We came to the Magnetic Field to see the Blue Skies Burlesque show. I am very impressed with their unique cocktail list. I chose The Billionaire, which was very tasty. The show was enjoyable as well — thank you, Magnetic Field, for a great night! I can’t wait to come back!

Visiting from out of town and were happy to find this place which sounded quirky and fun and ended up more fun than quirky and the food was terrific! You don’t have to watch or pay for a show during your dinner/drinks, as it is not a dinner theater, which we weren’t sure about based on the reviews. We arrived in the middle of the show and the place was empty. There was a friendly staff and we got right in it with a nice cocktail and appetizer of beet salad. We got the Flat Iron Steak and the Shrimp & Grits and, like Lan S., we thought they were terrific. Especially loved the mushroom sauce on the steak and, oh my goodness, the bacon in the shrimp dish. Wow. It actually got a little crowded when the show let out but never was loud or obnoxious. We had a great time and recommend this place highly. Cheers!

In addition to the space for live performances, which is a wonderful thing, the servers give good advice on what to order from the menu and the food is great. I won’t check all the boxes offered for«Ambience» but this place could be any of those, depending on the show. Something for everyone! Closed on Sunday and Monday. Open after 4p(?) during the week with full menu after 5. Not open late-night/a.m. hours.

Magnetic Field is one of the newer River Arts District spots, and still a generally undiscovered gem. The restaurant and bar adjoin a little 64-seat theater, which presents alternative drama, comedy nights and poetry slams. Tonight we had what were described as the two most popular dishes on the menu — Flat Iron Steak and Shrimp and Grits — and they were up to the highest standards of Ashevlle. My Flat Iron Steak, with gnochi, chanterelle mushrooms, greens and heirloom tomatoes in a cabernet sauce($ 18), was absolutely delicious. My wife’s Shrimp and Grits with a gumbo sauce($ 14) was perhaps a little light on the shrimp(just four) but the sauce was outstanding — she said it was among the best she has had. The latest cocktail menu, just introduced, is creative, with unusual offerings such as three kinds of Old Fashioneds and the Ernest Hemingway Daiquiri(with grapefruit juice). Cocktail prices are reasonable — generally $ 7 and $ 8. Local craft beers on draft are $ 4. Our dinner with a total of four drinks and a shared ice cream dessert came to around $ 85 with tip and tax, in the range of other Asheville restaurants of this quality. We’ll definitely go back!

Although the Magnetic Field opens at 3pm Monday thru Saturday, dinner service begins at 5pm and ends at 9pm Tuesday thru Thursday and ends at 10pm Friday and Saturday. It is located at the southern end of the River Arts District. I can’t believe there aren’t more reviews about this restaurant. I’ve eaten at the Magnetic Field several times and the food has always been excellent. I especially like the crab cakes which are on the regular menu, but I’ve mostly eaten items off the specials menu. The service has always been extremely friendly and efficient. If you like dinner and a show, this is the place to go as the Magnetic Field Theater is located in the same building. The door to the theater is to the right of the bar.

Just had a drink before heading back to Black Mountain. Did not catch the performance but it sounded interesting.

Everyone simply needs to go here. Outstanding cocktails by Cynthia. She is a great practitioner of her craft. And the food was outstanding as well. Holy Moley this place is good. Wonderful service and Shaun the owner stopped to chat with us. A bit off the beaten path, but it was just great

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Magnetic Field has become my go-to cocktail destination in Asheville. Cynthia, who happily, seems to ALWAYS be there, is an incredible bartender. She mixes up absolutely perfect classic cocktails, as well as her own inspired innovations. Most recently, she offered me a variation on the traditional negroni that included allspice and an alternative bitters to the usual Campari. Mind blown. And as the weather gets warmer, there is probably no other drink as light and refreshing as the bottled americanos they are serving in cute little 8 oz. bottles. I’m kind of in love with them. I still highly recommend dining here, but if you’re just looking for a place to get a really well-made cocktail in a calm, classy, adult atmosphere(read: no frat boys, no patchouli), this is the place.

Awesome drink menu, great beers, wonderful service and hip, so hip. Great place for a date as you will pay twice that for a dinner of this quality anywhere else. Plus there is a theatre for plays, comedy, or poetry attached to the bar/restaurant. It’s located down in the up and coming trendy hotspot of West Asheville. Hurry down before everyone else figures it out.

I had dinner at Magnetic Field last night for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We came in early and had no trouble finding a seat, and the service was great. The small menu had several interesting items, and both of our meals were lick-the-plate delicious. While we were eating the restaurant became quite busy, and I could see other customers were not being waited on as quickly as they would have liked. I’m looking forward to coming back for a show.

Huzzah to the new and wonderful! The Magnetic Field is a great small theater, who’s first show I found stupidly funny, and wildly wrong. Now I may have felt that way because my belly was full of yummy food(and equally interesting cocktails.. .) As off beat as the performance was, the menu is spot on, with a decent wine selection, and a slew of local brews on tap. Here’s the kicker.. . It was a darn cheap night out! Ticket, dinner and a couple of beers were about $ 30. I’m sure that I will be spending a lot more time here(to see another play, or just eat and drink).
