Modern Spaces Astoria

Had a great experience with Modern Spaces in Astoria (the one on 30^th ave). Worked with Georgios Anagnostopoulos, who found us a place quickly despite our request for an uncommon floor plan during the busiest month of the season. He was very accommodating of our work schedules and put in a lot of time viewing places with us. He knows the area well and is a pleasure to work with. We are very happy with the apartment that George was able to deliver for us. Thanks!

I just moved from California to New York and met with a dozen of realtors. Nobody does the job better than Calvin Yan and Christina de Curtis. I contacted Calvin and he showed me 4 apartments in less than one hour. When other realtors were telling me that what I was looking didn’t exist in the market, he had exclusive connections with local owners that made possible to find the right place. I was undecided and he was pro-​active contacting me two days later telling me he was able to negotiate a small price reduction. After a second view I decided to take it. Since these were privately-​own apartments the owners conducted a deep review to secure they were getting the right tenant. Then Christina led the efforts to secure a good deal for both sides and answer my questions even after signing the deal. Their broker fee is slightly higher than the rest of Queens, but still lower than Manhattan. But their exclusive listing, service, and personal attention make the fee worth.

We worked with George (Georgios Anagnostopoulos) to find our dream apartment. He was terrific. He worked so hard to find us exactly what we wanted and didn’t waste our time with apartments that didn’t meet our criteria. I can’t recommend him enough. He not only showed us really good options, he was a nice guy and we felt like we could trust him. Don’t get that often.

Cristina Candio is one of the most dedicated and honest people I know.
When I first emailed her about a listing at 7am on a Saturday, she got back to me within seconds. That responsiveness continued throughout the entire process.
My Astoria apartment hunt was very difficult due to some issues with another roommate, but she was persistent and never gave up. She found me an amazing apartment and I couldn’t be happier.
I highly recommend Cristina to anyone looking for an apartment. There are a lot of shady agents in Astoria, but she is the complete opposite.
Don’t even put anymore thought into it and just give her a call.

I worked with Mayra over a few weeks looking for a new apartment in Astoria. She was on time, prepared, and friendly, even when working on evenings and weekends to accommodate my schedule. She took time to text or email me with additional apartments to review. Unfortunately, lease timing, and amenities did not coincide with the budget I was looking to stay within so I did not rent a place. I decided to stay where I am for another 6 months or so and pick up my search late this summer. I intend on contacting her at that time. I’ve worked with realtors in several states over the years as a buyer, landlord, and tenant, as well as with several realtors for this most recent rental search. She’s one of the best.

I dealt with Steve trying to find a place in Astoria. He was extremely knowledgable and helpful during the process. I found a place and yet he still followed up weeks later which was very nice of him. It’s a pleasure to work with someone who is truly friendly and easy going while at the same time super professional.

I found my current residence through Tim and Greg at modern spaces. It’s turned out to be an awful experience with the unit (they smoke in front and back of my 1^st floor unit and hangout out speaking loudly all the time… I was told it was told it was non-​smoking… I have asthma).
I emailed Tim and Greg upset about the situation and explained that as a single mom I am stressed that I would have to move my child and spend again on a fee.
They responded saying that they felt awful and would attempt to find a new place, at no fee.
Well, in two months they supposedly didn’t come across any 1 or 2 bedrooms in my budget (which is a reasonable budget in astoria… Mid $ 2000).
I’m still not sure what the purpose of telling me they would help when they weren’t even going to try, but instead give me false hope. Not exactly ideal for a single mother.
They completely ignored my next email…
Each agency has their own list of places, many of them exclusive to the company, so you will likely work with a bunch of agents. You would think that they would be more concerned with the prospective tenants, as they are the ones paying the fees…
I was disappointed by the experience at first but now I’m disappointed and mad that I was led to believe they would actually try to make it right. It’s just bad business.

David Diedrich was extremely helpful and professional in what can be a difficult to navigate market in Astoria.
Dave made himself extremely available to us in our search– he responded to our initial request in under 15 minutes, and returned all calls immediately throughout the process. He didn’t push rentals on us at all, and really listened to our selection criteria. Because of this, we were able to find the perfect place under our budget after looking at only three listings! He even inspected the property before our move in to make sure a few small repairs were complete.
Look no further for a reliable realtor.

Cristina Candio is the best! I emailed a couple of people on various sites and she is the only person that got back to me right away. I told her I wanted a no fee place in Long Island City and she got together and list of different places for me and my boyfriend to look at. She also talked to us about the neighborhood and recommended spots to eat at on the day we viewed the apartments.
When we left the viewings she remained in constant contact with us and the building trying to get us deals and the best possible apartment she could. She also contacted us AFTER signing the lease to see if she could help with anything else… ie. mover recommendations etc. Everything she did was above and beyond. She’s professional, knowledgable, prompt, and so very friendly! I really liked her and think anyone else that decided to use her would too!
Some Brokers in this city can be so terrible and I was trying my to best to avoid some of the awful experiences I had in the bast. But this was completely different. I didn’t feel pressured into anything and really felt like I was in good trust-​worthy hands. She just seems like a good person!

This review is for Greg Kyroglou. I had called Greg about an apt and he had told me he would contact me when it became available. I didn’t think he would actually remember me, but he did and contacted me as soon as he was alerted. That really impressed me. Through every step of my apt process, Greg was super helpful, friendly, and honest about everything. I truly felt like he had my best interests in my mind. My apt lease was super easy bc of his help and the entire process was pretty seamless thanks to him. He even followed up with me even after his part was done. I couldn’t be happier with my experience with greg and modern spaces. If I ever look for another apt in the future, I will definitely give him a call!

I recently rented an apartment through Modern Spaces and had about as easy a rental experience as possible. Greg Kyroglou is without a doubt the most honest and accommodating agent I ever worked with.
Astoria is full of shady, unreliable brokers who often push their own agendas, but Modern Spaces — and specifically Greg — stands out as the rare broker that’s reliable and trustworthy.

My boyfriend and I saw a few listings online that we were interested in so we walked into the office and met Tim. He was so helpful and helped us find the perfect apartment. He went far and beyond for us and was so great to work with!

Dave and Cristina at Modern Spaces were truly great to work with. They were able to work with my budget, and Dave really went out of his way to continually provide updates. Cristina was on an international vacation but STILL communicated via email and answered my questions. Unfortunately the landlord dragged his feet on the application (which Dave was very apologetic about) so I went with another apartment through a different broker. Dave also had other Astoria apartments lined up to aid in finding an apt.
If given the opportunity I would definitely work with Dave and Cristina again. Both are professionals who under the hassles of moving and work towards making a stressful situation much easier.

This review is for Greg Kyroglou. Not being from NYC, my husband and I started looking for our new apartment months in advance… AKA too early. We had hoped that we would stumble upon a hidden gem with a move in date far enough in advance for us. I reached out to a number of brokers in Astoria to assist in our search and not was as professional, honest and helpful as this guy!
As I reached out to Greg too early in advance for there to be any available units, he said he would get back to me closer to our move in date. Sure enough, one month prior to our move in date, who emails me? This guy!
Greg is defiantly a broker who keeps his word and treats his clients with the up-​most respect. If youre looking for a place in Astoria, Greg is your guy!
