Plokamakis Michael MD

Dr. Plokamakis was my family doctor during a surgery I received. I feel thankful for the help and assistance I received from him and his staff. Last minute medical clearance was done efficiently. Drug prescriptions were done for me in 4 minutes while I was in pain and without prescriptions due to a hospital error. He saw me outside office hours within 10 minutes to rule out an emergency because I had similar symptoms to one. I feel like he can distinguish between regular «medical errands» or «medical emergencies» — and the patient’s needs are his priorities. I recommended him to so many people in Astoria already and my friend chose him too. Now he started to recommend him too. I don’t know what more can you expect from a family doctor who runs a busy practice. I think he is doing an excellent job, thank you so much Dr. Plokamakis

I went to the doctor to get a physical for school. He filled out the physical form without actually giving me a physical exam. He was unsanitary when taking blood. He refused to give me vaccinations because he didn’t think my insurance paid him enough.

I am giving him four stars because he is extremely nice and listens to everyone that walks through his door.
Honestly, I just think he’s overwhelmed. Patients come in here and treat him with no respect whatsoever. He recently had to attend a conference call and I swear to God — everyone that walked in didn’t care. I witnessed one patient insist in her native language (which also happens to be mine I just don’t use it) that oh she can’t really come back tomorrow or even later can’t he just see her now? NO, RANDOM LADY.
The doctor is amazing. The patients are rude and disrespectful and don’t even understand that they are being rude and disrespectful to their doctor.
Go there. He will listen. Be an outstanding patient.

Dr Plokamakis is one of the only doctors left to forego convenience and resist pressures to sell his office for the sake of his patients and preserve his ability to give as much time as them as they need, and to have the ability to treat them without quotas for tests and pushing on them unnecessary procedures. He is a kind human being and cares more about his patients than anything else. He is the only doctor I have ever been to who will make himself available to you any day of the week, any hour of the day. He will sit and explain to you in detail whatever concerns you have, and he continues to be one of the last honorable physicians I know who chooses people, and principle over profit and convenience.

I saw to Dr. Plokamakis for years, and I never really liked him or his practice! He’s not very friendly. He did not have the swabs to perform a strep throat test, there’s long waiting time, and the staff is not the most friendly. Look into other doctors in Astoria and you’ll find someone you like better, for sure!
