Consistently good and they deliver to my office! I love the sushi-​try any dragon roll. I also obsess over the Salmon Teryaki — its pretty perfect. And I love the little mushrooms they add to the miso soup-​def check it out for yourself or order and have them deliver through Unilocal-that’s how I like to do it lol.

Eh this place is okay. I used seamless to order and definitely dont think I got my bang for the buck. The portions are small and the prices are big! Also, their packing and utensils and napkins, pretty much everything was lacking for delivery.
I won’t be ordering from here again. learned my lesson!

I ordered for delivery from seamless. They charge you $ 3 for delivery. And they were late on food.
I saw a picture from another person that said they found hair in their food. How did I not see that as a warning sign??? And of course I found hair in one of the rolls. It looked like pubic hair. I immediately lost my appetite. I’m glad I found it during the beginning of my meal. Just thinking about it makes me want to puke.
Couldn’t eat the rest of my meal, cuz the hands that touched that sushi that had (pubic?) hair probably also touched my other rolls.
Will never order from here again. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

**Please note** I’ve only ordered with a group from my office for delivery, so my review is based on a group (larger) orders. Prices are fair, especially if you jump take advantage of the lunch special. Delivery times will vary depending on the time of day you order and the weather… but that is standard with most delivery.
Some of the items I’ve ordered include the sashimi lunch special & 3 roll combo (spicy tuna, philadelphia roll, and salmon avocado) as well as the salmon teriyaki combos.
As for the food, I find the quality to be inconsistent. Some days, the food is awesome and others the food seems like it’s from a different restaurant.
Please note that the menu does say you’re supposed to get free items past certain dollar amounts, but we have to call and remind/​ask for the freebies.

I am a regular customer here and they are fantastic. Always have the food ready within the time noted on the Seamless estimate and it is fresh and tastes great. I personally love the spicy crabmeat roll and the spicy tuna roll. The prices are very fair and cheaper than most other places around which keeps me going back.

I order delivery from here allll the time. Nabeyaki udon is my go to. Wish it was cheaper tho. But the broth and the veges… SO GOOD. The chicken katsu curry is good too. Their rolls are huge and always fresh. I dined here couple days ago and it was clean, was surprised by how small it was but the food was on point as usual so no complaints!

Kumo is our go-​to neighborhood restaurant. The owners are so nice and accommodating, and the food quality is good, too. Most people order takeout and the restaurant is usually empty, but this is also a great, unintimidating place for us to bring our two kids. They don’t mind my toddler making a lot of noise, and will always offer him things to make his experience more enjoyable. In August, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner party here with 14 people. The food presentation and quality was great, and most importantly, they gave us the entire restaurant and let us stay as long as we wanted. Thank you, Kumo!

We ordered in and it took over an hour for delivery. during non-​busy hours. it’s fine, it happens.
They got my orders wrong. I paid extra for each rice to be replaced with brown rice. They put white rice. okay. I’ll just let them know and they can refund me extra money I paid. BUT this…
I found HAIR IN MY FOOD!!!
Black hair. that was really in there with broccolies and eggs! So freaking gross!!! I started gagging after seeing the hair! I already had few bites of the food before finding the hair! So I went to bathroom to throw up. My throat still hurts from forcing myself throwing up!!!
We ordered 3 dishes from this place but after I found the hair, we lost our appetite and just put everything in the trash.
The restaurant refunded the one dish that had hair in.
I’m never gonna order from here again!

I’ve been coming here for the past few years because their prices are very reasonable, they give generous portions and provide fast service. I’ve taken out and dined in without ever being disappointed by the service or quality of food.
While it’s location is out of the way, I recommend making the trek. It’s rarely so crowded that you can’t get a seat.
Their lunch and dinner specials are a steal!

I’m an expert on under $ 10 sushi lunch specials and I haven’t found one that tastes better than kumos! If you love sushi and don’t care about décor or spending lots of money, kumos is your place.

My coworker introduced me to this place. This is my go-​to place near work for Japanese food. I like everything, but they are a little inconsistent with their curry. I have sat in here a couple times with my boyfriend. It is small and does not seem to cater to large groups well. I think this is the most affordable and enjoyable Japanese spot in this area. I have tried the others, but it is always an issue with quality or quantity. Kumo gives good portions, has nice presentations. They have a bathroom that seem to be staff only, but if you ask, they will let you use it. This is a plus in my opinion because i hate when there are places that serve food and don’t offer a bathroom. I have also ordered lunch from this place. Back to the rating, I am a huge fan of curry and i thought they were wonderful the first 3 times, but afterwards, it seems they started to skimp out on the flavor. Also, there may be moments when the staff may take smoke breaks and when it is warm they may keep the door open, but i had to ask them to close it when i was coughing like crazy before i ate. They looked at me, but im a paying customer! They can open the door after they’re done!

Perhaps the third time would be the charm, but based on my first two experiences here it would be hard to muster another visit. After initially mistaking this Kumo for an old one (
), I am still reeling from the lacklusterness of their sushi. Terrible would be another way to describe it, but I like to think it was just my bad luck.
I’m not completely turned off by Chinese run sushi spots (
). After all, who doesn’t love inexpensive sushi? The plus side is the portions are generous and the cuts are halfway decent. What could possibly go wrong? The fish. All of it.
I don’t want to suggest that the sushi was old, but there was just something fishy (pun intended) about it. The texture of the salmon sashimi and even the tuna to some degree had a particular film about it and the taste doesn’t evoke the freshness of a new catch. The same blandness was evident in most of the rolls I had (specifically, the salmon avocado, spicy tuna, dragon, and rainbow rolls), along with the aforementioned fishiness. I would also recommend staying away from the roe or creamy scallop nigiri. It was just plain bad.
I even got delivery for a group (party platter alert) and everyone was so disappointed that we ended up tossing most of it. I hate wasting food and called to let them know about the issue. They must’ve been busy because the woman who answered just asked for us to take it up with the online delivery service and not them. That was that.
Left with a choice, I’d recommend shooting for something cooked or perhaps with eel. The rest is a gamble that at this point I’m UNwilling to try.

Wow! Fresh, yummy and good portions! Prices are modest but quality still high! I wish they were closer to my house but I will be back for sure! Friendly staff too!

A year later and I’m still a fan of Kumo!
I went there for dinner last night and for less than $ 20 I feasted on dinner special B, which includes a soup or salad (the salad is HUGE) along with a couple of spicy rolls, along with a dynamite roll. All tasty, all amazing, and all very much filling.
This is a great place to stop by and grab some sushi with a friend. It’s never crowded, the food is always good, and the music is always very relaxing.

I’ve had the pleasure of eating takeout from here and eating inside and the food is always good. No complaints whatsoever.

Nice for quick bite. Tasty and inexpensive. Got spicy tuna, eel avocado, and a yummy deep fried roll with salmon, avocado, cream cheese and eel sauce. If your in the neighborhood go :) YUMMY

This spot has become my go-​to for delivery in the area. I’m only two blocks away so they’re always super fast. The sushi combos are reliable, never soggy or falling apart or weirdly proportioned.
I’ve tried delivery from most of the Ditmars sushi joints and the others are either disappointing quality (looking at Oishii, which is sad because I’ve never had issues dining in) or too pricey or don’t have the selection I want.

Here’s a quick one. I’ve only ordered delivery from here, but I’ve gotten it about over 5 times. I can not speak to the actual location.
The most important thing to note, make sure you order at least 45 minutes in advance. This is the average time it will take to get your food. They should really work to speed this up to under 30 minutes.
The food: Consistently good. I always get the 3 roll lunch special which comes with Soup or Salad. I order with 3 other people and since the bill is over $ 30 i can get a free food item (Check the front of the take out menu).
Another main point, it’s cheep. For three people with tax and delivery tip we spend about $ 36 which is amazing. I am always full after lunch from here.
I would try it out.

The only surprises involving raw fish I can get behind are those that are delightful.
I’d kind of gotten used to a baseline quality for sushi in Astoria, which is why I decided to try someplace new. Hey– what a delightful surprise!
Great textures and flavors here. I found the same rolls I usually order elsewhere tasted a little bit better. I’m not saying this is the greatest sushi place in town, but it’s certainly a nice alternative. It’s kind of like going in to work and finding a box of Munchkins in the conference room. Makes you feel like your day might be just a little less soul-​crushing. How delightful!
