Great restaurant in the Astoria area. Simple, clean, delicious, reasonable prices, amazing sangria. What more could you ask for? A truly Peruvian experience.
It has all that and wonderful, cheerful service.

More expensive than your average Peruvian restaurant for sure, but everything tastes a cut above. Ceviche melts in your mouth – no chewy cuts of fish here. Generous numbers of very fresh shrimp in the Chupe de Camarones. Flavors and seasoning of everything we ordered were more masterfully executed. We went for weekend lunch when there were only 2 other tables, so did not have a problem with the service that other reviewers mentioned.

The food is good just as it was in it’s previous location in Manhattan. However, part of the reason why they closed there was lack of clientele. They have a 20% gratuity policy even if you’re eating by yourself which is unreasonable. The service is very very very slow (can’t emphasis this enough). The waiting staff depending on who serves you can be either mediocre or decent. Family of the owners also work as waitresses and they seem to have a «I will do only the required» misdemeanor. Although, the food is good it’s overpriced by the time you add taxes and gratuity. I’LL PASS!

I went in last week with my husband and 5 year old for the first time, to give this place a try since it’s pretty new to Astoria. They advertise a
12:30 –4 pm lunch special, so we thought what better way to give this place a try since it was going to be our First time there! Trying a little of a few things on their lunch special would have been a great start to judging the rest of their food on their complete menu and perhaps make us return and be loyal customers and even give our picky eater a chance at their lunch.
We picked up my son from school and decided to head over and made it just in time and were there at 3:30. We even knew what we wanted since we had checked out the menu online earlier on to be ready.
Upon arriving it was a few minutes on being seated, there were only about 3 tables of two tops and two people at the bar area. When I noticed the waitress did not set down the lunch specials menu on our table I asked about them and she said oh it’s 3:30. Mm ok?
So I was already thrown off and said well aren’t they until 4? And she says I’ll go ask the kitchen, she comes back seconds later and says no more lunch specials because the computer system automatically changes at 3:30.? Really? Sounds shady but ok.
Well why even advertise lunch specials from 12:30 until * 4 * if that’s NOT really the case. I’m 37 weeks pregnant and had my mind set on something but as much as I wanted to give this place a try that just really threw me off, I dislike lies and false advertisement. I was even willing to give the place a try knowing how hot it actually was inside with the all the windows and doors open with basically 90 degree weather outside. Not worth it.
What a disappointment. Please advertise correctly with the TRUTH.

I have been trying to find a good Peruvian restaurant in the area. After trying all of them (in Astoria) I definitely recommend this one. Jalea, pescado a la macho and the arroz con Mariscos were fantastic.

I always like to try out new restaurants being that my significant other is part peruvian and has got me into eating their cuisine we are always wanting to try a new spot that being said we went there yesterday afternoon the 2 stars is for the service as the food itself was delicious. We arrived there yesterday with our toddler daughter who needs a highchair and it seemed like it was a hassle for them to get a highchair and when a bigger group came we had to move to another table and they were seated after us and we got there first I just noticed that they seem to treat everyone differently and that just turned me off. We ordered our food and I had the lomo saltado dish which is the beef with french fries and rice and My boyfriend had the aji de gallina which is the chicken in a spicy yellow cream sauce both dishes were delicious and prepared very well. We ordered dessert he had a fried doughnut dessert with a syrup on the side and I had a icecream made from a fruit that grows in peru I also had one of their cocktails which was delicious flavored with passionfruit, simple syrup, pisco and gingerale it was just right not too strong. This place is sort of like a spot to go with your partner or a group of adults maybe no kids. I am not sure if we went on an off day but the staff’s attitude needs changing and I’d say it is a little bit pricey for queens I’m willing to give it another shot on a different day perhaps for lunch and see if we have a different experience.

There is no minus rating here so one will have to do. I was so excited to order again from this restaurant so I placed the order at 9:30pm. At 10:36pm I looked at the status on Seamless which said my order was being delivered around 10:15 so i called to find out what had happened. A very rude man answered the phone and just told me your order is on the way there’s nothing I can do. At 11:10 the order showed up and the delivery guy told us how come we didn’t cancel the order. When I open the order it had been poorly packaged and to top it off they forgot to pack the rice! So I called again and that very rude man answered the phone again when I tried to explain to him why I was calling he would not let me talk and started arguing with me on the phone. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING. The restaurant arguing with the customer even after they screwed up royally! This place is awful, the food was not to part, the chicken was under cook and the ceviche was trash! I would not recommend this place to my biggest enemy if I had any. What a waste of my money, DO NOT WASTE YOURS!

Waited at the door for a few minutes was barely greeted waiting about 7 mins for a server to come see me had a seafood dish can’t remember the name but there was way to much sauce and the presentation wasn’t the greatest service was okay male manager was really nice and had a good recommendation food wise and the food tasted amazing

Delicious! Sweet staff and wonderful food. We ordered the ceviche, tacu tacu, and tostones. All of the items offered an authentic taste with a beautiful presentation. Glad we live so close. Hopefully Warinque will have better luck in this location than its predecessors. Suerte!

i just went to Warique on a whim while walking around the neighborhood with my husband. The staff was attentive, the drinks (pico sour & sangria) were great, and the apps we had (veal heart skewers and spicy ceviche) were phenomenal! I highly recommended this place! Go! and take everyone you know! trust me you wont be disappointed
the prices are reasonable too. and they have happy hour M-​F

Date night with my love Armando… and we loved it! Fish was so fresh, each dish was more delicious than the previous one. We shared everything from the Ceviche mixto, parihuela, y corvina a lo marcho. Muy delicioso!

The Sangría is good. Not too strong, not too watering.
The Peruvian chicken is good. I just think this place is just overpriced. Small side of everything for the price they charge you. I know, 30^th ave. But they just opened up.
The service was great, the Colombian girl idk her name is awesome, very attentive.
I would only come back if I really feel in the mood of eating hispanic food (the chicken tasted like eating in south America).

My wife and I had the yuca a la huancaina, it was creamy and delicious. The warique fish was also good but a little too simple for the price, the ceviche was good also but a little small. The service was good but we waited too long for appetizers and entrees, Thats the only thing i can complaint about. The lúcuma ice cream was awesome.

The food is amazing and very authentic, their ceviche is probably the best in NYC, the Tacu Tacu with Lomo Saltado is just Brutal, they don’t have a liquor license yet but they will soon, highly recommend

This place was okay. The service was great and attentive, just the food was not the best. i had the steak and rice and beans it was a little chewy. The rice and beans were good, but i always like rice and beans. Over all the food was not great to me.

I came here on a lunch date. The atmosphere and wait staff were amazing and the food is authentic! My date had the Arroz Chaufa and I had the Lomo Saltado both were so delicious we ate everything…
The only downfall is they do not make homemade traditional Peruvian drinks and they do not have a liquor liscence yet.
The waitress was very attentive and had a smile the entire time. She let me know that they have live music on the weekends which I will be back for — excellent service!

LOL this place opened up in a location where in the past 2 years 2 businesses have failed and has the gall to charge twice as much money for food and drinks than any of the veteran restaurants on the avenue. BYE!
The food is mediocre, service is fine, but the price is a slap in the face.

3 of us had dinner here tonight, a Saturday. The place, recently opened after relocating from Manhattan, was crowded. They have no liquor license as yet, but we made due with a delicious Peruvian fruit beverage called Chicha. They were quick to serve the beverages and take our order… and unfortunately that was the best service of the evening. The wait for our appetizers was ridiculously long, and we grew justifiably impatient. Busy night aside, it should not have taken anywhere near that long for an avocado salad, ceviche, and plantains. And when food did finally come, just 2 of us were served… the 3^rd waited longer.
When our entrees came, same deal…2 of us were served, and a 3^rd again had to wait longer. No bueno. As for the food, it was really very good. All the dishes including the above mentioned appetizers, a fish entrée, a whole roasted chicken, and a Peruvian-​Chinese rice dish with chicken, were delicious. That’s why 3 stars… the food gets 4, the service 2, split the difference.
The prices are not terrible, but higher than the neighborhood average. The food was good enough to go back, but I think I’ll wait until there’s a liquor license and they have some more time to work on service and kitchen timing, which was terrible. Some of the staff did seem to be trying, water glasses were kept full… but either they were overwhelmed or it was short-​staffed, perhaps in the kitchen as well.

This review is for the worst delivery service I have had in years, courtesy of this mediocre restaurant.
I placed an order with them through grubhub at 850pm. It was supposed to arrive at 945pm. When 1000 pm hit I figured I’d call to see what the delay was. Grubhub spoke to them and they said they would have the order brought to me by 1020. When it was 1040 I figured what any person in that situation would do. I called to cancel.
Grubhub spoke to them and they said that they were busy and at this point they could not say at what time they would have the delivery here. Really?!? Then why did they tell grubhub before it would be here at 1020. I cancelled the order.
Flash forward to past 1100 pm when I get a knock, guess who is at the door with soggy cold overpriced food? You know who.
Over two hours for a delivery, and the restaurant never once bothered to call, if not to apologize, at the very least to say the delivery is running late an hour more than the latest arrival time originally given. To hell with this place. This is Astoria. Plenty of places to order from that know what they are doing.

This location has had bad luck for the past 3 years. Hopefully this place stays because it is really good! The food is very flavorful and the servers are very nice and accommodating. I went for dinner around 7:30 and the place had people but wasn’t crowded. I ordered the beef with onions tomatoes over fries with rice and it was delicious. My husband got the creamy chicken with rice it was really spicy but very good. Both dishes had a nice authentic taste. For dessert we shared the flan and it was also so delicious, very thick and creamy. I would absolutely come here again! This is a Very good place and I really hope they make it!

Excited to see a Peruvian restaurant opening right near my apartment. Tried Warique tonight on what I think was their opening weekend.
Really enjoyed the food. My boyfriend and I had the ceviche, a Peruvian chicken soup and chicken with a Peruvian style pesto pasta. Everything was excellent and we will definitely be back again! It was boyfriend’s first time eating Peruvian food and he really enjoyed it. My favorite part was the magical green dipping sauce they served with corn nuts as course opener, I could literally could drink that sauce from a bottle. Highly recommend.
As it was opening weekend there were still a few kinks to work out (no liquor licence and cash only for the time being) but with food this good I am sure it will become one of my go to restaurants.
