History

Established in 2014.

Lex 18 is Asheville’s only authentic prohibition era speak easy, moonshine craft cocktail bar and supper club. Frequently visited by Asheville’s Thomas Wolfe’s father W.O. Wolfe between 1904 — 1922, Lex 18 was called Eureka Saloon. Wolfe mentions Eureka Saloon in his famous book Look Homeward Angel. Still owned by the same Irish family, The O’Donnells — Asheville’s original speakeasy operates today as Lex 18 — Southern Appalachian Restaurant, Moonshine Cocktail Bar and Live Jazz Supper Club. Considered Asheville’s most romantic restaurant Lex 18 have helped revive a craze for new and antique delicious prohibition cocktails. We incorporate Appalachian moonshine, fresh fruits and elixirs. Our Western North Carolina fresh and local cuisine is inspired by the history Southern Appalachian fine dinner served at the fancier restaurants of the 1920’s. Business Owner

Georgia Malki, was born in Madrid Spain and has spent much of her adult life focused on the intersection of hospitality, sustainability and marketing. Her love of culture drew her to the mountains of Western North Carolina and its Cherokee, Spanish and Celtic cuisine.
