Jose Manuel is the best! He worked with me to design and make my wedding dress and cape. He sources the best materials and payed good attention to detail. He gave me what I wanted with his expert input. He organized several fittings and was always in touch, communication was excellent! A hidden gem in Astoria! Definitely worth a visit if you need something making.

I won’t get tired of telling you how thankful I am for all your beautiful work you are amazing. I loved everything from my dress to my decorations thank you a million.

Jose is the best! Jose went above and beyond what I expected and was extremely patient and reliable all throughout the fittings. My dress fits perfectly now and he had it completed on time, even though this was a complicated one (it’s lace, so doing the hem and neckline required a lot of detailed work). The in-​house seamstress at the place where I bought the dress would have charged at least twice as much and I know Jose’s work was as good if not better than anything they would have done. I highly recommend Jose Manuel, you will not be disappointed.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jose Manuel and his right hand seamstress (whose name escapes me right now)! After going to over 4 different seamstresses (all of whom had raving reviews on Unilocal) to have my wedding dress altered, I can honestly say Jose’s eyes and skills were far above the rest. Literally ONE WEEK before I had to leave for my destination wedding, I took a chance on him after randomly finding his name somewhere on a wedding forum to see if he could do some major construction work, as the work done by 2 previous seamstresses just did not quite cut it. Imagine how panicked I was, knowing that it took my previous seamstress 4 months to get this work done, and here I am 1 WEEK in need of a complete overhaul of her work. Mind you, the first seamstress I went to was way too expensive for me and the second straight up said the alternations couldn’t be done, and third one tried but failed… which lead me to the 4^th seamstress. I had so carefully and diligently researched all of them too. So now, I really thought it was impossible to get anything done at this point, but I thought I had nothing to lose at that point and paid his store a visit. When I first went in, I was kind of thrown off by some of the clutter in his tiny shop and began second guessing myself. But don’t judge a book by its cover bcs OMG, Jose and his seamstress literally deconstructed and reconstructed my wedding dress in about 2 – 3 DAYS!!! Ladies, you read that right — I said DAYS!!! Of course he was swamped with work at the time, full of prom dresses and other gowns, but I supposed he put me on the «urgent list», given that I was going to fly out in a week. It took him and his seamstress 2 – 3 days what it took my other seamstress 4 months (to not be able to do). And when I went back in the day before my flight for touchups, his seamstress literally fixed everything right in front of my eyes in a matter of minutes, as I watched her tighten up my sweetheart neckline to eliminate any gaps and adjust the silhouette. They are literally MAGICIANS. I have never been so impressed with a store’s customer service, skills, craftsmanship, and love for their work. He was so helpful and accommodating, allowing me to come at all hours. He really tried all that he could for me, and it was just so apparent. Given all the stresses you could imagine having a week before the wedding, I think I literally cried for joy. After the first round of alterations, I had to go back with gifts for them — that’s how appreciative I was! Words cannot express how grateful I am to them and how he saved my wedding. They totally know what they are doing. And the best part of all this… their prices are super duper reasonable! Had I discovered them before the previous seamstress I went to, I would have saved a lot of money. Their quote to me was better than the previous 4 AND they did SO MUCH MORE WORK! My only regret is that I didn’t go to them sooner. I have posted a before and after pic for your amusement. If you have any other questions about them, please feel free to contact me. He has now done 2 of my pageant 2^nd cousin’s dresses. And he’s making here evening gown this year. I’m trying to convince my soon to be sister in law to have her wedding dress made by Jose Manuel. I love him. Impeccable service!
