Plaza Salon and Spa

I just had my hair done for my wedding, along with the wedding party, and we had the most amazing experience. Mickie did my hair, not only for the wedding day, but a few weeks beforehand to do a cut and highlight and a «Run through» before the big day. That day was so amazing because we tried a couple different things and took pictures, and we decided what would work best with my hair. She even offered to do one more run through a week before the wedding because I was having second thoughts on what we had decided. She was so cool, fun, and truly cared about my satisfaction. And needless to say, she did a phenomenal on the day of. It was EXACTLY what I was hoping for, and better. The other girls did a great job on the other people in the wedding party. They were all very pleased, especially since that got to enjoy mimosas while they were there. So when you get engaged and you start making decisions about your wedding day hair (or nails, eyebrows, lashes, waxing, you name it), do yourself a favor and call Plaza Salon and ask for Mickie. Seriously. It’s worth the money.

Sadie and Renee did an outstanding job on the cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show — Live at the Armory. We don’t know what we would have done without their skill and amazing speed!
My Wife had her first haircut in two years from Sadie and it was exactly what we wanted.

Have run into scheduling errors here before but yesterday was the worst experience in customer service ever!!! I made an appointment days in advance for a side by side pedicure, and a manicure before that. I called to let them know I was running late for the manicure– I didn’t want them to feel the need to rush it, so I rescheduled the manicure for the following day, and CONFIRMED the 5:00 side by side pedicure. When we showed up, the receptionist was cold, dismissive and flat out RUDE, telling me that because I didn’t make the 4:15 appointment, they decided to take a walk in appointment instead, and DROPPED my side by side pedi… Despite that I had just confirmed that we would be there! They took it upon themselves to «punish me» for rescheduling the manicure! Unacceptable behavior in for a business that specializes in customer service! Not even an an attempt at an apology! I hope the owner, Kevin, fires those responsible for turning me, and my friend away from this business with the worst taste in our mouths. I am super disappointed. And so was my friend.
:(Needless to say, I had them take me off the books for the rescheduled appointment. Not sure if I will ever be back. What a bummer.
So– in Medford today, getting epic nail service elsewhere. Would rather be in Ashland– supporting a local neighbor. Wish I could have sent a more positive review.

I got a manicure and pedicure. While the manicure was good (nails), there was no little hand massaging. I have had about ten manicures all around the west coast in the last … five years? Every single place has given a little massage and lotion on the hands.
I then got a pedicure right after the mani and experienced the same problem! Although the nails were good, that was all she did — for 25 bucks!?? During every other pedicure I have received, my feet were exfoliated, I had lotion massaged into my calves, and I then had my feet placed under a blue light for them to dry completely before expecting me to leave.
Weird — have I just been totally spoiled in every other pedicure I have had? I don’t want to be sound spoiled or picky… but I have had my nails done in 5 + other places and I have always had some type of massage… and definitely exfoliating care on my feet.

Meh… I had been so excited when I originally scheduled a haircut at the Plaza Salon through their very convenient website system. I was thinking, «Wow, a place that really caters to the cyber culture!» But when I arrived, the receptionist was strangely cold and unresponsive when I told her of my appointment. She basically ignored me and left me standing at the check-​in desk while she wandered off. I thought, «Well, who really cares. It’s not like she’ll be cutting my hair.» I finally sat down in the lobby and waited. The vibe of the place was very hip. It was filled with hip workers, and they were playing hip music. It wasn’t long before someone (also very hip) came to get me for my appointment — except that it wasn’t even the person with whom I had scheduled the appointment. So much for the website. My stylist turned out to be as oddly quiet as the receptionist. I was like, what am I just not hip enough for this place? She spoke no more than 2 dozen words the entire time — and she absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. She tended to pull my hair while she cut it. Perhaps her shears weren’t sharpened? The final product (i.e., my haircut) was okay, but it was such a strange and unsettling experience I’m not eager to repeat it. These people are apparently just too cool for school.

My friend and I had side-​by-​side mani/​pedis to celebrate her birthday. First we were offered mimosas, which was a great start to the birthday! But more importantly, Kimmy and Mickie were wonderful! We added the milk & honey scrub enhancement, which was a luxurious $ 10 splurge to the basic $ 25 pedicure. The pedi was fantastic, our feet soaked in a jacuzzi and we sat in massage chairs — and the finished result looks fabulous. Then we got first-​class manicures — both services were finished in less than an hour. The technicians were on time, professional and fun. BTW, this was the third place that I called but the first one that had a real person answer the phone, which is why we booked there. We look forward to returning, and won’t wait for another birthday!

Great place! Pleasant and relaxed. Good services without the snootiness I’ve experienced in bigger cities. Kevin gives a great hair cut, and I’m becoming one of Kimmy’s pedicure regulars. She does a nice job! Try it out!

Just finished having a mani/​pedi with Kimmy. She was great and corrected the «sins» of my last manicure in Portland. Nails look great! Wish I could take her back home with me!

My feet always feel and look wonderful after I’ve been to the Plaza Salon for a pedicure with Alex. She does a very thorough job cleaning up my nails and the new polish always looks wonderful. She’s knowledgeable about skincare and always has a solution for problems I might be having. And besides doing such a good job she’s fun to chat with.

First time pedicure and it was pretty awesome! Kimmy did a wonderful side by side pedicure for me and a friend! I got a massage with it and it was amazing! It definitely makes me want to come back for another one! Thanks so much Kimmy!!!

Daniel gave my fiancé and I the best massage ever. He is absolutely professional and really knows what he is doing. He did the chair massage outside in the nice cool breeze. it was lovely. Best part of my day :)

The 5 stars are for Kimmy! A friend and I went in for pedicures. I’ll admit, when Kimmy said that she would be doing both our pedicures, while switching between us, I was a little hesitant. But, once she started I knew we were in good hands. She took great care and time with each of us. And, she was very friendly and personable. Also, she did the best paint job I’ve had in ages! It looks like glass! Will definitely go back for Kimmy!
The salon itself gets 4 stars, it needs a little love. Plus, the receptionist seemed put out by helping us when checking out. I felt like I should have apologized to her before leaving for bothering her.

One of the worst pedicures I’ve ever gotten, and it took 90 minutes when it should have taken 45.
Terri, my pedicurist, was very nice & apologetic, and gave me $ 15 off as compensation, but Plaza’s flawed on-​line appointment system, broken (?) spa chair & untrained receptionist caused a series of cockups that made the whole experience a complete fiasco:
1) I booked a 9am appointment online early this AM, because my bf & I wanted to start driving back to Oakland at 10am. But the system didnt tell Terri that someone had booked a 9am with her, so she rolled in at 9:10 thinking her first appointment wasnt until 10. WHY HAVE AN ONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM THAT LETS YOUR CUSTOMERS THINK THEY CAN BOOK A 9AM SAME-​DAY IF THEY CAN’T?
2) We had barely started soaking my feet at 9:25 when the spa chair tub started leaking, so Terri had to stop working on me to mop up the floor, try to figure out what was going on, & rinse out another tub in case we needed to move. The receptionist never came over to help, even though there was nobody else in the salon.
3) AFTER putting on 2 coats of my chosen polish & top coat, at 10:10, Terri realizes it’s a gel polish, which requires drying between coats (and costs more). The receptionist, who saw me choose the color from the gel shelf — which is in a completely different part of the salon from the regular polish (but not labelled as such, or not that I notices) — never said anything to me or Terri about it being a gel. So now Terri has to remove the top coat, put my feet in a dryer (which only does 1 at a time), then reapply the top coat.
Finally, at 10:30, I’m done. When I get to the car where my bf’s waiting (patiently, bless his heart), I look at my feet & see that my heels are still cracked & my nails are still filthy from camping & wearing flip-​flops all week, WHICH IS WHY I WANTED THE PEDICURE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I could have done a better job cleaning & scrubbing my feet at home. And the polish job is pretty rough: you can see a large area of my left pinkie nail was left unpainted.
Will the gel coat last longer, like it’s supposed to? Or will it come off sooner because it wasn’t dried between coats? Who knows? What I do know is that I won’t be going back to Plaza to get my nails done.

Kimmy is amazing! It was my first time getting a shallac’d manicure and she did a gorgeous job. Besides her talent, she was so chill and conversational. Thanks Kimmy! I love my nails and I am hooked :)

I have been going to the Plaza Salon for several years… it’s close to home and it’s a local business. Alex has been my regular go-​to nail technician and she’s GREAT! When she is not available, Stormy and Tera are also very good with mani/​pedi appointments. I especially like being able to make an appointment online via their website, since I always manage to decide I need an appointment after hours. I also recommend the salon to guests at my inn needing a quick mani/​pedi during their vacation to Ashland.

I just had my nails done by Kimmy at the Plaza Salon and Spa and it was a great experience.
Kimmy was personable, helpful, friendly and completely professional. I will use her again and the Spa in general. It was also easy to get the time I wanted without having to wait for a week to get an appointment.
I highly recommend Plaza Salon and Kimmy for your nail needs.

My sister and I got shellac manicures and Alex did a wonderful job. She’s an expert at putting the shellac on evenly, cleanly, and with no bubbles. She also gave me great advice about how to keep my nails healthy, since I’ve had some trouble since becoming addicted to shellac. Our mani had no hand massage or lotion at the end, which I always enjoy, but overall it was good and reasonably priced.
Only unusual thing was that one person did my sister and I at the same time. She used separate tools for each of us and it was great to be able to chat with my sister but I’ve never had one person do two manicures simultaneously. Props to her for multi-​tasking! I should mention that I called last minute to schedule two manicures, so it’s totally possible they were doing us a favor by squeezing us in and that’s not their normal business practice.
Anyways! Alex did a beautiful job and I’m confident my nails won’t chip for a while. I look forward to going back next time I’m in town!

I’ve gone to the Salon to get my haircut by Troy Brown — which was fabulous, a great massage by the comforting and generous David Smith, and to get my nails done– which I’ve had several great experiences (my go-​to being Alex). I’ve had other employees do my nails at the salon and not had the best results, but Alex is efficient and thorough!
There’s not many great options for getting nails done in Ashland or Medford, so overall I feel really lucky to have found awesome service and wonderful results at the Plaza.

After living in Ashland for 16 years I have finally found my spot! The Plaza Salon offers a great value on hair cutting, styling, and coloring. I have been completely happy with every salon experience I have had. It is truly wonderful to have a great salon to go to that won’t shove their products down your throat and to be helped by stylists who are knowledgeable about your hair.
While the nail area is slightly exposed, Mickie and Alex are WONDERFUL nail techs. Mickie is sweet and meticulous with cuticles and Alex knows just about all there is to know about nails and nail care.
Can’t wait for my massage here next month!

The most relaxing spa experience I have ever had!
I got a mani/​pedi with a few extras and it was so worth it. 2 hours here and I was so relaxed, I was ready for a long nap!
Everyone here is so accommodating and professional, and they offer tons of awesome add-​on goodies and a great selection of polish choices.
I’m very excited to have found a place that takes good care of their clients.
