This is probably the best sushi I have ever had! Love the lobster rolls, they are so different and amazing! The philly roll was by far the best philly I’ve ever had! And great plum wine

Called in for takeout, and was surprised when the price was 20% more than usual… got home and opened my order only to find the pieces of sashimi 50% smaller than usual! Seriously tiny! When I called to see if there was some mistake, I was told the manager was not interested in talking to me. Wow! Really?! I completely understand the need to make a profit, but to raise the price and lower the quality of food, coupled with horrible customer service, is not the way to stay in business. Needless to say I can no longer recommend Kai Lana and will be finding a new favorite sushi bar.

This is my favorite place to grab sushi in the area. Always friendly, prompt service. Great fish and rolls at a great price. You can dine inside or outside. Love it!

We used to love this place, would eat there often and always took our visiting friends there. Not any more. Quality of service and food have both gone downhill. We won’t be returning.

I’ve been on the fence with Kai Lana for a while because I’ve really disliked the service I’ve gotten here a few times over the years… but they have the best fish in Atascadero, it’s always fresh, so I come back time after time. I went here by myself on Friday afternoon, got some sake and beer and chose to order one of their lunch combinations and it was incredible! I ordered a combo of sashimi(tuna and salmon) and assorted sushi(5 pieces?) and a six piece roll — it was beautiful and it tasted as good as it looked! I was so impressed with the three young gentlemen who were working the restaurant. They were perfectly attentive and polite and I got my lunch in less than 10 minutes from the time I ordered it! Great work. Can’t wait to come back!

Kai-Lana was recommended to us by friends. We decided to go check it out. Service is pretty fast and super friendly. We sat outside our first time going and it was really nice to sit outside and eat. The food came quick and super fresh. The second time we sat inside, only because outside was already packed and there were no tables. Service was again. Fast and friendly. The food was delicious and super fresh. Our 7 year old loves the food as well. The price is a bit high but worth for fresh tasting food. I would def recommend people to come and eat at this place. You won’t regret it!

I had sushi here a while back and don’t remember much about it, so it couldn’t have been bad. Today I went for early dinner and order the tempura dinner. Now, I’ve had tempura before and enjoyed it, but this was a whole lot of very bland tempura. It was shrimp and veggies. It all tasted the same, with no real flavor at all. Couldn’t even taste the shrimp itself. I think it was because the tempura batter was too thick and tasteless. I might go back for sushi sometime, but I’ll never order tempura there again, that’s for sure.

On a road trip from SF back to LA and came across this lil spot! Great food! Nice lil atmosphere, very friendly staff. Great find for its location as well. The Spicy Garlic Chicken was my favorite! Rich in flavor, good quality chicken slightly crispy and tossed in a spicy garlic sauce, delicious!

Good sushi and tempura in Atascadero! Enjoyed the hand rolled spicy tuna, and the unagi was tender and flavorful. We really liked the shrimp tempura as well, with big, tender prawns. Our go to place!

We came here on a recommendation from a friend, we(my wife and I), thought this place was ok, nothing amazing except the crew working. The food was ok, we wont go out of our way to come here but if friends invite us, we would be back.

I was impressed with the speed in which they completed our rather large take-out order. The fish was fresh, but the rice left a little to be desired as I don’t feel it was seasoned enough. The maki and nigiri held together nicely and there was more food than we could finish. The price was very fair, and honestly, rather inexpensive.

Our first visit… very busy on a Sunday night… food was good. An easy, comfortable place for a satisfying meal.

Decent sushi It is not as good as Yanagis or Goshis but for Atascadero, it is alright. The outside seating could be done up a little… The patio is dusty and the chairs are old.(However inside seating is quite lovely!)

Unfortunately my recent experience at Kai Lana was a let down. I won’t go on and on about how we never saw our server, how the appetizer came out after our dinner, or how we had to hunt down someone to ask for our waters to be refilled(yes I know about the«ask for water» policy — but I shouldn’t have to hunt). Sushi was«eh» — not very fresh. Overall, it was a C– at best.

Owner rather make a dollar and lose a customer Poor service Good food nice presentation Chef Jun thank you for siding with the customer on the other hand the owner is a money hungry a-hole. Long story short the owner charged me for noodles his waitress threw in the trash because the noodles had a funny taste when we asked to remove the noodles he tried to bargain with the customer asking for me to pay 50% of the noodles due to the language barrier Chef Jun was the middle man. In the end after 10 minutes of debate with owner Chef Jun took the noodles off the tab and apologized for the owners actions.

This is our go-to sushi place. Fast, delicious, fresh– what more can you ask for? I love the ambiance in the outdoor patio and always have a nice meal with my significant other. We usually order the popcorn Lobster roll, shrimp tempura roll, and I love the hot night roll with eel and avocado on top instead of the spicy tuna. I’ve tried a couple of other sushi places in town but this is where it’s at.

We came in hungry on a dark Thursday night. The place was out in the middle of nowhere, but we are sure glad we found it! We ordered some miso, beer, and tea for starters, and then ordered the sexy roll, the golden California roll, and something else I don’t remember… The presentation and service were amazing, and the rolls were delicious! They congratulated us on our engagement with a dessert! Would love to go back!

Really a 2.5 I had a lunch sushi special; it came with chef’s choice sashimi and my choice of roll. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients. It didn’t knock my socks off, but it was good. My mom had a lunch special with some kind of beef, and a spicy garlic chicken. She enjoyed her beef. The chicken… Didn’t make sense. It looked and tasted like mediocre General Tsao’s chicken from a Chinese place. The miso soup was phenomenal. The ginger dressing on the green salad and the cucumber salad were both great. We ordered a dynamite. We had one bite and didn’t like it. The service… Yeah. They were very sweet. But our waiter — a very attractive young blond gentlemen with close-shaved hair — Was painfully new. He will probably be better once he has some more time under his belt. But, he asked how out food was, we told him we didn’t like it(the dynamite) and he said okay… and that was it. He didn’t clear it. He didn’t offer to trade it for something else… It was awkward and weird. I asked some questions about my order before making my choice, and the information he gave me proved to be very wrong once the food showed up… I didn’t say anything. When we were leaving, I was pushing my mother in a seated walker(she just injured her leg and the wheelchair hadn’t come in yet), and the cute young blonde girl at the counter shouted, «Thanks for coming in!» and stood there watching us struggle with the door. I finally asked for help but thought it was odd as a server — or even as a human being — that it didn’t occur to her to help. Despite the great soup and good sushi… We were extremely underwhelmed.

I can’t say enough about Chef Jun at Kai Lana! Took the family today and had a great time. Sat at the sushi bar and had the kids explain to Jun what they liked. He hit it perfect from my 9 year olds tempura salmon roll to my 20 year olds Hot Night Roll. Great place to go… Get Chef Jun!
