Azul Laundromat

This is the worst laundromat in Astoria. AVOID THIS PLACE. The woman who owns it is so rude to her customers (even loyal ones who have been going there for 7 years?!). My things were ripped out of the dryer and left wet on the floor BY THE MANAGER… Never again.

I have been going to this laundromat for seven years. The prices are reasonable. The lady who works mornings is so kind and helpful. I really appreciate her friendly small talk and kindness. The lady that works days and night is horrible. God forbid that you don’t do your laundry «her way.» My husband decided to be helpful and wash our laundry. He put too many things in the dryer and I guess sometime between him leaving and me getting there to pick it up, the dryer door had opened. All of our clothes were laying wet and all over the place. When I asked her what happened she screamed at me for 5 minutes about putting too much in. I calmly explained to her that It wasn’t me that had done it and that I would spread them out and she just kept screaming at me. I said «I understand» while she screamed «you understand nothing.» This happened over and over. I had to get my husband to go back over because I was so shocked and upset. My husband calmly went to talk to her and told her we’d been going there, ever week, for 7 years and that she even knew his name. He said he couldn’t believe that she would talk to me like that. He said that he realized he put too many clothes in and that he doesn’t expect all his money back that the machine ate, but that she needed to be nicer to their loyal customers. She just screamed «What do you want me to do about it?» And he said that it was a shame and took our wet clothes to the laundromat one block away.
In my experience with her, you have to interrupt her politely to ask her to weigh your clothes or for change. I spilled some powder on the machine and she brought me over a broom and told me to clean it. I was appalled. Very unprofessional and very hostile. Her confidence comes from some of the neighborhood knowing her. There are five other laundromat in a four block radius. We will now be taking our business elsewhere.

They open until 10pm which is great!
Drop off is super convenient too for a great price in the neighborhood.

I don’t get all this not so good reviewers!? what do they expect from laundromat? free service? complimentary delivery of your clothes to your door ?
You come, you pay, you do your own laundry and stop making non-​sense with your complains, please!!!

This is the worst laundromat in Astoria and quite possibly the world.
I one time left a nice bookbag in the machine on a sunday night (pretty much when nobodys there anymore) forgot it, and came back the next morning and it was gone. Usually clothes left overnight find their way to the lost-​and-​found buckets and you’ll usually see a pair of pants or loose undies in there — but if you leave a nice item like this northface bookbag was, rest assured you’ll never see it again. I know the lady keeps the good stuff and I could see it on her face while she played dumb. It’s my own fault but it’s still disappointing — my forgotten clothes aren’t her donation bin.
The worst thing of all and the reason you should take a minute or two to walk the extra block is because there is a near ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of you coming back to pick up your clothes from the dryer only to find that the machine barely works and all of your clothes are still damp. What can be more annoying than having to make four total trips? Try the customer service.
I have to pull teeth with the latina lady to give me quarters to try a different machine. She always acts like shes doing me a favor. Sometimes she puts quarters right in the broken machine as if the result would be different. Just today she gave me advice on making sure to touch the machines before I put clothes in «to make sure they work» (I went at 10am so none of them were warm yet — its basically a gamble if you go early).
I have hated this place forever for the time-​suck/​customer service and I finally needed to write this review. Most people will go to their closest location like I have w/​this place for a while but I finally switched to 34^th and 32^nd st — no issues there at all. Its an extra 5 mins walk but i think of the walk as insurance from the possible double-​trip/​bitchy service.
PS — if you leave your clothes for the service, when they pull em out of the dryer they don’t take care and much of your stuff will hit the floor. Seen it many many times. Not cool and especially on a precip day like today when the floors are full of tracked nasty grey water.
P.P.S — F this place forever

It takes a lot for me to write a bad review, so please read on! This all happened last Fall but I have been so angry that I didnt even want to look at their place on Unilocal until now. Seeing all of the bags of laundry people drop off when I walk by made me feel that I wish I had read a review like this before I dropped my clothing off.
My husband and I had been dropping our laundry off here for a few months. We always sent a significant amount of clothing weekly so I never really kept track of what I sent. We received articles of clothing twice that was not ours and the first time the woman told me to throw it in the lost and found bin!!! I was mortified because it was their mistake and they wanted me to throw it in a bin above the washers where people put clothing they find while doing their own laundry at the shop. That is certainly not a safe way to deal with a mistake that they made and I insisted that they put it somewhere safe in case the person returned for their clothing.
In our next drop off I realized that I had not received a pair of black workout pants I was waiting to wear when our laundry returned. When I went back to tell the PM attendant she said that she was not the one to wash my clothing (not sure how she would know which night the load I was referencing was from) I asked if they has a lost item area (since I knew I had returned people’s clothing that did not belong to me recently) and she told me to look in the bin but then reached in a drawer and pulled out a pair of pants that fit my description. To my disappointed surprise it was ANOTHER pair of Cache brand black leggings that belonged to me that I had not realized I lost!!! I was extremely upset and left a note for the other lady asking about the pants I actually came for.
My husband and I foolishly gave the laundromat one more chance that very week just because the location was so convenient and I thought that knowing that we had just complained would make them more careful. That very week THEY LOST MY FAVORITE SHIRT!!! I just cant make this up, I returned and it was the other PM lady and I explained what happened. She told me the same thing, that she didnt wash our laundry. I insisted on getting the owners number, which she gave me, but no one ever answered. Both women were completely unapologetic and when I went home to look through my clothing I realized that I was missing more clothing than just the ones I initially noticed.
The articles they lost were black and grey Eileen Fisher leggings, I used to have a lot of pairs and since using Azul I have just one pair in black!!! The shirt that they lost was a brown halter.
Please do yourself a favor and walk a block further to the laundromat on 34^th st and 35^th avenue like we do now if you are going to drop off your laundry!!!

If I could give this place negative points, I would. I have been coming here for awhile and I have had good days and bad days but today was the last straw. I was able to overlook the fact that it is dirty, half and the machines are broken, and your clothes are at risk of staining after god know what was in the machines before you. Standard fair for a laundromat. The people who work here and generally pretty nice, but I don’t know what was wrong with the person today.
I put my clothes in the dryer for 50 minutes and when I opened it up the clothes were still completely wet. When I told the attendant, she first called me a liar and then proceeded to ignore me. When I told her I wanted to speak with her supervisor, she still ignored me until I finally would not walk away. Then when she finally called him, the supervisor basically didn’t believe me either saying that all the machines work just fine. This place really has the worst customer service and I will never come here again. I recommend you do the same. There are plenty of other places in the area.

I have been coming here for over a year and have never had a problem with them. They are very reliable and I always get my clothes without problems, no lost socks here! The people there are always friendly and they have many machines available.
