Was not worth the money at all for the manicure that I received. The filing & shaping of my nails were horrible. When told to pick out a color of polish, I said I just wanted clear. That is all I got was 2 skimpy coats of clear, no base coat, no top coat. Because of a language barrier with the manicurist there was no way to even communicate ‘during’ the manicure. Not worth $ 30, maybe $ 20. Will not go back or recommend.

I could have written Ellis’ review myself. I had the exact same experience! No music, a little dark. The manicurist seemed pleasant at first but then complained that I wasn’t «relaxed». She kept pushing my pinkie finger down with her hand until it got annoying. I go for a manicure because I want to relax and be pampered! At one point she scratched herself in attempting to push my fingers down and then blamed me! Not a pleasant experience! Plus, she cut my cuticles until they bled… I’m still sore & have scabs instead of having my nails look beautiful! Also, she never told me how much my mani/pedi cost, took my credit card at the end, and asked if I wanted a receipt.(Yes, please.) It was $ 55 including tip, but I still don’t know what the base cost was. My purse was also left sitting by the chair(not brought over to the drying area). Normally I pay before the manicure so my nails don’t have to dig through my purse for my wallet. Of course I smudged a nail(but didn’t want to stay any longer!!) I was also afraid she’d yell at me for being careless! Move over Soup Nazi & meet Nail Nazi!

I had a strange experience here this week. I needed a manicure, as it’s been 3 weeks, and was in Ashland between classes with a couple hours to spare. I couldn’t find a salon I looked up online and randomly came across this place. First, the lights were off inside and the closed sign was up. I walked up to the door because it was during the business hours printed on the door and it was unlocked. I walked in and asked if they were open, and one woman sitting at a station with a lap top said yes and I informed her that the sign was on closed. The salon is nice enough and the woman was friendly, but it was very strange. No music playing, very dark, and sort of uncomfortable with no other people around. She kept messing up my nails and sighing loud and blaming it on my fingers not being relaxed enough. She painted over the mistakes and then sat me at a lamp to dry, but unlike other salons, she just left my wallet, phone, and keys on the floor at the station instead of bringing them to me. She got back on her laptop and that was it. I sat there for 10 or 15 minutes and my nails would not dry because of how much polish was on them. I ended up smudging every single nail between the salon and my car. A frustrating experience but not like I’ve had better in Southern Oregon. I got my nails done in Portland at some small salon that was packed full and they were beautiful for 2+ weeks. Why can’t anyone down here get it right? I feel like I’m living in a third world country. 2 stars for a nice clean shop and no wait.

We were referred to Le Château after trying to get in to Recess, which seems to be a sister salon of Le Château. Recess only had one person working and didn’t have time for us, but Le Château did. We were coming in for a mani-pedi for myself and a girl friend of mine. We were set up for pedicures… the usual: File, buff, a lotion rub down(massage would be over stating since it was really more like a «pet»). They did sugar scrubs for both of us plus I paid the $ 5 extra for the callous treatment. All was going well until the manicures. One girl started on my hands while the other woman proceeded to leave my friend in the pedicure chair and read a magazine. … really? Then my gal messed up on one nail and tried to just paint over it, leaving a big piece of nail polish lump, I asked her to redo it. Another nail she painted so thick, there was a huge lump that formed at the angle I was holding my hand. I asked her to redo that as well. Despite her taking the acetone and cleaning up around my nails, I still had paint all around the skin around my nails and all of my cuticles. I’ve never had a manicure look so shoddy. My friend never even did get her manicure. And then came the time for me to pay. I was expecting $ 25×2 for the pedicures, $ 5 for the callous treatment and $ 15 for the one manicure(thanks to the lazy lady who felt her magazine was more important than her customer). She tried to charge me $ 10 extra… $ 5 per pedicure for the sugar scrub. We were never asked if we wanted the sugar scrub and I didn’t read the menu close enough to know if it came with it or not. I told her I wouldn’t pay the $ 5 since we weren’t asked or informed of the price differential. She told me the owner at Recess told us about the price. Oh really, were you there? There was no discussion on price at Recess only that she couldn’t accommodate us. She didn’t charge me the $ 10 but I thought it was a total scam to provide a service the customer didn’t ask for, that you didn’t disclose would cost extra and then assume I would pay it. No. Not okay. My manicure looked terrible and didn’t even last 24 hours before chipping due to how think she layered the lacquer. Neither my friend or I will ever be returning back to Le Château. Also, even though they say walk ins welcome, on a Saturday afternoon, they only had 1.5 people working and they turned away many customers that didn’t have appointments. Wow. perhaps you’d think one of only a handful of salons in such a tourist town such as Ashland would staff up on the weekends.

I am 45 years old and have been getting manicures and pedicures regularly since my early 20s. I stopped at this salon on my way through town last week and I feel obligated to warn people that this was the very worst mani-pedi I’ve ever received. The woman who tended to me was rude and she did a shoddy job. No soaking of cuticles, rough/chunky cutting of cuticles, even my nails weren’t filed symmetrically. The polish to both my fingernails and toe nails was thick and sloppy. I had to stop on my trip and buy polish remover to take the polish off of my hands before I reached my assignment/destination. This was the worst $ 50 I ever wasted. If you live in Ashland, or are traveling through, use another salon
