Jimmy’s Cleaners

This is my new tailor for life. I stopped in a cleaners closer to my apartment on a Wednesday around 6 p.m. and was told the tailor would be in the next day. When I went back Thursday at 6 p.m., the woman told me the tailor was only in until 5 p.m. Would have been good to know that on Wednesday so I could have made alternate plans. I frantically searched Unilocal looking for a tailor that might be open and able to alter a dress I needed on Saturday, and found Jimmy’s Cleaners. I called up, and the woman who answered the phone told me if I could get my dress to them within 20 minutes, they could have it ready by Saturday. I sped-​walked over and was greeted by very friendly folks. I put on the dress and the tailor marked it, all within about five minutes. When I came back on Saturday, it was ready to go and looked just beautiful. The price is right and the service is fantastic. I highly recommend Jimmy’s Cleaners.

Every time I walk into Jimmy’s Cleaners it reminds me of why I love living in Astoria. Georgia greets me by name, we banter about what we’re up to, upcoming vacations etc. They do an amazing job cleaning my shirts (NO STARCH!) at a very fair price. All of that with a local, family feel. Doesn’t get any better than this. If they can’t do it they’ll send you to someone who can. Georgia put me in touch with an awesome shoe repair guy.
I can’t say enough good things about Jimmy’s. They’ll jump through hoops for you like come out to your car to pick up your stuff if you’re double parked. Always going the extra mile!

They sew, they stitch, they tailor, they dry clean, they take credit card! The simple things are most most appreciated when you’re backed into a corner, and Jimmy was there to lend a helping hand. I’ve needed some jacket and pants repairs for quite some time, and when Jimmy said «oh yeah, we can do that»… I was willing to pay any price for a moment due to the adulation I felt after hearing those words.
Good rates, a variety of services, convenient location (for me)… this place has everything you could want from your neighborhood cleaner/​tailor.
