Clean waiting room and facilities; saw me within 30 minutes of my appointment time; kind and knowledgeable doctor. The only thing that sucked is the unhappiness of their staff. They were nice to me but it was apparent they are under paid and I can’t give 5 stars to a business that might be taking advantage of their employees.

Wish there was a zero star option. No sense of professionalism and telephone manners. The staff seems to be very busy with their own lives during work hours. The doctor needs a new and trained staff that knows customer service!

I came to try it out here because it is close by where I live. And I completely regretted it :(the doctor who saw me was very nice and professional, I just had a hard time with the receptionist. When I walked in, the receptionists were talking to each other, not knowing I was there. I introduced myself and told them the reason for my visit, then I got this cold finger pointing to a chair, as the receptionist told me «have a seat there» without making eye contact with me, and then went back to her gossip. Uh-​hum! I’m your customer, I pay you to be here, don’t I deserve a smile or a greeting? Is it so hard to acknowledge your customer’s existence? Aside from the whole service provider– customer relationship, isn’t it just standard mannerism to address the person you are talking to with respect? Even though my experience with the doctor was rather okay, my experience with the receptionist really got my day off on a bad start:(For a business who does not hire the right people to keep the front door open, I give it a 2 star!

The only reason I decided to go to Clearview Ophthalmology in the first place was because they accepted my insurance provider. I thought that the two positive reviews here on Unilocal meant that it would go smoothly. It did not.
First and foremost, the main eye doctor there has horrible hours. I arrived around 9:30 for my appointment (the earliest I could get — great for those of us who work regular hours) and the guy waltzes in around 10:30 or so. I don’t think I saw him until 11:00 or 11:15, only to find out that he doesn’t do contact lens prescriptions, only eye glasses. Now, this may have partially been my fault because when I originally called I assumed whoever I saw would be able to write me the prescription and therefore only asked for a routine eye exam. Still, nobody thought to ask me the reason for my visit during the hour and a half that I sat around waiting to see the doctor?
Since the contact lens doctor was not in on that day, and I had already paid them for my visit, it was agreed that what I paid that day would go towards my next visit, when the correct doctor was in. I made an appointment for the following week.
The next week, I receive a phone call a day or two before my appointment, confirming the day and time. Great! So today I walk back down there for the second time, and what does the receptionist tell me? The contact lens doctor isn’t in today, even though she typically is in on Fridays. My response was, «Why didn’t anybody think to call me and tell me this, before I walked all the way down here?» No response. I told the receptionist that I wanted my money back and that I was going somewhere else, to which she said the manager would have to do the refund and she’s not in for another hour or so.
When I called back I spoke to the manager and she told me that the charge would be refunded to my card that day or the next morning. Well, the next morning came and went and still no refund. When I tried to call (Saturday, 11:45am) I went through the prerecorded menu and eventually ended up at a message saying that they were closed. Well, they’re website says they’re open 10 – 1 on Saturdays sooo…
Who knows if I’ll ever get my money back from these people. The point is, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE if at all possible. Avoid these idiots like the plague.

I was referred here by Mt. Sinai Queens after an Emergency room visit due to an accident with my left eye and was told to go to a specialist.
DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE!!! I had a horrendous experience. My appointment was at 10:00AM. I arrived at their storefront at 9:50, tried their door and it was open. I know that I was 7 minutes early, so I respectfully asked if I could come in. I was waved off to sit down and wait, so I thought my being early was not a problem. After a few minutes I approached the front desk just to let them know that I had shown up for my appointment. The receptionist Christina, rudely interrupted me and said that they were not open for another ten minutes so I had to wait. So I sat back down already perplexed.
When I was finally called I was asked to fill out some forms and present my insurance cards, which I did. The other receptionist could not figure out which of my insurance to use, since I had two. While they were checking my insurance the two ladies were also eating breakfast pastries and chatting loudly about Donna Summer. After half an hour of waiting, I walked up to the desk, and just told them to pick one insurance company so that I could get on with my day. They finally did, I paid up, and was finally taken to an exam room.
In the exam room, I was asked the same questions that were already answered on their form TWICE!!! Christina put drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils, without putting any gloves on, this was the same receptionist who ate with her fingers a few minutes earlier, and did not even have the courtesy to warn me that they would sting badly. I finally got to see the doctor at 10:45.
This physician was not the one I had originally booked my appointment for, it was another doctor that worked in the clinic. By this time I was already upset and just wanted to get the examination over and done with. More drops were put in, and she only explained AFTER that one would numb my eyes, while the other would blur my vision. I was also going to have blurred vision for the next 4 hours or so, which she only explained after I asked how long before it wears off.
I walked out of there barely able to see, and feeling a little disoriented. I did not bother booking my follow-​up appointment. Such a horrific experience. If they ever reply to this post, don’t believe anything they say. Take your money and business elsewhere.
