History

Established in 1926.

The history of James River Equipment dates back to 1926, when Rudolph Romer opened a John Deere dealership in Holly, Colorado. Rudolph’s dealership was able to prosper in spite of the depression, almost entirely due to its commitment to the customers. The foundation of offering quality products and backing them up with exceptional customer service was laid, and it expanded eastward in 1977 when a dealership was purchased in Virginia, begetting the first James River Equipment. Mark Romer is our current president and the great-​grandson of Rudolph, which makes us more than a business. We are a family.
