Their desserts are really good! Better than Marthas I shall say! I go there all the time, the best in Astoria. The only problem is that they are pricy, almost every restaurant in Astoria orders dessert from this place — one reason it’s number #1

An old fashioned remnant of Italian Astoria, I only tried cannolis. I would say they are good but not great. The ricotta filling is on the sweeter side of things, additionally the texture is a bit heavy. However, the shell is crunchy enough considering that these are prefilled. I only came here because I wanted something sweet after the Sorriso pork store across the street — which, incidentally, is top-notch.

Their grandma’s cake is the best! Not too sweet but have lots of flavor and freshly baked! Love this bakery :)

Listen: I hope that despite the neighborhood flipping to gentry faster than a speeding beard kombucha train, that this place NEVERCHANGES! You want fancy decoration? Go to Soho bruh-this is about the COFFEE and the FOOD, both of which kick ass. Buy bread early(common sense in NYC especially when it’s non Gmo and no preservatives duh), get yourself a whole wheat croissant, a Lavazza cappuccino and relax. Hey: don’t be intimidated by the people outside they’re YOURNEIGHBORS! Foreign concept for Astoria newcomers I know, but ask a name say good morning and look up from your Tindr app you just might you know, make friends AND have a killer cannoli foodie spot! End game: amazing old school cookies, coffee and heart.

This is an old-fashioned bakery, the type that seem seem to be vanishing all over the city. Really good butter cookies with a wide variety of choices that changes daily. Breads are fresh and tasty. Cakes, pastries and tarts are on the moderate price side and are all good. It seems a lot of people come in for the coffee and cappuccino. Never had it so I can’t say. Having a few tables makes it convenient if you want to sit down and relax to eat your fresh baked goods. 5 *‘s because I hope they remain around for a long time.

Stopped by after having lunch at a nearby restaurant and wanting desert. Place was packed, which is always a good sign. Ordered a cheesecake, some pastries and a cappuccino. Cheesecake was OK, not my favorite I’ve had. Pastries were really good. My wife said the coffee was good as well but not strong enough(light roast), but that’s a preference obviously. Overall a good bakery. We would go back if in town again.

If you’re gonna break the diet, for the love of god do it here. Round Bread is called pane di casa, it’s immediately to the right and up on the bread shelves as you walk in. Sit down with a whole wheat croissant(better than you think) and cappuccino and read a book while you’re at it. Or fatten up on dunkers(under the cash register) or chocolate covered cannoli. They also toast rolls with butter and jam. Another favorite. The rolls are on the middle shelf up and to the left of the bread slicer. If you order bread, have them slice it there instead of doing it at home. Makes better pieces that way. Come back the next day and get what you wish you got the first day but didn’t because you were trying not to be a fat pig by eating everything in delicious sight.

After my husband got me some deep strawberries for Mother’s Day, I wanted to come to the shop personally because the strawberries where pretty good and fresh. Well… what a disappointment, The staff wasn’t welcoming and when asking the girl that was serving us her suggestion she was in a rush for me to pick and go, at the end I got a Napoleon and cookies for my daughter. The cookies were ok and the Napoleon stayed in my fridge for like a week before throwing it out. I even forgot I got it, had such a bad taste after that awful customer service, Giving it two stars because my Mother’s Day strawberries were delicious.

Average bakery nothing special. I have tried numerous pastries from Napoleons, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Lemon Drops, Fruit Tarts etc… Everything has been either average or below average . The décor needs updating. The Customer Service needs some grooming as well. The bakery offers a Large seating area outside with shade, a definite plus.

What a unique bakery! While walking back to the train after dinner we see this bakery still open. There were no less than 10 men sitting out front enjoying themselves. We decide to stop in for a quick latte to take with us while we were walking. The bakery was full of awesome looking baked goodies and breads. While the latte’s were less than stellar the almond biscotti that we also took with us was amazing! Tasted just like we had in Florence years ago. Wasn’t the cheapest little bakery but then again you get what you pay for. We had 2 large lattes at $ 4 a piece and ordered 12 of the small almond biscotti. Total price was $ 17. The blonde woman who assisted us couldn’t have been any nicer. She had a smile on her face from start to finish. I was please to leave a tip in the jar as she truly deserved it.

This is an awesome bakery. The closest one to my house and I’m lucky to say they offer some great sweets, and amazing breads. I always buy my bread here and if I’m heading to a party I buy my desserts from here as well. There’s a homely feeling to the place. The ladies that work here are always pleasant. The place is nice and clean. Everyone looks happy to be here. There’s also seats outside to enjoy your coffee/sweets. Many customers do take advantage of the seating in the summer!

Best cassatas in town! The brownies, bread(pane di casa is what I usually get), and espresso are wonderful too. The ladies who work here are absolutely the best, and the owners are very friendly. They have outdoor seating you can take advantage of when the weather is nice. One of my favorite places.

Mini cannoli crust was very bland and softened from sitting out cream-filled. The filling was thick, creamy and smooth but nothing special taste wise. The mini éclair pastry was also very bland, though I feel like I shouldn’t have had high expectations ordering French pastry from an Italian bakery. I didn’t even finish the mini cheesecake I bought, it was so dry and I could barely taste the blueberry in it. The big positive is that it’s very affordable, downright cheap. All of the above was roughly $ 5. The cheesecake slice my friend bought was also pretty good, way better than anything I got myself. I’m just not sure why all the rave reviews. There are so many great Italian bakeries and even delis that have better Italian desserts than this if you go out to Corona, Middle Village/Glendale/Ridgewood areas, or the city for that matter. Maybe I came on an off day?

I would like to start with the positives, and that this place has great pignoli cookies. I have been here several of times and procured pignolis on several of occasions and they have been great. My wife and I came here tonight to pick up some cookies and decided to try some other options that we haven’t tried before, such as chocolate cookies and lemon drops. The other cookies for the most part, were not that good. In that we threw them away. This place is really hit or miss, and we come here a bit frequently because it is the nearest bakery. However, the bread is not that good and as I mentioned before the desserts are nothing special. It’s a shame because I want to give this place a higher rating because the people are kind and the place is clean, also it is clearly a popular hangout spot for people. However, it is just not that good.

Cannoli w/sicilian cannoli cream & candied orange peel was a nice rendition. Restrooms in back, tables inside & out but goons near benches and at al fresco tables as others mentioned.

When Frank’s Bakery closed earlier this year,(after 50 years in business,) I found this gem of an Italian bakery. The cannoli are fresh and amazing, and their rainbow cookies are moist and delicious! This will be my new stop whenever I’m in Astoria.(PS: This is the first cannoli that my very picky kid actually enjoyed, so it’s GOT to be good!)

Best cannoli I think I have ever had seriously — not citrusy, sweet, rich creamy ricotta! Delicious! The shell is fresh and not greasy. A definite winner in my book. Family owned, friendly, inexpensive and high quality!

Dude. Gian Piero. heart. This place is an awesome, casual neighborhood bakery that does treats and coffee right. No frills and none of that pretentious air or attitude. No drinks with names you can’t pronounce. Just straight up hot drip coffee or espresso drinks made on a machine that’s expensive enough to cover my rent for a few months. At least. Between all of the cookies, cakes, cheesecakes, and cannolis I’ve ordered from here, I think I’m qualified enough to say that pretty much everything made here is delicious. The cookies have that perfect airiness and crumble that you would expect from an Italian bakery. The cannolis always taste fresh and the shell always crispy. The strawberry cheesecake slices and not only creamy, smooth, and indulgent, but a great price! 2.75/slice is unbeatable in NYC. I’ve seen Duane Reades in Manhattan sell smaller slices in disturbing, heat-sealed containers for more money. Yikes. Speaking of, the greatest point to appreciate about Gian Piero is the affordable price for all of the items here. I tend to come in wanting just a cannoli, but walk out of the place with a bag or three of various additional treats. Once you start ordering something you want, it’s kind of hard to stop when something else catches your eye. Usually it goes: «I’ll take one of these. And a chocolate chip cookie. And two non-pereils. You know what? Can you add this cherry one? Yeah, that’s it. Wait, is that jelly in the middle of that? Uh, two of those please.» I walk out looking at my bags thinking, «Damn, what happened??» But somehow, my total always comes out to less than $ 6! Whew. The service here is very, very attentive. I challenge you to come in and wait more than 10 seconds without hearing, «Can I help you?» The girls here are friendly and quick, which is appreciated. Even late at night, the coffee here is fresh so as to appease the group of older European men who like to hang out here and complain about their wives. It’s great. PS. Their Irish soda bread is bangin’. I anticipate St. Paddy’s Day every year just for this stuff.
