Awesome sandwiches. Clean fast and friendly. Old school roast beef is a proper sand which.

Really happy with Old School Subs! My husband is OBSESSED with the Reuben and, after trying a bite of his, I can see why. I ordered a Cuban based on another review and it didn’t disappoint. Like the other reviewer said, it’s hard to find good iterations of certain ethnic food here in Asheville and this was pretty good. We’ll definitely be back!

These men slave over these subs. The leave work every day drained and beaten for they put their lives into these sandwiches. Just incredible.

My wife and I stopped by after reading reviews on this site. We have been looking for a place that has a good Cuban sandwich since we moved up here. This place hit the spot, it’s a small place, parking kinda sucks but it’s worth it if your in the area. My wife and I both had the Cuban, it was a little heavy on the pickle but it was a very good sandwich, the potato salad was very good as well. If your looking for a good Cuban sandwich and are in the Ashville area trust this fat guy this place has a good one. We plan on stopping by again and try one of the other sandwiches next time.

Simply the best classic style subs and sandwiches in Asheville. I’ve been hunting for our sandwich shop after moving to Avl from Los Angeles. I’ve tried jersey mikes, firehouse, jjs, blimpie, Rolly Polly, etc. all pretty weak, some ok. Old School totally nails it. The only cons are the prices are a bit higher and they’re closed on Sundays(i need subs for football!). But those are minor when the subs are this good.

Looking for a great lunch spot for sandwiches and we found it. It was off the beaten path but worth the effort. I had the Reuben and it was tasty. My wife had the meatball. Aside from being huge it was delicious. Their potato salad was the best we’ve had.

NEW Menu Item ALERT! Just stopped by Old School to get a sub and they are changing up their menu. I decided to go with the new Chipotle Steak and Cheese. The sandwich consists of «Hickory Nut Gap top round steak cooked with onions, sweet peppers, White American Cheese & house made Chipotle mayo». The steak had a great taste all on its own, it was nice and juicy. The combination of the sweet peppers and the spice of the homemade chipotle mayo gave this sandwich a really robust flavor. Well worth a try. Since Old School has moved locations to a little bit further up Sweeten Creek, I have been there a few times and have never had a bad sandwich. They have several sides like potato salad, pasta salad, cole slaw, a fruit cup or the ever popular chips.(FYI, the sweet onion and jalapeño chips are quite good, you should try them both.) All of the meats are either from Hickory Nut Gap or Boar’s head. They have a wide variety of subs and salads here, of which are quite good. The do cater. Oh… Almost left out the best part! They serve breakfast ALLDAY!

It took my husband and I way too long to finally try this place! If you keep driving by and wanting to try it … Get in there! We have gone and been back 3 times this month already. We split the Chipolte Chicken(which was/is a special) and also the Old School Chicken on our first time there. We came with our 1 year old who had a side of turkey and a slice of cheese. The owner Dominic is the real deal! He makes all the dressing and sauces, as well as shaves the meat and cheese to order. He definitely knows what he’s doing and has got it going on! Don’t ever go to subway or firehouse etc ever again! You won’t be disappointed! They also deliver!

My favorite Italian sub ever! The bread is crusty and not too tough, with finely shredded lettuce, tomato and onion, but the real kicker is the meats. All of the traditional Italian meats plus mortadella! I know of no other sandwich shop in the area that has it on their sub. If you don’t know what mortadella is, it’s a garlicky pork sausage that has little bits of pork fat in it. It definitely makes the difference! I’ve tried quite a few of Old School’s other sandwiches and I have been pleased with all of them(the turkey Rachel is excellent), but I always go back to the Italian sub. All of their subs also come with a side so they really are a good value, especially for the quality of their meats. The new location is also very nice, and it’s much easier to park. It’s in the same building as Sherwin Williams Paint on Sweeten Creek Road on the way into Biltmore.

This is what a sub shop should be. Homemade, local, and making their sauces and soups fresh. Great people running the shop and making everything. They treat their employees and workers like family too. I always feel welcomed when I come in and full when I leave. DONOTLEAVEWITHOUTGETTINGONEOFTHEIRCOOKIES(that would be a huge mistake as they are probably the best cookies in town)

Their hours of operation are wrong on here. I went yesterday and they closed at 5 pm not 7. Info needs to be updated on here.

This place may seem like just another Sub shop. Its not. The food is amazing and the staff seemed genuine and put love in their creations. My husband and I got the classic Turkey on Wheat which is a cold sub and the Cajun Turkey on wheat which was a hot sub. They both had generous amounts of Boars Head meats and cheeses. The rolls were soft and locally made. The toppings were also delish. The sides that came with our sandwiches were pretty awesome too. We chose the potato salad and pasta salad. We definitely will be returning customers. They are moving soon but just up the street. If you want a place that is exactly what their name implies… this is it. Old School Rocks !!!

Bangin. We spent the day and way too much money at Screen Door Antiques down the road and I spotted this joint on the way to our shopping excursion. After swiping our plastic to melting point we wanted a hearty, reasonably priced lunch for three. Great ingredients, great execution, and FAST. Totally bare bones shop with just a couple small tables. That’s all ya need in a good deli … the grub speaks for itself. I have to imagine that anyone who works nearby orders lunch from here often. In our group we ordered one roast beef au jus dip special(split a 12″) and a hot pastrami sandwich. None of us were the least bit disappointed. Dr. Brown’s soda to boot. ;) go old school immediately if not sooner.

LOVE this place! Egg BLT is delicious and always done perfectly. All the sandwiches I have tried were wonderful. Customer service is great and reasonably priced especially in location. I highly recommend these guys, you should not be disappointed!

This place is exactly what I wanted it to be. A hole in the way sub shop like the ones I frequented inside bodegas in NYC. I work around Biltmore Village, and places here are not cheap. But Old School gives you 6 inch subs stuffed with meat for a very reasonable price for the area. Plus it’s Boar’s Head so you know you’re getting quality. The egg salad is spot on, and the steak and cheese was like Philly Heaven. I have yet to try something I don’t like. Also, the people there are always so nice and even remember my name after only 3 visits. Parking is tricky and a little hard to get out of if you want to turn left, but that’s not a deal breaker for me. Only, there is very little seating so plan on taking it to go. Makes a wonderful picnic. Great little place for lunch!

Unassuming store front but stopped for lunch. Great egg salad sandwich, good pickles, and fresh fruit. A good old school sub and salad shop.

Old School Subs has Boar’s Head Brand meat and cheeses. The produce is typically very fresh and delivery is about 30mins most weekdays. They menu features specialty subs along with build-your-own option, also have Deep River Chips… try maui onion(purple bag)!

I really like this place. Top notch, quality Boar’s Head meats and great sides. Very simple, New York-style deli with friendly service and totally decent prices(it’s actually cheaper than SubWay on a lot of comparable items). A small gem in the Biltmore Village area.

The owner has since then described me as feisty for contesting his prices but I did hear today that the cost of a sub & sandwich-sliver was lowered accordingly. Yay, Old School Subs. Thanks for listening to the people. May your shop live long and produce many lunchtimes for the Biltmore area people.
