The Family Pet Hospital

This morning I went to Family Pet Hospital and after leaving I am still so impressed with how friendly, professional, and well-​informed the veterinarians and staff were. I had to go in with my pet hedgehog, Talula, to take a look at a small mass that was in her mouth. I saw Dr. Warner, who was very patient trying to take a look at the problem and informed me about all of the possible ailments. I also noticed that the front desk staff always greeted the people that came in and acknowledged the pets by their name right away. They actually seemed to have a genuine interest in animals and were nothing short of enthusiastic/​kind. Overall, I was so impressed with how professional and inviting this place was and the interest everyone took in Talula’s welfare. In the future I wouldn’t hesitate coming back, and I would definitely recommend the Family Pet Hospital to anyone that needs to bring their pets in (especially exotic pets).

They just opened an attached day care/​boarding facility and we are impressed with that as well. In fact, when I drop my dog off, they do a quick check to make sure she has no fleas, injuries, or any outstanding issues — that goes above and beyond any experience I have had at other day cares in the area and helps contribute to the very positive experience we always have!

I love when I go in and the folks at the desk remember who we are. I switched over from a big practice where I just felt like a number even though the care was good. I never feel rushed and know that if I have any questions or concerns they will always take my call or even call me back after hours if I have a need.

Best place ever. They are all so helpful and kind to my animals. Love dr. bodkin! She is always so calm and loving to all of my Four-​legged children. They also have wonderful yearly plans that saves lots of $. Love them!

I’ve referred the family pet hospital and Doctor Cris multiple times and heard nothing but great things. One consistent piece of feedback that I regularly hear back is that customers feel that they take a personal interest in their pets as though they are their own. Keep up the great work!

One would think that most vets are animal lovers but not always true. Some greet and treat there customers. Not Dr. Valas. She is not only an expert in her field but she truly and passionately loves her clients. Dr. Valas did a fabulous job cleaning our dogs teeth without general anesthesia at a fraction of the cost quoted by other vets.

I have been taking my cats to Dr. Valas for the past 16 years. I believe I was one of Dr. Valas’ first clients when she opened up the Family Pet Hospital in Ashland. I had just moved to the area and happily found this wonderful and caring veterinarian within minutes of my home. Dr. Valas is a very compassionate and empathetic vet… in other words, every wonderful quality you would want in someone you entrust to take care of your pets. I would highly recommend Dr. Valas and her wonderful team to anyone. I feel that she has always delivered the very best treatment to all of my «babies»…from Rusty, Emma, Fred & Jamie to my current felines: Reggie, Tommy & Stewie!

Disclaimer: Dr. Valas is a dear friend of mine and we have known each other for years. That being said, when it comes to my fur-​babies, I don’t care WHO you are… my babies deserve the best care and so family and friends play no role in where I take them to. My elderly dog Max and my two young cats Puma and Boots have been under her care for over two years and are doing great. Max is a 14 y.o. Pekingese and while he faces some senior issues (breed-​inherent eye issues and arthritis in his hips) he is in good health. FPH’s pricing for animal care is reasonable and they are sensitive to owners like myself who want to give pets long, healthy lives but also have other, more pressing, financial concerns (such as my human family members). Years ago I had to put down my cat Khadija. Dr. Valas and her staff were so gentle and kind it made the experience bearable. When choosing a doctor for your animal loved one, understand that the Dr’s experience and honesty must come first, though with FPH you will receive, in addition, loving care.

I have had dogs and cats for over 50 years, and even worked in an animal hospital for 5 years. I wish I had known The Family Pet years earlier, for I have experienced nothing but superb and genuine care. The word «Family» is perfect to describe the amazing care they share. Not only just for your pets, but yourself as well. Dr. Valas amazes me on how quickly she can find the underlying cause of the cause of an illness, and knows exactly what to do to remedy. Some times there is no cure, but allows your pet and you savor the last moments with true compassion. Her staff is equally as genuine and compassionate sharing outstanding service with a smile. Some of the above and beyond services are ²⁴⁄₇ emergency and the use of laser for surgery and other procedures, which allows far less trauma, bleeding and faster recovery. There are larger facilities with more staff, but my experience has not been as intimate or as genuine in care as you receive at The Family Pet Hospital!
