Needed an inspection before leaving for a trip. Dropped my jeep off around 10am and Nick had it back to me in a few hours even though they were busy with repairs on other vehicles. No nonsense here and a satisfied customer.

Honest, trustworthy, and great mechanics as well. I’ve used them for many years. It’s nice to see a father-​son family business still working in this day and age. Quality service and expertise at what you do is not that common these days. At Steinway Auto Repair you can rely on it

I have to say that I was going crazy about an issue with my Mazda 3 as it was having these problem where the car wanted to turn off every time it was left on idle being its a stick shift that is a pain in the butt so I went to a couple of auto repair shops and they all told me the same thing that I had to do a tune up so by the fourth time I heard the same thing I did it but nothing changed then I saw the reviews for these shop and said ok let me try. The very first thing is that these guys may be busy and seem occupied but they will find a way to pay attention to you which is great. They started checking it out and found something that had nothing to do with the problem but got it fixed as in the end it would’ve caused even more trouble, that says a lot to me that they care about what they do, the unto the real problem they cleaned some stuff and did some other things which are hard to explain and pointless if you are not a mechanic. So they finished and told me to take it home and try it later on the day to see the results, so I paid and went off, prices as for me were reasonable. Well after trying it the problem was no more but now it was the opposite the car would rev up too much so I took it two days after and to make it short the guys took it back and got it fixed and the best of all, free of charge as they felt the job was not complete the first time. I assure you that these is the right place if you want honest hands touching your precious car. These guys are real pros every sense of the word.

First time having a car in Astoria and was recommended by a friend to bring it to Steinway Auto. The service is amazing and you know you are being treated fairly. I was given a detailed walk through what needed to be done with my car and the cost was very fair.
I do not know much about cars or repairing them and they took their time to explain and educate me on why the repair was needed. I would refer Steinway Auto to anyone and everyone.

My 2006 BMW started making a noise in the morning of a day when I had to drive 1000 miles down to Florida. So at the very last minute I brought it to these guys for the first time. Spoke to Andy, he reassured me to look at it right away and have it diagnosed within 2 hours. Just 1 hour later Nick called me telling me what the problem was (water pump bad), and gave me an estimated price. Said it’d be done by noon. They finished by 11. I was on the road to Florida by noon! The car ran smoothly, no noise, no problems. I felt safe and happy! Owners are very friendly, knowledgeable, people YOU CAN TRUST! Will take it back for other small problems that needed a fix for a while now, when I’m back to NY. Will not go anywhere else!

came in for an oil change and inspection right at lunchtime, guys put lunch aside and took care of my car so I wasn’t waiting too long. Friendly crew; fast service; convenient locations

I’m must say I’m very happy. I dropped off my car at 845 and got it back 145. A simple fix as per Nick. States, wishes all vehicles were as easy.. Very straight forward in regards to where he was going to start before going into what I thought it was.. This is why im no mechanic. .Price very resonabable i didnt break the bank… I am comfortable enough to say if I need anything else dealing with my car I will return.. Thanks guys you were great!

Let me start off by saying that I know very little about cars. And I have had two very minor things happen to my occur when I was in need of immediate service.
The first was I had a flat tire and needed a change. Despite the fact that they were about to close, Steinway auto took off my old one, threw on my spare and only charged me $ 10.
The second time, I accidentally ripped off my rear view mirror and rushed in. One of the guys hopped in my car, fixed in a matter of minutes and said it was on the house.
What a great bunch of guys! They are honest, sweet and get the job done. Highly recommended!

I brought my 2005 Audi A4 here on two occasions – once for a broken windshield wiper motor and hood cable, and another for a NYS inspection. On both instances I was treated with the high sense of professionalism I heard so much about. I drove in all the way from Bayside to talk to Nick, worried if my Audi will make it another year, and left assured that all of its issues have been corrected. You can trust these guys!

Brought my car here for a grinding/​rattling sound. Upon arrival, the guy at the desk told me «it’s probably the heat cover. Those things come loose on Sentras and cause a rattling sound. I’ll take a look at it, but I’m not going to tear the thing apart going crazy looking for this sound.» So I’m thinking, ok, I guess he knows what he’s talking about. Later, I pick up the car, and he tells me he tightened the heat cover and that’s what the noise was. He only charged me for my oil change and I was on my way. Yay, right? WRONG I’m not even half way down the block and I still hear grinding/​rattling. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I took a day off of work for this. Finally I brought it to Dry Harbor Service Station in Rego Park. They found that my front strut was blown out (the grinding sound) and the people who installed my shocks (Deshi Auto Repair at the Gulf on the corner of 31^st and 20^th in Astoria) carelessly forced a bolt and stripped it causing it not to be flush against the metal so that the shocks weren’t tightly in place (the rattling sound.) I can’t believe the amount of useless, know nothing mechanics that are in this city. In summary, don’t go to Steinway Auto. The only reason I gave one star is because at least they didn’t take my money for something they didn’t do. But if the guy would have even driven it 10 feet (as that is all it took the mechanic at Dry Harbor to hear the blown strut) he would have saved me time and a wasted day off and he would have made about $ 700 off of me. What is wrong with people?

My truck had a burned out tail light, and Steinway Auto quickly replaced the bulb. They were efficient, courteous and extremely fair in their pricing. Highly recommended!

I must say that this place is the best. Hands down. I’m constantly being taken advantage of when it comes to getting things done on my car as I am totally clueless when it comes to anything mechanical. Nick runs an honest and professional shop and moved swiftly and efficiently. He’s a man of his word and I absolutely trust him and everyone else there. So I’ve been meaning to write this for a couple weeks. My beat up Kia Sportage appeared to be on its last breath. The truck was shaking and there was a loud banging noise coming from under the hood. I didn’t have a mechanic here in Astoria, so I went to Unilocal,found Steinway Auto Repairs, saw the great reviews, and figured I’d give them a chance. After working with them, I came away very impressed.
I left my Sportage at the shop and received a phone call a few hours later from Nick, the owner. He let me know that there appeared to be a timing belt issue and that before proceeding further he wanted me to know that it could get pricey. My impression from speaking to Nick by phone is that he was being transparent and communicating well with me. He listened to my situation, gave me some advice while discussing pros and cons. After hearing him out, I decided to have them go through with the repair, even when he let me know that it could run into the $ 700+ range (in the worst case scenario).
Thankfully the following day I got a call from Nick letting me know that I had been lucky, that they had fixed the problem, that my car was now running great, and that my bill was $ 300. That sounded more than fair to me. I went later that day to the shop. Nick started my car up and I was in shock because all of a sudden my car appeared to have been brought back to life. Nick told me to drive it around for about a month and to check-​in with him if there were any issues.
A few days later I noticed that my car started to overheat. I went back to the shop, spoke to Nick’s father, who I found to be a really cool guy. He popped the hood, started the car, and began to inspect. Literally a few minutes later he told me that he found that the fan was not working properly and that this was likely the cause of the heating problem. They took care of that and since that time (about three weeks ago) my car has been running great. It literally feels like such a smooth ride now.
I know auto shops and mechanics are known for being shady. The opposite is true with this shop. They were honest with me, treated me with great customer service, and were actually a pleasure to meet. I definitely recommend this place if your car needs to be serviced.

My car was at a different shop, where I was told I would need to spend $ 4000 to have my transmission rebuilt and it would take several days. I wanted a second opinion, so I called Steinway Auto, and Nick immediately started doing some research into the potential problem. He spent time and energy helping me out before he even knew if I’d move my car over to his shop.
I moved the car over to Steinway and by 3:00 PM on the following business day, the car was fixed and ready for me to pick up. It was a broken pipe, not a blown transmission. $ 500 for parts, labor and tax and I was out the door. Nick and Andy saved me $ 3500 and a huge headache. They even called after I’d taken the car home to make sure I was happy with the work. Steinway Auto has my business without question.

Great service. My wife brought the car in because I was at work and the owner was so accommodating that he drove her and my infant son back to our apartment because it was raining out. I really appreciated that.
As for the repair, it was fair and timely. Definitely recommend.

I have been coming to these guys ever since we moved to Astoria in 2008; they have never disappointed me! As a woman who has no clue about cars, I always feel like I am «easy prey» when it comes to repairs/​sales/​technical stuff, but this shop has always been accommodating, quick, and kind to me. They are incredibly honest… last year I brought my old car in before a long road trip I was planning, just to have an oil change and tune up — I was expecting it to be big bucks as I could not even tell you the last time I had my car tuned up… they changed my oil and called me to pick it up again, saying that everything looked good! How easy would it have been to totally dupe me and rack up a huge bill in repairs?!
Really could not recommend them more highly… honest, cheap, quick… what else could you ask for?
