History

Established in 2011.

Galaxy Theatres, LLC is a fully integrated movie theatre company. Privately owned, it is ranked by size in the top 10% of its industry, according to the National Theatre Association and currently has theatres in California, Nevada, Texas and Washington. Formed in 1998, its focus is to develop and operate a portfolio of high impact, state-​of-​the-​art movie entertainment theatres in selected markets of the western United States.

Our intimate VIP lounge serves wine and beer to our over 21 guests and we are the only theatre on the Central Coast to offer DBOX motion chairs that move along with the action on the screen. The only reason I’m giving a 2 is because of the way they handle other disruptive movie-​goers.
They say they’ll kick someone out if they’re on their phone, however, when I went in December (maybe November) to watch a newly released movie there were 2 girls sitting in front of my group that were constantly on their phones. Even taking selfies with the FLASH ON!
I went to complain about them, expecting some action from the employees, however all they got was a warning. Immediately after the employee left, they went right back on their phones without a care in the world. Another woman sitting next to us would check her phone every 15 minutes or so, her screen as bright as possible.
I was disappointed that these people were not dealt with properly, considering the fact that I’ve seen people removed from the theater, as promised, for just 1 complaint.

This is a very clean place. The seats rock the arm rests go up so you can snuggle, there’s a bar in the back. We love going here to watch movies!

I’ve been coming to this theater ever since they opened! Been here plenty of times to write an honest review. This is more of a complaint about customer service regarding «Richard». I don’t like writing bad reviews, however just today I had a bad experience and wanted to bring it to the attention of the general managers.
So I call galaxy and had a question on prices online in comparison to over the phone. A man picks up, says hello this is Jason (I hear snickering in the background, very unprofessional) he was very monotone and sounded like he was high, not really paying attention to what was said. Anyway that’s not even the problem… I called back 5 minutes later after talking to my brother who works there about how bad the customer service from Jason was. He said they’re is nobody named Jason that works at Galaxy. So I said wow, maybe because he was goofing off with me he didn’t want to give a real name? So I call back because I wanted his name… same guy picks up the phone and says his name is Richard (More snickering in the background). I called him out on it and he didn’t have an answer for me. Really, guy? And to top it off he said he was the assistant manager. (Who knows if that’s true, I sure hope not). I would be more than happy to elaborate on this if need be. –Curtis

I am not a big fan of going out to the movies but after coming here, I’ve changed my tune. This movie theatre is really nice! We booked our tickets in the VIP theatre. The seats are super comfortable and I love how you can reserve your seat in advance so you don’t have to worry about where you’re going to sit. Each seat had a lot of space around it so I felt really comfortable. I would highly recommend this place!

Galaxy has a VIP (21+) theater and a lounge. You can get your favorite adult beverage and take it into the theater with you. On Tuesdays all seats all day are $ 6 each. We go almost every Tuesday. The popcorn is good and usually fresh. The seats in the VIP are comfortable. The seats in the other theaters are not as good, but definitely comfortable.

My first time here. I was visiting a friend in the area and this theatre is nothing like the ones in the Sacramento area. Absolutely loved it. I’ve never been to a theatre where you can pick you seats, they where really comfortable too. The staff was super nice, showing us to our seats. I will totally come back here again next time I am in the area. It made the theaters in the areas I am in look like a joke. I want to check out a vip movie as well. Had a great movie experience.

Yesterday my wife and I went to take in the 12:15 showing of «The Martian». We were already running a couple of minutes behind when we got our tickets and went to the concession stand. We were third in line. The young man working behind the counter was a little slow taking several minutes to serve the customer. Then the next couple approaches the counter to give their order. We can see that this may take awhile so we go and find our seats. Previews are already running. After a minute I tell my wife «I really wanted popcorn». So I head back to the concession stand making a detour to the Men’s Room. The same couple is at the counter munching on their nachos. Server comes out of the back with a pretzel. Were not done yet. Now the buttered popcorn and of course with the obligatory soda.
Now here’s why you are getting two stars. During this time I observed at least three other workers milling about the concession stand in conversation with each other and one of them behind the counter. How could you not notice that the line was not moving, albeit a short one? That the worker had been serving the same customer for almost 10 minutes. I’ll assume the worker was slow because he was new. Someone should have come over and helped him out. I barely got back in time to catch the first scene of the movie. The message those three workers sent is «Not my job and I do not care» I’m a store manager myself, the concession stand is your «profit center» treat it as such.

This is THE best movie theater venue between Los Ángeles and San José!
Stadium seating, 3-​D, premium surround sound, motion seats, top-​of-​the-​line, a real bar, and a screen for adults only! Happy, friendly staff, clean restrooms, great ventilation and air conditioning. San Luis Obispo County is lucky to have this movie theater, located in historic downtown Atascadero, California Central Coast Region.

I enjoy going here for movie’s on Tuesday’s for their $ 6 membership deals. With my wife and family. Very cozy and fun. Sad thing is, unless they changed it is that the deals are only during school sessions year after year. Even have an app for the theatre for smartphones and iPhones.

I love this theater. The staff is always friendly and fast which is a total plus. Huge lobby.
The tickets and the concessions are the same price as you would find at other places but they have a bigger variety than most places. They have a rewards program that is really nice.
You sign up for the rewards program and if you ever forget your card at home they can look you up by your name. The rewards are cheap tickets on Tuesdays, free movie tickets, and discounts on concessions. They also have a VIP room where they have a lot of different alcoholic beverages. But you can have your alcoholic drink in any movie you want, not just in the movie that’s playing in the VIP screen if that makes sense.
Really nice chairs and huge screens.
They have a strict no electronics policy which might sound kinda harsh to some people but I love it because the last thing I want is to pay a bunch of money and not be able to watch the movie cus someone in front of me is texting on their phone the whole time.
My FAVORITE thing they did is just recent. When you buy your tickets, you choose the seats you want to sit in. I love it cus if you buy tickets in advance and you’re running late or something you don’t get stuck with bad seats. The seat thing is just really convenient.

Nice theater, generally very friendly workers, concession prices are industry standard about $ 15 for a large soda and large popcorn both have 1 free refill.
They have a rewards card that gets you cheap seats on Tuesdays. They also have a VIP lounge and theater where everyone has to be over 21.
Why then do you ask am I merely giving them a meh rating? It’s all about the 3-​D offerings. We would love to see more 3-​D movies but they only offer them in the morning or late at night. don’t they realize people have to work and sleep? I have asked about it and they have replied that no one wants to see the 3-​D movies (could it be their high cost?) So they get religated to off hours.
May I make a suggestion? Try offering one during peak hours on cheap seat day. Yes, we have to pay an up grade but it’s still cheaper than other days. Perhaps you might get more viewers this way.
Addendum! I’m super happy to see that they are indeed now offering some 3-​D options during regular hours! We will be seeing Hotel Transylvania 2 on Tuesday in 3-​D woot woot!

Definitely one of our more favorite theaters we have been to. It may not be the cleanest, newest or schnaziest. But we enjoy the accessibility and the general lack of crowds. Most of all, while the kids enjoy popcorn and treats, mom and dad get to enjoy adult beverages! They allow wine and beer in the theaters And have a decent selection of local wines.
The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I appreciate the assigned seating in that it eliminates the bickering and finagling with strangers just to get one seat for your 8 year old to sit with you! We are glad to have such a nice location near us to enjoy each week for a family outing.

Came into town for an anniversary trip with my fiancé and we decided after a long day of wine tasting that we would want to see a movie. We had gotten the «reserved seating» and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! The wine was a really nice touch as well!
The staff was completely welcoming, friendly and had great recommendations on things we should do when we were in town! Just completely above and beyond. I might even go as far as to say it made our trip.
It’s just so nice to see that people still care about the movies (as corny as that sounds). We felt like we were on our first date all over again! Jenny and her staff were so great!
We wished we lived closer so we could go more often!
SO impressed! Thanks again for such WONDERFUL service!

Just got back from the show. We were required to choose seats when buying tickets.
BAD IDEA. The seats we chose before entering the theater were in front of 3 people who shouted through the entire movie.
We tried to move a few down during the previews sensing that they could be disruptive, and was told by the usher to reproduce my ticket and move back to the ‘approved seat’. The theater was barely half full.
Speaking to the manager on duty after the show, we were told we supposed to find the usher after the movie had started and request a new seat. So now it’s MY responsibility to miss part of the show to find the usher again? If an usher is present, they need to monitor rude people, not chastise patrons who have paid just as much to see the show.
Then we were told that all the shows will be going to this format, and were basically argued with by the manager instead of her listening to valid feedback. Why would they institute such a stupid system?
What happened to customer service? Not sure we will return. The theaters in SLO and Paso Robles will be worth the drive.

I really have no complaints here, which is rare because I’m not a movie-​goer. the parking lot is small, but the theater itself is just the right size. The employees were very friendly and accommodating. Popcorn was fresh and the theater was clean. We enjoyed the movie and prices were fair.

Let’s just put it like this: I have never been in a movie theater where they serve alcohol, have a VIP section and have a bar/​lounge thing. So my movie experience was absolutely surreal and that was before I sold my soul to the devil and watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a group of new friends. In the process I completely ruined a large chunk of my childhood, but that’s Michael Bay’s fault.
I haven’t been to the movies in years so I don’t know if $ 11 for one person is inexcusably expensive or ridiculously cheap. I’m thinking it’s not the latter.
The theater was well kept, the staff seemed cheerful and helpful. I could have done without one usher’s inappropriate question (but for the privacy of my friend, will not be mentioned on my review). It just needs to be known that one usher doesn’t know when to mind their own business.
The seats were really comfy. In that, «Oh god it leans back almost all the way. I can put my foot up on the seat in front of me and not be an a**hole!» kind of way. Or it makes you wish it was a La-​Z-​boy so that you could prop your feet up on something. The seats were spacious and comfy. The theater I was in was very clean and the screen quality was impeccable. No weird stains, tears, etc.
Overall I’d say it was a pretty good experience and I’ll most likely be back. I have to try out the VIP section after all. I need to level up. I also need to get my soul back, but you know…
