Old Neighbors Laundry Dry Cleaning and Delivery

Workers are rude! She kicked me out in the rain when I got there before last wash at 10:30pm. shouting at me WE’RE CLOSED! It was 10:20pm, and the place is open til midnight. I tried explaining the sign on the door and having to leave tomorrow, but she has NO SOUL, wouldn’t even look at me in the eyes. I’ve been doing my laundry here for couple years spending $ 20+ every other week. This is horrible customer service and I refuse to go back.
Ps. Their dryers overheat and shrink your cloths have to dry on low for an hour or more.

I have an ok experience here because I come to do laundry at the time that has minimal amount of savage old rude people that hog multiple dryers. Yes, come here in the morning like I did accidentally one time when they’re all awake and they will shove right past you and put ONE SINGLE BRA in each dryer for 6 dryers. I am not exaggerating.
At night, past 8pm, it’s a different story. I can do my laundry with relative ease and there might only be just 1 obnoxious old person who uses up half of the dryers. Thankfully the rest of the people are young, use 1 washing machine, 1 dryer, and are courteous. And yes this is definitely an issue I only see in old people. I don’t understand how this is a thing in Astoria but it is.
So if you can come after 8pm or have real talent in scaring off old rude people then this is a decent place to do laundry. Otherwise you can pay them to do your laundry for you and come back the next day to get it.

2 of the ladies that work here are very sweet. The one little lady (smallest one) thinks I don’t understand spanish and talks trash about me (and other customers) while we are doing laundry. I ignore it because that’s all she has but today the machine was not giving water and she pretended to ignore me while I flagged her down to let her know. she then told me that water would come in the second cycle, I told her that’s great but how about the prewash and how about the sound the machine is making like it’s trying to pump water but it obviously isnt. she gave me an attitude and walked away and got the other lady. The older lady was very nice and said I have to wait till the cycle is over and then she would pay for the next wash on the machine next to it. so simple yet the other miserable lady just isn’t happy with her life. enough of my time has been dedicated to this, astoria neighbors these old neighbors can be very rude, nosy, and gossip true to their name. I just want to do laundry not here some little lady talk shit about me in spanish.

This place is a joke. Machines are overpriced and the women who work here are RUDE. I’ve come here to both do my laundry and drop off/​pick up. Asked them to use sensitive soap once and they clearly didn’t cause my whole body broke out in hives and started to swell up. Had to go in to re-​do $ 120 worth of laundry myself. When I brought it up to the women, showing them my swollen hands and arms, and my annoyance at having to re-​do the laundry they failed to do correctly, they brushed it off and laughed. The next 3 hours I spent there doing the laundry they messed up, they proceeded to talk sh*t about me and call me racist names in Spanish. Hunty, just cause I’m not Latino doesn’t mean I don’t speak Spanish. Had to wait for the manager who told me he’d refund me but hasn’t answered when I reached out to his private number since.
Also saw them try to lock a guy out of the laundromat at 11 PM when they clearly advertise that they stay open til 12. They tried to keep his WET clothes overnight. Ha — this place is SAD.

It opens till midnight but last wash is 10:30PM!!!Be careful!!!

OK, two stars for their machines-​washer and dryer are all good machines. Don’t like how they just pick and choose which load of wet laundry they want to empty out onto a cart. Never mind there are other empty machines available if anyone needed it. Never mind the buzzer has just gone off a minute ago. Basically no rhyme or reason-​at least nothing obvious. Sour-​looking employees that look bothered if they are approached. Good luck getting a monosyllabic response from them.

Usually I don’t have a problem with laundromats. I used to live on 31^st and used the big place on 31^st and 30^th. Never a problem. I recently moved to 36^th and Broadway and I’ve been shopping around for a laundromat /​dry cleaners. In two months time at this place, they managed to lose my wife’s cart, I had my laundry taken from my machine and put in another machine, I’ve been snapped at by the manager, and I am sure something else will happen when I have to do wash this weekend. The cart story is hysterical: I went to pick up my wife’s laundry and asked the manager for her cart. She takes me in the back to a pile of carts and says «pick». I’m like what do you mean «pick»? She says «take a cart» and when I insisted on asking where «our» cart was she got all huffy and said «I don’t know. Just take one». Needless to say, I took a cart just to get home and my wife went in the next day to drop off the cart because we don’t like to take that which is not ours, and when she went in the next day some guy there said there’s no cart just be happy with the one we took the night before. Um, I don’t think so. Another time, I used a dryer set to medium for 88 minutes. I even asked the girl if that would be enough time. She said, yes, and I went back in 90 minutes later. My clothes were in another machine, soaking wet, and all of my dryer sheets (I know they were mine because I use Mrs Meyers and they have a distinctive pattern) were on the stainless steel table. I called the manager over (same woman in the cart story) and she said «you had too many clothes for one machine». I told her that’s ridiculous and why were my clothes moved and why were my dryer sheets on the table. She had no answer and walked away. I walked over to her and asked if she could just put my clothes in my laundry bag and I will pick up in the morning. I explained my wife is pregnant and having to put the clothes in for another cycle will take another hour or so making it close to midnight. She said she couldn’t do it and looked at me like a dog being showed a card trick. The place is nice. Super clean. The machines seem to be maintained. The problem is the staff. The one I’ve had to deal with was rude, nasty, and shady.

Great machines but horrible customer service. I was asked to move off of a laundry table that I was using since one of the ladies that works here wanted to use it. There were no signs reserving the table and no other tables available. I was asked repeatedly to move my things but there was no place to move it. I then called the manager who came to the store and when I explained, said he «owned the business and the building» and didn’t care. They take up over half of the machines doing take out laundry and don’t move stuff out of dryers or washers when the place is packed. After 13 years of coming here, time for a change!

Dropped off my clothes in the morning picked them up later in the day. When I got home my clothes were damp. What is the point of drop off service if they can’t even dry the clothes properly? Lesson learned wash my clothes elsewhere. You lost my business

My laundry wasn’t ready when they said it would be. I was really counting on them to hold up their end of the deal because I had a trip the next day. I asked for my clothes back so I could wash them myself and she rudely gave me a hard time about starting a late wash because she closes early if there’s nobody there. I started well before the last wash time and the whole reason I was there was because my clothes weren’t ready when I needed them to be, so I had no problem finishing what will likely be my last wash there.

Convenient, good hours, nothing ever lost, reasonable prices. I will continue to go here. I’m not so offended that the staff doesn’t go out if their way to remember names, it’s a laundry service, they do their job. One lady was kind enough to help me a bit when I went to wash something special, she didn’t really have to — That’s more important to me.

Come here all the time, it’s a very clean and friendly place. prices are fair, haven’t tried the drop off service. I know the delivery guy picks up & drops off on foot so I’m guessing that’s why it might take a while for clothes to get to their destinations on time. I live a bit fair from the place so I wouldn’t have them walk all the way to me.
Last wash is at 10:30pm they close at 12 but I do suggest if your still doing laundry after 10:30 you stay inside the laundromat & wait till your clothes are done because I assume after 11 if there’s no one left inside they will close before 12. it happened to me once but I got back after 12 so it was my mistake.
Overall it’s great If you do your own laundry :)

Typical arrogant (2^nd generation Italian) Astoria business. Complete disregard for customers — unless Nick, the greedy owner happens to be in a benevolent mood.
Soon after moving to Astoria 4yrs ago, my clothes were stolen — sheets, towels, jeans, etc… hundreds of dollars worth of clothing. Their response: «you should stay with your laundry… we’re not responsible!» Not even an «I’m sorry.» After 28yrs in the East Village, 3 kids & two laundromats — my clothes were never stolen. Mr Nick, the owner treats his employees badly, and pays them poorly. As for the stolen laundry, I’m convinced it was an ‘inside job;’ likely one of the poor slave-​women who work for Nick. He’s raised the price of a wash twice in less than 3yrs! When I confronted him (politely) he lashed out, «I gotta pay the rent.» My retort: «you don’t pay rent, Nick» you own the building free & clear.” He walked away.
GO ELSEWHERE! There are plenty of friendlier, more reasonably priced places in the neighborhood to wash clothes. Oh, and the musty/​moldy smelling machines do stink-​up your clothes. I only use the Extra Large machine, for my comforter.

Complete disregard for customers. It’s as if they’re doing you a favor to use their service. God forbid the staff has to interact with you. My laundry was ready for pickup, I came in. She saw my laundry bag high above the washing machines. She looked frustrated, went to the the back and got a ladder, placed it in front of the machines and pointed to me, then the bag, and walked away. I’ll walk the extra block for better customer service.

I’m a DIY type so this review is for the self service machines. The store is well kept, has a tv and has a change machine that give change up to $ 20.
Prices of the washing machines range from $ 2.25 to $ 4.25. Dryers are $.25 for 8mins.
They also have step stools for us shorties to fill the detergent cups on top of the machines. I was here on a Saturday at 11am and it wasn’t crowded at all.
It’s overall a good place to do what you gotta do.

Make sure you have at least 90min –2h if you’re waiting to have your laundry picked up and delivered!

First of all, I think you should know that this is my current laundry service, but it’s only because Mister Laundree quit picking up and delivering, and I would rather pay people to wash my clothes for me and bring them up my four flights of stairs. Now that we got that out of the way, I’ll tell you that Old Neighbors Laundry has their pros and cons:
Pros:
They’ve never lost or shrunk anything (unlike Astoria Laundry)
They’re pretty reasonably priced
They didn’t ask me to bring my laundry down to them like Rocket Laundry did
The owner will sometimes call and check with me when I give the pick up guy directions
Cons:
The lady that answers the phone is hard to understand
Sometimes they will attempt to deliver my laundry when I’m not home and haven’t asked them to do so
Sometimes they will refuse to deliver my laundry because my hang dry items are too wet/​heavy
Sometimes my hang dry items come back kind of smelly like mildew
I put up with them because I think the owner is really nice, and the pros do outweigh the cons. Unless Mister Laundree starts picking up and delivering again.

I had been coming to this place for years. One of the attendants there is very rude and unpleasant but I do my own laundry so I always ignored her. Recently I couldn’t take it anymore and confronted her. The situation could have been averted with a simple «I’m sorry» from her but alas she is too good to apologize for her rudeness. Um– you work in a laundromat– get over yourself. When I explained this to the owner he really didn’t seem to care so I took my quarters to Chow’s Launderette on the next block and they are so much nicer and cuddly soft. Avoid this place

I am THIS close to marching in there are throwing a fit. I have called Old Neighbor’s every day for the last week asking to speak to a manager. I dropped off my coat for dry cleaning, picked it up, and realized that I had left a nice pair of leather gloves in the pockets, which were not returned to me. I know, that’s my mistake, but they were a gift and I really really want them back. Is there ANY way you could check with the dry cleaner and see if they still have them? Simple question, not trying to be a mean person.
Not only has the woman who picks up the phone cannot ever get my name right (regardless that I’ve been coming here for years or spelling it out), she has picked up each and every one of my calls and is curt and confused. The first two times she told me the manager was not around. The next time I left a message and my phone number for the manager. (He/​she never returned my call). Then today, she stuck around to try to hear me out, went to «check my ticket number» and hung up on me. I called back, and she hung up on me immediately.
Are you for real?

When I first moved to Astoria, my cousin came to visit for her 22^nd birthday and we went out for drinks in the city. She left early with my key because she drank too much. I got home at 4 AM.
At 7 AM, I was half awoken by a bunch of rustling noises. I fell back to sleep.
At 10 AM, my cousin was gone, my blanket was neatly folded in the bathtub, and a very embarrassing note was on the counter.
I brought the blanket to Old Neighbors in a garbage bag and told them that my baby cousin (technically true) had an accident. I dropped the bag on the counter and hurried out.
The next day, as I walked in, all the women started hysterically laughing and shouting in Spanish, «The pee man is here! The pee man is here!»
Years of therapy have not undone the feelings of shame and inadequacy. (Also, they shrank/​bleached stuff occasionally. and the dry cleaning was inconsistent and took awhile.)
I have since moved and no longer go here. Nevertheless, I’m glad that this gave me a wholesome story for my first Elite review. Consider me Miles Davis.
