Athens West Cleaners

These guys are great! Always friendly and polite. Always go the extra mile. I wouldn’t trust my clothes with anyone else.

I needed a pair of jeans hemmed, and was surprised to find that other places around Athens were charging large amounts of money to do so! Athens West Cleaners near the Ingles Shopping Center on Atlanta Highway not only hemmed my pants quickly but also at a great price! They did a great job and it turned out exactly as I had hoped. I would recommend them to everyone; forgot about the pricier alterations shops around town and go straight to Athens West!

I’ve used them 3 times for dry cleaning and alterations. Why I keep going back? I don’t know. I guess I believe in the benefit of the doubt, second chances, whatever. Or I’m a glutton for punishment. Well, no more!
I refuse to return to them and their EXORBITANT prices (and I’m used to Manhattan dry cleaning prices), their empty promises, and being charged for services which were never performed.
Here is an example of my latest (and last) trip to Athens West Cleaners, and exactly what I asked for:
Please dry clean one black wool skirt suit–
(Returned with cat hairs still all over it and less-​than-​fresh smell at the armpits. No explanation offered.)
Please dry clean one white jacket to remove coffee stains —
(Returned with coffee stains in tact and no explanation offered.)
Please replace a single plain brown button on a suit jacket —
(Jacket returned with nothing changed)
Please shorten the spaghetti straps of a shirt by 2 inches and repair the one strap that’s coming unattached. Also, please take the shirt in a few inches along the seams–
(Straps left untouched– and the one still hanging off. Other alterations made in the clumsiest way possible with wavy seaming and strange darts that bunch up when the shirt is worn. And yet the shirt’s still not actually much tighter than when it started– which was the primary goal.)
And, yes, I was charged for all of the things I asked for, regardless of whether they actually were done.
I will NEVER go back. Buyer Beware.

My review of this place is long overdue. When I needed to have some pants hemmed, a dress cleaned, and some three quarter length sleeves converted to short sleeves, a friend suggested I go to Athens West Cleaners. My experience there was great. The pants are the perfect length. The stains and odor from the dress were removed. The bulky sleeves on the otherwise summery dress were short and fitted.
Some people may know their way around Athens and not need directions. For everyone else, I’ll write how to get there. This place is off Atlanta Highway. If you turn away from Panera Bread at the red light, the cleaners is on the right as you ascend the hill. Then you can stop for a sandwich afterward.
