great experience!

Chosen for an anniversary celebration with friends, Fig shined. It is a small restaurant with both indoor and open cloister seating. Appetizers of sweetbreads and pomme frites were expertly prepared and delivered hot from the kitchen. Another appetizer was traditional tartare which brought great joy to the dyed-in-the-wool tartare lover. Entrees included a fabulous duck breast, cooked perfectly, tasty and tender. Mushroom Risotto was filled with subtle but distinct flavor. Salmon was properly cooked to order and perfect in every way. Dinner without wine averaged about $ 40 per person. Wine choice is very nice. All ten of us we were quite pleased with our dinner and would highly recommend Fig!

Asheville, N. C. is a long way down I-81 from Baltimore. The downtown and surrounding areas are dotted with art and good places to eat. While the Beaufort House Inn B&B took great care of us for breakfast, we were on our own for lunch and dinner. They did provide us with a list of local favorites. Fig got a good review, so we headed there one night. Asheville could use more street signs and the streets sometimes change names, but nothing is very far away. Fig is in an office/shop complex. Like a smaller version of Cross Keys. We saw the sign from the street and found the entrance to the courtyard. Five or six tables outside and maybe close to the same inside. We sat outside in the cool Summer evening. Fig is one of those places where you put a fork or spoonful in your mouth and then let the flavors unwind before chewing and swallowing. Fig has their own twist for french fries and our new friend at the net table shared a few with us. I seldom see sweetbreads on a menu and they were not on the online menu. They had them and I was hooked. They were nicely prepared, delicate and tasty. Bette had the Salmon with melted leeks, fingerling potato home fries, oyster mushrooms, pinot noir jus. We shared one dessert; Panna Cotta. It was described as lemon and goat cheese panna cotta, raspeberry-thai chili sorbet, fig balsamic reduction. A lot of words there, but the combination was sublime. If you’re a foodie, you will enjoy Fig.

Simple, but clearly well-thought out French menu. Authentic use of sauces across six different meats and seafood. Great vegetables(I even ate black-eyed peas) Even great deserts with authentic French inqedients. Location is a bit odd — in the bottom floor of a condo and retail bldg. Just walking distance from the Grand Bohemian and close to the Biltmore. Off the beaten path but well worth it!
