I probably walked through the Athens Regional Library headquarters on Baxter Street 100 times before I finally stopped and thought, «Wait…what is that little store I always pass?» When I at last went in, I was pleased to find a collection of books, cards, and gift items. Responding to a sign posted on the door, I called the store manager and told her I’d love to volunteer at the store. Paperback books and children’s books are a steal at $ 1 each; hardcover books are $ 3; collectible books are priced as marked. There are baby toys, office supplies, local authors’ books, games, jewelry, and gifts for the writer and reader. All profits go to library programming, so you can feel good about the money you spend.
