This place is my absolute favorite Thai place. I have NEVEREVER had a bad meal here. I usually get the Massaman curry Shortrib it’s a special they have. The meat is so tender it falls apart it comes with potatoes and carrots. It basically SEX on a plate!!! The steamed dumplings are a MUST here. If you haven’t been stop buy and be sold for life like me.

This is by far my most favorite place to eat ever. There food is delicous. I haven’t been in a bit but used to go all the time and think about it often. lol the best dish there is Siam beef. It’s so tasty and comes with Thai fried rice. Some delicous Thai sweet tea goes well. with the meal. When I go to NY I always eat here at least twice and get an order to go. I tried to get them to tell me the recipe but they wouldn’t do it lol. Definitely a. must go to if your in the area. A++++++

I’ve been a customer at the 30th ave location for years. Went to Thailand and still think some of the best Thai food is at Thai Pavilion. Best tom yum, best curry, best noodle. Sad 30th ave is closed but 21st is just as good.

UPDATE — seriously. Pick up your phone people. Three different times now I’ve tried to order and they never picked up. One time successfully on call fifteen or so… but really people? Now then. The food rocks. Wish I could order some over the phone.

I felt compelled by previous reviews to try this place when I was craving Thai the other night. I would concur that the chive dumplings are quite tasty and unique. Other dishes tried included veggie pad see ew and a curry with tofu, which were okay. The baby corn and some of the other veg had that metallic«i-may-have-come-from-a-can» flavor, though. Overall, pretty good and lots of options that you don’t see on other neighborhood thai menus. One of the other apps was a ground meat dish that was bursting with flavor — wish I could remember what it was called.

Does anyone know why it is closed? Lee is a very special person. Thai Pavilion was literately the first good sit down restaurant of any kind on 30th ave just east of Steinway. Started out small with she and her husband cooking. Expanded next door into full dinning room with linen table cloths her children waiting the tables in beautiful Thai clothing she purchased on trips back home. She always greeted customers at the tables during meals. I hope she returns.

Horrible, horrible, horrible service! We ordered 2 generic Thai items, fried rice & basil beef and it took 50minutes for us just to get our food & there was only 2 other parties in the entire restaurant! To top it off the food isn’t even authentic Thai Food! The portions are very small and they don’t even give you plates to eat on. When we asked for plates, they gave us 2 small side plates! Definitely never coming back here!

Thai Pavillion is my family’s go to restaurant in the neighborhood. We have had several family meals here — birthdays, Mother’s Day, I’m in town dinners. I love the veggie dumplings here. They are different than any other dumpling you have ever had — just bursting with flavor. The veggie pad thai, chicken and cashews and basil chicken are also all really good. And I’m a fan of their thai iced tea!

I ordered for delivery shrimp fried rice and the lady told me it would be about 25 – 30 minutes. I thought that was a long time. An HOUR passed and I called asking where the delivery was, and the lady told me it would be there any minute. Ten minutes later, she called me back to confirm my WRONG address 20 blocks away. So in total, I waited an hour and a half, and when I open the bag, it’s shrimp pad thai – exactly NOT what I ordered. The lady spoke perfect English and understood me, but apparently she is just incompetent. Pad thai sucks. Waste of my time and money.

Thai Pavilion is arguably one of the best Thai restaurants in Astoria. The food is reliably good. The massaman curry is my favorite. My boyfriend really enjoys the Thai fried rice. Singha buckets are a great deal, and bring back glowing memories of Thailand. Prices are very reasonable. The service is very attentive and friendly. However, I wish they would get on Seamless… until then I will continue to call when it is too cold to venture outside. The location is ideal for everyone that lives near Astoria Park. Great for a low key night out or a birthday party(People have birthday parties here all the time).

This is a really nice Thai restaurant! I came here with my family and we had a good experience. This place offers a slightly more unique Thai menu than other traditional Thai places in the area. For an appetizer I had the crab, which was pretty tasty and came with a dipping sauce. Main course was shrimp massaman, which is a dish I often order whenever I get Thai food, but this place was unique in that the massaman had avocado in it! That was really delicious and I never had it before with avocado — soo good. I also had a lychee mojito which was delicious: D

I really loved food at the Thai Pavilion on 30th ave. I thought this one is same and just moved to a newer location. I placed a delivery order for shrimp pad thai at around 930pm. First of all the guy who took the order on phone was hard to deal with, because of his poor english and accent he gave me real hard time to make him understand what I wanted to order. So I confirmed twice with him my address and order which he confirmed correctly. The delivery guy forgot to take the apartment# from restaurant and rang buzzer of almost everyone’s apt in my building. He didn’t even had a phone to call me. When I came to pick food from him, he was all drunk. On $ 10 food I offered him $ 3 tip(I gave him a $ 20 bill) the guy returned me $ 6 and left(wtf ?). Instead of shrimp pad thai they sent me chicken pad thai(I don’t eat chicken). So I called them right away to complain. I called twice and no one answered my call. They spoiled my dinner. I am never going to order food from here again.

Went here last night and ordered some pineapple fried rice and Shrimp Pad See Ew. Everything was really fresh and very hot. The food was not very greasy which is good because you can tell it was made with fresh ingredients. I missed the Mee-Krob from the other location. It is a very hard dish to find but so delicious! When we asked for it, they didn’t even know what we were talking about.

I have not been to the 21st location but I’ve been to the 30th ave location which I think is now closed. I assume the food is the same however so my review should be relevant. THEBESTTHAIFOOD I HAVEEVERHAD!!. I myself am not a big fan of thai food, but I love the food here. This is the only thai place that I have been to that serves lamb! And that to me is already a huge plus! Also they REALLY know what you mean when you order«extra spicy». Most restaurants usually can never get it right with the spice level, but Thai Pavilion definitely knows how to add some major Spice to your food! JUSTOVERALLAMAZING!

Thai Pavillion can best be described as average, or «run of the mill». Queens has a wealth of extremely authentic and moderately price Thai restaurants. Additionally, it also is home to a large number of more generic, Americanized Thai restaurants. I’d recommend Thai Pavillion more to those who are interested in the latter of those options. There’s nothing wrong with the generic Thai food that has come to be a staple of the city. Sometimes, I am craving a downplayed version of papaya salad with sauteed shrimp as opposed to the more authentic dried shrimp or ground fish versions that you’re far more likely to find in Thailand. And in those instances, Thai Pavillion can provide just what you’re looking for. The location is easily accessible, and the space is dignified albeit casual. The menu is very expansive. You’ll find all your expected, standard fare here: hoi-joh, tom yum soups, pad thai, larb and pad prik khing, etc. are all present. However, they do have a few notable additions, like a more sizable section of sauteed items as well as lamb curry, which seemed somewhat out of place. They also offer a number of items that I would classify as more Chinese influenced than Thai. I prefer restaurants that provide less options because for the most part, I’ve found the old saying«jack of all trades, master of none» to be true. Nothing here is bad, however nothing is exceptional. We ordered the steamed mussels with lemongrass: they were standard. I ordered the Chicken Pad Khow-Pod on, which was essentially sauteed chicken mized with baby corn, mushrooms and onions and served in a clay pot with rice. Also, standard. My dining companion ordered what was, essentially, Drunk Man Noodles although it was not called that on the menu. He asked for it to be prepared«Thai spicy», and they obliged. He enjoyed his dish, but again, it was standard. I can’t complain about service as I would call it «fast and friendly». The prices were also extremely reasonable. The dining room was larger than it seemed from the outside, but was mostly empty. In summation, a good choice when in the area and looking for something quick and inexpensive, dining with those trying Thai cuisine for the first time or if you are NOT looking for a more authentic experience.

When my friends over at Thai Pavilion in Astoria invited me to try some of the restaurant’s authentic cuisine, I was excited yet unsure what to expect. Now, I love spicy food, but I’ll admit my knowledge of Thai food doesn’t go much further than the mediocre pad thai from my nearest takeout spot. Not only are the owners(and head chef) at Thai Pavilion knowledgeable, they’re seriously the nicest, most hardworking people you’ll ever meet. I think I sat at the restaurant for a full two hours laughing and enjoying each and every dish. I’ll just jump right in to my favorite: Hoy-Ob-Mor-Din or Thai Style Mussels. The fresh mussels were steamed with Thai fine herbs and lemongrass, and served with a spicy lemon sauce. The lemongrass broth was soothing and bright, while the spicy lemon sauce added just the right amount of kick. Each mussel was tender and not too chewy or overly fishy. The Larb Gai was a wonderful new take on the traditional chicken salad. The grounded chicken with onions, chili, scallions, mint and lime juice was served over a bed of lettuce. The dish can be made as spicy(or not spicy) as you’d like. With almost an undertone of licorice, this plate was flavorful in ways no American chicken salad with mayo could ever be. And the food just kept on coming. The mixed appetizer plate they put together for me was a great way to taste a little of everything. The Steamed Thai Dumplings were not like any dumpling I’ve ever had before(and I love my dumplings!). Stuffed with finely grounded chicken, peanuts and preserved radish, each dumpling was earthy and textured – especially with crispy shallots sprinkled on top. I’m normally not an egg roll fan, but the Thai Egg Roll was pretty delicious. Glass noodles wrapped with egg roll skin were stuffed with sauteed white cabbage and bamboo shoots, making this egg roll so much better than the bland vegetable stuffed junk you get at other takeout places. The plum sauce drizzled on top was the perfect addition. The Shrimp Wrapped in Phyllo Dough was simple but fun. I loved dipping them into the spicy lemon sauce from the mussels. Drunken Noodles might just be my new go-to dish. The stir-fried flat noodles with chili pepper, basil, onions and chicken were surprisingly light with a wonderful creeping heat. This Shrimp Pad Thai was nothing like any pad thai I’ve ever had anywhere else. Even the day-old leftovers were better. The stir-fried rice noodles with bean curd, ground peanuts, egg and bean sprouts were crunchy, smooth and oh-so-nutty. You just need to go try it. Seriously. Like now. Although I didn’t have much room left, I’m glad I took a few bites of the Whole Fish with Tamarind Sauce. The Chilean sea bass was flaky and light, while the tamarind sauce brought a tanginess to the dish. The side of Shrimp Curry was pretty delicious, too. Needless to say, if you love Thai food(or even if you don’t) make your way to Thai Pavilion in Astoria. They’ll treat you right, feed you good, and make sure you’ve got lots of leftovers to relive the experience all over again at home.

I have been to this Thai restaurant twice and had a good experience both times. It looks clean and a pleasant enough décor. Nothing extravagant or overly upscale, but not a cheap joint either. It’s a bit nicer than the other Thai restaurant down the avenue. The staff is friendly and quick, however when it comes to clarifying what’s in the dishes, they don’t always understand. The restaurant has been quite empty when I’ve been there so I’m not sure what it’s like in terms of service when it’s busy. I had tum Tom Yum soup both times I was here. There first time I had the big bowl which I felt at first before I saw it perhaps a bit pricy for 18 usd, but when I saw the size of it and the quantity of shrimps, it felt worth the price. The serving bowl with heating inside made it stay hot throughout the meal. The location is convenient, only a few minutes walk from the subway stop. This is a good neighbourhood option for good quality Thai food that I can recommend. Although, I think the prices should come down a bit.
