Lovely Spa

I went in to Lovely Spa to get a gel nail manicure. Ruby was attentive, very nice and gave me a great manicure. I’ll definitely be going back! She recommended going in Sunday mornings because they are less busy then, so they could take more time with you.

This is hands down my favorite nail salon right now.
Mani pedi massage ?! And it’s clean!!! And beyond reasonable.
I am a stickler for cleanliness and this place totally lives up to my standards.
This is my go to place.

I’ve been coming here for years and they are the best in the neighborhood by far. To summarize here are the best for each service.
Brazillian wax = Ruby — very detailed
Foot massage = Elaine
Neck shoulder massage = Ruby /​Elaine
Manicure /​Pedicure = Elaine
Other places should try to be as clean as them!

This place rocks. I love coming here for massages. Although I think the best one I’ve had was from Sunny but every time I come here it is really great.
Recently had a mani-​pedi — (which was a first at this place) everything was really clean and Sunny did a great job on my nails. The manicure lasted for about 5 days which is longer than usual for me. They took their time

The technicians are very nice and thorough. This is not a quick in and out nail Salon. They really take their time. The price is great!

I can not say how much I love this place! I stopped in here one day about a year ago after making an appointment at Blossom and being told I would have to wait for an hour (even though I showed up on time for my appointment) and have never gone any where else since.
The staff is super friendly and remember people when they come back. They also make each person feel like a valued customer — none of the hurry you often get elsewhere. The pedicures are top notch.
Count yourself lucky if you get Elaine or Ruby. They are the best!

Just moved to the Dithers area from Broadway so Im trying to find my new nail spot.
Came across here — $ 27 for a Mani/​Pedi — recently they switched over to all deposable materials due to the new Laws. I was a bit hesitate but it seemed like a good idea. Everything is disposable — nail fills/​buffers they even had the pedi chair tub lined with disposable plastic. The manicurist working were trying hard to use the cheap deposable materials but they didn’t work nearly as well as the supplies they would normally use. They have only been switched over for a week or two so it was new for everyone.
I didn’t like feeling the plastic bag on my feet either.
The girls were saying how its a new law and all Salons will eventually be switching over. When other customers and I began asking if we were able to bring in our own supplies — one of the Employees said she didn’t know… My manicure was alright but I have definitely had better — it looked as if I could have done it myself and of course it then chipped within an hour of walking out of the place.
So there prices went up — and then they charged me more for paying with a credit card — plus then of course a tip.
Not recommend for a mani/​pedi.
Later in the week I went back to try out their Massages — I was able to peek at their beautiful massage rooms on my way to the bathroom as I was getting my mani/​pedi and knew id have to come back for their massages.
Sonny, did my massage and it was perfect! Definitely recommend a message!

Came in for a basic mani/​pedi with my roommate. The salon was clean and pretty empty… which was a nice change from everywhere nail salon. Each staff member greeted us and continued to ask how we were. Sunny, the woman who did my nails, appeared new but took her time. The mani/​pedi took about 2 hours and included a foot massage and neck massage!

Ruby and Elaine are awesome

This salon is a neighborhood gem. Very competent and friendly nail technicians — a woman once insisted on giving me an egg custard when I was staring enviously at theirs. #loyalty
The salon was established in 2014, so they have new massage chairs and equipment. And it usually isn’t that crowded, so you can get in and out without a wait. $ 24 – 25 for a standard mani/​pedi.

I tried this place out based on the rave Unilocal reviews. Truly great service and experience but overpriced for my tastes; close to city prices. I’ve had similar great experiences in another nail salon in Astoria which is too far since I moved. Trying to find one closer to home. I’ll have to keep trekking :)

always greeted with hospitality and make you feel like you are truly their valued customer.
my facial was absolutely amazing. from the exfoliation to the cooling mask– my skin feels hydrated and i left with skin glowing!
ladies and gents, if you want to experience high quality spa services you MUST come to lovely spa.

I really wanted to give this place more stars: the massage chairs are great, it’s clean and so cute and Ruby (who did an amazing job on my roommate’s nails) was so great and sweet. In fact, I almost left 2 stars simply because of Ruby. I literally started writing this while on the pedicure seat for a good 45 minutes at least (and if only all that time was because she was being meticulous). This was hands down the WORST mani/​pedi experience of my life. I am 100 000% positive that this girl either didn’t actually work there or was in training. I really hate to leave such a negative review, but I’m still scarred by this experience. Where do I even start? She filed my toenails SO short that they are still in pain and it stung when they were in the bath. She didn’t know how to use the hangnail remover, she didn’t offer me the scraper for my feet (Ruby offered my roommate) and even said I didn’t need it. When Ruby told her she was wrong, she finally decided to use it even though she was technically almost done. She had to keep looking over at what Ruby was doing in order to do it herself. She was barely doing any work whatsoever on my feet, even though her face was literally an inch away if not less because she had pretty thick glasses. After she finally used the scraper, I looked down and realized she didn’t do a good job with the hangnails/​cuticle so I asked her if she could remove them. She didn’t. Ruby said something to her in their language and she said «I’ll try» but literally just didn’t. My nail polish is crooked, my cuticles weren’t pushed back and I can say the same about my hands as well. When she started to file my nails, I asked her not to file too short but (no surprise there) she, of course, did. My manicure is already chipping and my nails have never been so filed. I think filing is the only thing she knows how to do apparently because it looks like I did my nails myself. I guess this is what happens when you go someplace new… NEVER AGAIN. If you do go to this place– because it does have excellent reviews and I’m sure the other ladies, like Ruby, are fantastic– DO NOT let the shy, quiet, timid girl in thick glasses do your nails.

Don’t come in for a mani/​pedi if you’re in a rush. The mani/​pedis here are super high quality, they spend a lot of time on each customer, which is a great change of pace from the usual in-​and-​out nail spas.
The prices are very reasonable. I was greeted nicely and the salon was very clean. I even asked to use the restroom and to my surprise they have a very lovely space in back for massages and facials. Very Very clean Spa.
Not only will I be back when I have at least 2 hours for a mani/​pedi but I also booked a facial for Saturday morning :)

This is an update to first give folks important info on workers here whose massages could be detrimental to you. Spas like this should not allow just any/​all of their workers to give massages unless they’ve demonstrated knowledge of the body and/​or are in-​tune with other people.
Today I got a 15 minute neck massage from ‘Lisa’. She was nice enough but her massage technique was very bad. No idea of what she was doing and pressing hard in weird spots. She should not be allowed to give massages. I fault the management, not so much her…

This is a review for their spa services (versus their nail services)…
Don’t let the bland name (‘Lovely Spa’), or the fact that this appears to be primarily a nail salon, lead you to think their spa services may be secondary or sub-​par.
Considering this is a place right in the nabe, it is a real gem for those used to getting spa services with Manhattan prices to match.
Today I got a one-​hour massage by Sunny and a one-​hour facial by Ruby. Both women were pros, and attended to every detail. The service was top-​notch. In addition, their spa area in the back is really quite nice, all things considered. Very nice soft lighting, a number of individual rooms, nice soft music, everything smells nice and… the place was super orderly and super clean. (I’ve been to a number of other neighborhood places that had ‘spa’ type rooms in the back, but these rooms were clearly also used to keep extra supplies and ‘stuff’…you got the sense that maybe they don’t change the treatment room bedding between clients etc. But NOT so with this place. Believe me… I’m pretty particular, and while I HAVE been known to go to other ‘cheap’ places for a massage or facial, and just let it slide… the fact that maybe the bedding wasn’t changed between clients… at Lovely Spa, I definitely did not get that vibe. Even the bathroom was spotless… no extra ‘stuff’ tucked in the corners or anything.)
My ONE comment/​recommendation for them is: during my facial, Ruby had put some type of cloths on my face, apparently to ‘help remove blackheads’. These cloths clearly contained some type of enzyme or acid, because they stung a bit and then made my face feel itchy. Ruby implied that these cloths are the norm for removing blackheads, but at all the other places I’ve gotten facials over the years, I’d never encountered such cloths. In any case, three hours after my facial, I can see pink blotches on my forehead (where it was stinging the most from these cloths). In the future, they should explain to customers what these cloths are, and the effect it may have on their skin (especially if they have very sensitive skin as I do…)
$ 48 plus tip for a 60-​minute massage (I think they charged me less than usual because it was supposed to be a hot stone massage, but for whatever reason the masseuse didn’t realize that)…$ 65 plus tip for a 60-​minute facial. Can’t be beat! This will be my new go-​to place! ;-) Lovely!

Stopped in for a gel manicure and left with a manicure and half an hour massages for me and my fiancé! What a wonderful surprise. The staff was very professional and my manicure came out perfect. I’m extremely picky about my nails and was pleasantly surprised with the way they turned out. Ruby did a great job! Will be back!

I was in Astoria and I had some time and needed manicure so I looked at Unilocal reviews and decided to try this place. I was greeted nicely and the salon was clean w/​nice pedicure chairs and a good selection of Essie polish. (I can usually tell about a place by the way they keep their polish.)
I got a very nice manicure and 15 minute back rub. Everything was excellent and the price is reasonable. It seemed like everyone that works there is very professional. Ask to see their special menu if you want 2 services. Also, the loyalty program is based in $ not number of times you go. (You’ll get points quicker that way). Defiantly worth going here.

Stubble free for two weeks after my bikini wax! Shellac mani for $ 29, probably the lowest price I’ve seen in Manhattan/​Queens. Very sweet staff too! Will be headed back in a few weeks for another Shellac mani as well as a regular pedicure ($ 17).

Lovely Spa took care of me. I came for a massage and a Mani/​pedi and they made it the best afternoon in a while.
They were very attentive to my needs and the massage is probably one of the best deals in the area. Mani/​pedis are fantastic. They last long, look great, and they have all the best brands of nail polish.
The staff was wonderful. Simply wonderful. I’m definitely coming back.
